Had to leave because the smell of marijuana coming in through the windows was making us sick
Our first visit to dine at Coast..did NOT disappoint !
Fabulous from the top notice service (James) to the fab menu (chose the crab cobb for lunch) veggies were especially outstanding ; sourced from a top rated vendor ..taste was outstanding !
Needless to say we'll repeat visit soon !
I was mistaken when I thought this would be a step up from 1 Pico. I was sorely mistaken.
Food was mediocre. Lobster roll was absent of lobster. French fries were severely freezer burned.
Pasta with shrimp was undercook and rubbery, respectively.
Not returning. A tourist trap.
Made us sit outside even though we had reserved a table inside by the window
It was fantastic. Would love to go back again but it’s a little too far from London!
We met at Coast for a business meeting. We sat inside. It was perfect for talking. Waitress did a great job of letting us talk and not interrupting.
Great location right on the beach. Food great. Have to have the Coconut Cake...it’s a must! Service great and super wines😊
The restaurant manager, Jamie, was particularly helpful when we were sorting out our table. However the food All arrived at different times and the staff were too keen to clear plates of some of our party who had finished eating. It was also quite hard to catch the attention of staff for iced water etc. We had a good meal though and it was lovely to be by the sea.
Good quality food but very very bland
Great location, good food and very attentive service. A great breakfast - See you next time we are in town!
Outstanding and good humoured service from James!
there is a mismatch between price and food creativity. Still always come back for the setting.
The Coast is a gem. Tuesday pasta night is outstanding
I took over the restaurant for my husbands birthday. We had 55 people
Chef Vittorio outdid himself
It was magical
Great service, pefect spot to watch the boardwalk. Expensive but worth it.
Excellent food service was good recomdatio.n for all ocations
I love this restaurant.! Morning meals are friendly and easy chatter in a comfortable setting with an amazing view and very attentive service. Evening has an entirely different mood, more quite, more relaxed, great view of the ocean, and wonderful hotel bar/lounge. Side business/conference room is great for meetings.
Food is ok but supremely over priced. Go for the view and a $8 double espresso.
The service from my server was extraordinary. Mexican server. Amazing.
terrible service, expensive mediocre bland food.....wont be back to this property ever and wouldn't remotely consider recommending it to anyone
We visit LA often from New York and we make sure we sit at Coast every trip. Love it for every reason possible. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable and happy every single time.
Love this place- pricy but worth it for the quality food and ambiance.
My absolute favorite every time I go to L.A. Never miss a trip to Shutters and Coast
I have been visiting Santa Monica once a year for 5+ years and Coast has always been a preferred destination to meet friends and family. The location and ambience are still outstanding, and the service is fine, but the quality of the food has declined, first noticed last year, but definitely this year. The chicken on the chicken Caesar salad was tasteless and not fresh. The hamburger was not good. The bread and desserts were still excellent. Overall, not a good value for the price and we are unlikely to return.
As I was driving to work in L.A., two Spanish radio station DJ’s (KLOVE) were raving about Shutters on the Beach. I looked it up, and sure enough, I discovered “Coast.”
I was invited to speak a CSU Dominguez Hills, so I drove to Carson, from Lancaster, and then to Santa Monica.
The food at Coast was magnificently fresh and delicious. My wife loved it, so I told my brother about it. We will be visiting soon with his fiancé who lives by the Grove.
The beach looked beautiful from our vantage point, but Santa Monica, LA County and the State CA leadership needs to clean up the beach. It’s to beautiful to be dirty and smelling.
Meeting cousins only see about every 5 years.
Wonderful ambiance, delightful service and very good food
Fabulous setting on the beach. No one rushed us.
Wonderful restaurant even though it's in a very special hotel
Vittorio the chef of the hotel will make you anything you want
Wait staff is very nice
It just a lovely dining experience
A friend from London was here and she loved it and said thank you for taking me to this
I take all my friends from Europe here when they are in town.
Great dinner with a great view. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. Salads tasted amazing!
Charming hotel restaurant- very relaxing and serene
We have been here many times and love it. We had a great service and good food. Prices are a little high but it’s worth it.
Great views, great easy going staff.
The view is outstanding as was our server, James. Great ambiance, great food, great service!
This is a gem on the beach. Food and service were spectacular. If your price sensitive try and suspend your sensitivity and realize you have to pay for the location
One of my favorite places. On earth. Can’t beat Shutters on the Beach for amazing sunset, outdoor dining and excellent service. The food is pretty good too.
Restaurant was very nice, food and service was great.
Air Con, freezing!!
Noise from other tables was loud and children running around. In other words, don’t expect a quiet, intimate dinner
Very poor food quality
We enjoyed brunch at Coast on the charming outdoor enclosed patio and were impressed by the freshness of the king salmon and inventiveness of its traditional brunch options. Upon entering the restaurant, we saw four fresh layer cakes beckoning us to leave room for dessert. Ultimately, we chose the coconut pineapple layer cake to end our meal. It was reminiscent of an old fashioned grandmother baked cake and was so memorable, we came back the next day for happy hour to try the chocolate one, which was equally delicious and incredibly balanced. We paired it with the happy hour Barbera red wine for a decadent treat. Coast is a true gem and all the staff make you feel welcome!
I found it difficult to find a restaurant in that area that offered more than just one dinner that didn't include fish or seafood, as I am allergic. There seemed to be many tasty items here so I was very excited for my date with my husband. We were visiting from Georgia and so we were also excited about California-style food.
Overall, Coast was disappointing. I ordered steak frites. The steak was undercooked, so I sent it back and it came out overcooked and dry. It did not come with any type of sauce, and was not good quality beef. The fries looked like the cheap variety that comes from the Sysco truck. Very little flavor happening in this dish, all for $31. I was also charged $5 for a glass of coke. My husband had a salmon burger with salad. The salad was a handful of mixed greens with zero vegetables incorporated and topped with salt and olive oil. Obviously he was not impressed.
The quality of food does not equal the value in money that this establishment charges. I would expect for a nicer restaurant to have pride in what comes out of the kitchen and clearly that is not the case at Coast.
