Coast Bar & Grill – Charleston
Went there for Valentine’s Day but only had a reservation for 10:15pm. Knowing the reputation of the restaurant we knew the price was going to be expensive but the quality would be great. However when the meals arrived it was after they had closed at 11pm. The fried seafood that my wife got looked and tasted burnt and possibly prepared in old oil. Not acceptable for a meal that cost close to $30.00. Someone who looked like a manager brought the food out to us instead of the server (who was great). We asked after trying the food if we could swap the meal with something that wasn’t fried knowing that they probably didn’t change the oil out at the end of the night. With this being a special occasion my suggestion is maybe don’t accept such late reservations if you know that you won’t be able to achieve great food quality for such a special day. Unfortunately the next time we plan a date, we will have to pick from the many other locations in our area other than Coast to spend our time and money.
Food was amazing! Atmosphere was energetic. Definitely on our return list!
Fabulous as always! We love Coast - it’s our favorite restaurant downtown.
Ordered the beef fillet and lobster. Lobster tail might have been at the best 3 ounces and over cooked. Beef fillet was sent back twice and each time it came back bloody rare and not med. Manager cooked a second streak, it too came back bloody rarer not med. we also ordered Oyster Dinner. As the grill, oil was too hot, in this case over cooking the oysters to crusty brown nuggets.
This place has gone way way done hill It might be good for tourist, but not locals any more. It’s a shame how bad it’s gotten.
Went here for Valentines Day and the front desk staff was so kind and helpful and our waitress Ashley was amazing! She was very helpful on GF selections etc! Food was so good and the place is adorable!
Our first time dining here. Food was perfectly prepared and presented and delicious. Dustin was personable and knowledgeable about the food and spirits. We will definitely return when in Charleston again!
Great dinner for two, and the staff was accommodating to a special request. No complaints at all.
Great food and service, but it can become pricey if you like oysters, may be market price, not restaurant issue but it can get expensive real fast.
Everything was burnt to a crisp. The service was good though.
Food and service were very good. I recommend it highly.
The food was amazing! Great portions and cocktails as well as service. The restuarant is large and has great ambiance. I would recommend to anyone visiting Charleston, especially if you want some great seafood.
The brussel sprouts were Amazing! Best I've ever had. Will definitely be back again
Server was knowledge on the oysters and fish of the day. Food came out great and timely.
Excellent fresh fish . Vibrant atmosphere. Walking distance to major hotels. Nice bar .
The sauce on the salmon was excellent! The salmon was prepared just as I like it to be; cooked through but not dry in the least. I dined with 3 others and each of us enjoyed our entrees enormously. As it was my first visit, I can not say outstanding until I return (which I will!) and find it to be consistently wonderful.
Coast Bar & Grill was a great place to check out while visiting Charleston. The service was good, and the food was great. The only problem we experienced is that our reservation was forgotten not once but three times. We were the first customers to arrive and by the time we sat down, other customers had already completed their meal. Other than that, we will return for the food and atmosphere.
It was fun for a birthday kinda touristy great service . Food was good kids menu awesome ! I wouldn’t go back but I’m glad I went .
Service and food were great!
Fantastic Food plus outstanding service but we get this every time we go!!!
First time here and was for a business dinner.
Wasn’t sure but after 1 minute we were glad we chose this place... chowder and soup were great appetizers and then the blackened swordfish was AMAZING!!! My co- workers got the salmon and the other got the tuna.
Let’s just say that no one had ANYTHING left on their plates.
Will definitely be back!!
The shrimp in the appetizer was still frozen when it was served, the lettuce in the wedge salad was hard/old, and the entree was very bland. Our server was terrific. Just think we caught them on a bad night.
Good oysters, shrimp, and grouper. Oysters a little pricey. Wood grilled grouper was delicious along with sauteed veggies.
Perfect, as always!!
Came for dinner and drinks. Good atmosphere.
Server was great, one of us in the party has a food allergy and the server was very knowledgeable. Food tasted great as well and it was in a cool location. Definitely recommend making reservations for a Saturday as it was an hour wait without one.
Great service and delicious food! I love this restaurant for special occasions.
Great seafood and local ambience. Super waitstaff.
Dinner was fine. Server was very good. Odd thing to notice but place needed a good dusting and maybe a cleaning.
We have been to Coast several times. The food is always fresh and we enjoy the laid back atmosphere. The bacon wrapped scallops are one of my favorite appetizers. If you like Brussels sprouts, theirs are delicious. If you are looking for a fun atmosphere to hang out with friends and have a drink, this is the place.
Nice restaurant. The food was seasoned well. I had the grilled Tuna. I was very good, just not very warm.
Our server was wonderful. Very attentive. The restaurant needs cleaning. We sat in a booth and there was a layer of thick just on the divider over my shoulder and remnants of wrappers from opening a wine bottle.
Food was great. They claim to be the best seafood in Charleston, and they might be right. The service was outstanding. Olivia, our waitress, was super friendly and the food came out fast. The price is on the higher end, but the quality fits the price. A nice night out in a great atmosphere.
Walking distance to the Music Hall, so dinner and a show is all right there. A++
My only negative was the price of local draft beer. A little high.
Good for a casual meal. Convenient to jazz concert venues.
I had to back the next day to get more raw oysters. They were wonderful!
This is our third or fourth time at Coast, but the food this time was excellent. I can’t say enough how delicious it was. The only negative was that the waitress gave us food before she gave us silverware to eat it with and then for our main course, they delivered my steak but we had to wait and ask for a steak knife.
Server was rushing the entire time to turn the table
Not friendly or helpful with menu choices
Last week at restaurant darling oyster bar the server was awesome
Knowledgeable about menu
This server was no help
Comfortable surroundings, plentiful menu choices and terrific service! Close to a host of Charleston destinations and parking is immediately adjacent.
We went to the CMH for a concert!
Great service, decent food great ambiance.
