Cashew Encrusted Grouper
Roasted fingerling potatoes & green beans, cilantro pesto cream sauce, dusted with cashews & peanuts
While the meat and seafood were good, the sides were overcooked and very salty. My son and husband didn't eat their french fries because they were overcooked and very salty. My green beans were overseasoned. We've eaten here before and had much better food. Our server, Laurie Ann, was great and very friendly.
This place had the most succulent, buttery, salty, mussels I’ve had in a long time.
The food was great and the service was quick. We loved the crab dip and the French fries the most.
My salmon and my daughters salmon was more like sushi, which we eat quite a bit of, but it was way undercooked. She sent hers back, I should have because I didn’t eat it. My husbands steak was rare, should have medium. He too had to send his back. There was no one in there so not sure why the food wasn’t cooked properly. We took leftovers home and threw them all in the trash. This place gets a fair rating at best. I should have read the other reviews before going. Thumbs down!
Great service, great meal.
1st rate despite limited menu : complimentary dessert for birthday a nice touch
The seafood is always fresh.
Our selection was not easily made, as it all sounded intriguing. We finally chose, and all was DIVINE! Special mention goes out to the Crab Dip, YUMMMMM!
Nice atmosphere, good food, good service. I’d go back.
Staff very attentive. Food selections ranged from sandwiches to steak and/or seafood. We enjoyed the food and atmosphere so much we went back a second time during our recent trip to Charleston.
My sisters and I are in Charleston for a sister trip which was turning out to be quite disappointing with all of the arbitrary and unnecessary restrictions but Coast was a breath of fresh air. We were allowed to feel a little back to normal as the level of service was excellent, as was the food. We would definitely return.
The food was really good and our server was great. Overall a great solid choice. The crab dip was a good appetizer and I had the crusted grouper. We loved the experience.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a VERY long time. The crab dip and lobster tails are to die for. Service was also excellent!
Blame it on COVID! We drove from the Charlotte area and were very disappointed in the pared-down menu, as neither of our favorites were on the menu. The bread had great chew, but was not warmed. The salad was excellent. Our main dishes were average, but that could've been bolstered by the fact that they weren't what we wanted. The server was nice and attentive, and the atmosphere was great. Damn coronavirus!
Everything was delicious except for the Brussels sprouts that came with the Cashew grouper. They had a good flavor but under done and difficult to eat. The hush puppies are a must.
Birthday dinner for my wife. Everything was outstanding especially given the COVID stuff. We will be back this week.
Service was great!! Food selection was good and we were all happy with our meals!!
Best friend and I were looking for a good place to eat during our Covid reopening vacation. Decided to try this place and was excited because of the reviews and the fact that they had seafood after looking at multiple spots. The place has a damp and moist feel...not super good but as soon as we walked in the patio area was riddled with flies...they were EVERYWHERE. That should have been a red flag. Nonetheless, we go in and are seated and order the crab soup, calamari, 2 drinks and the crab dip. The soup was delicious as just as I was getting to the bottom...I felt something weird in my mouth...it was a piece of plastic from like a ziploc bag or something. I was disgusted! We let the waitress know and all she did was apologize and take it off the bill. Not a manager came over or anything! It’s not ok! I couldn’t even enjoy the rest of the meal cause YUCK! My issue is the casualness of notifying them...like they knew. Also the waitress said “it’s probably from the crab”...no plastic is plastic! Never again!
You cant go wrong with fish dishes, the grilled swordfish was amazing. The Grouper was just as good. Get your sauces on the side unless you're sure.
Went to celebrate our 25th anniversary and Coast did not disappoint. Despite the limited menu, the drinks were great (I recommend the Seersucker!) and the food was quick, flavorful and amazing! I am not a seafood person, but I had the salmon special and I loved it, along with the potatoes and seasonal veggies. My husband said the shrimp was the best he ever had, flavorful as well. Our only disappointment was it was pouring as we left so we could not walk around downtown. Coast is one of my go-to restaurants when downtown!
Great ... fish was a little fishy tasting
The food was very fresh and cooked perfectly. I got the Adobo shrimp with the bacon grits. It was the best food in Charleston for those few days.
Very overpriced for the whole experience!
Go over to east bay to get good value
I highly recommend Coast. Every time we go to Charleston it is always one of our dinner places.
The grouper was delicious and our server was very attentive. We will definitely go back!
Wedge salad is a must!!
Although it was a bit too salty the shrimp and grits was the best I've had in Charleston!
We had the crab dip appetizers and the jumbo scallops entree. The crab dip was decent but nothing special. The scallops were good, but they weren’t “jumbo” as described on the menu, and for $30 we should have gotten more than four each. Serving mashed potatoes as a side was plain boring, and the burre blanc for the scallops just tasted like butter.
The atmosphere was coastal kitsch (like what you’d expect if Applebee’s was a seafood restaurant).
The worst part was our server. We went on Sunday night when there was hardly any crowd. Our waitress was inattentive, unenthusiastic, and so cold and aloof that my husband actually asked her if everything was OK. I asked the waitress what kind of desserts they had. When she responded that they had chocolate cake, I asked what kind, because many restaurants offer their own version of chocolate cake that makes it unique to the restaurant. Our waitress looked at me like I was stupid and said “it’s chocolate...with chocolate icing...” I could see the mental eye roll she was sending my way. Considering no effort was given to offer meaningful details, an opinion, or “sell” me on their cake, I passed on it. We paid $122 for our meal and in my opinion it was a waste.
This was our second visit to Coast. Our first experience was great all the way around, but on this visit our server gave the impression that she would rather be anywhere else but at work. She was not friendly at all and checked on us once during the meal and we finished our meal with empty drinking glasses.
Not a good thing!
I would still go again based on the quality of the food, however I would ask for a different server if we would have the same person again
Our experience at Coast was great! Great food and cool atmosphere.
If you like a TON of butter and salt, get the mussels. While the mussels themselves were good, we have never had any swimming in so much butter.
The rest of the meal was fine: grilled chicken over a salad and swordfish/mashes pots/julienned veg.
Service- meh- no one checked on us and all of the dirty dishes were left as each course came out even up until the check.
The service was excellent. They took appropriate safety measures to keep customers safe during Covid.
