Coach Grill Ratings and Reviews
The ambiance was incredible with the soft jazz playing and quiet conversations during Valentine’s Day. The rose they gave was a nice touch as well. The waitress seemed little rushed and not overly friendly. The appetizers came within good timing, but was disappointed with the buffalo mozzarella-very watery and tasted like a brine rinse without flavoring. The bacon-wrapped scallops were divine. The strip steaks were perfectly cooked and juicy and thick. Also their wine choices were nice and plentiful and not exorbitantly priced.
We always enjoy the Coach Grill and have dined there about a dozen times the past 2-3 years. Quality of food is excellent and portions are plenty. On this last visit, Valentine’s Day, the dining room was reconfigured a bit to cram in small tables, so much so, that serving plates, drinks etc, would not fit. The service, while generally excellent, was horrible on this occasion. There was no attention to detail one comes to expect here, we finally received bread halfway through the meal, the steaks were not cooked properly, the sides were tepid, and the dinner was not served all together, one side arrived when our meal was practically finished. Despite two requests, sweeteners were never brought with after dinner coffees. Waitstaff appeared indifferent, and it seemed out of sync between the waitress and the support team. I will think of this as a one off situation, but when I pay $45 for a steak I expect the same great service every time, at that price there can be no off nights
We enjoyed professional service in a setting burnished with paneling, a hearth fire, pleasantly low lighting and the nostalgia of the Red Coach Grill. We enjoyed very good food (at a slightly exaggerated price) and an overall ambiance for conversation. The Coach Grill is worth a visit.
This was the first time myself and my wife had actually got to go to this restaurant we found the food remarkably very good. The atmosphere was very cozy and romantic. The service was very prompt and and detail oriented. Would go back to this restaurant again in a heartbeat.
The food was delicious. Our service was very poor. We had to ask for our water to be refilled twice, we were not offered bread and when my husband ordered a latte, the waiter did not bring sugar or a spoon - we again had to ask for it.
My soup was spilled all over the serving plate when the waiter placed it in front of me.
I sent this to the manager at The Coach Grill but no reply yet
On behalf of my wife and me I must commend The Coach Grill on providing us with an outstanding night before Valentines dinner.
Everything we ate was terrific but the Porterhouse steak for 2 was one of the best we've ever had in the Greater Boston area.
Our waiter, Dave, was always checking to make sure everything was fine.
We made a great decision by coming last night vs tonight while you'll probably feed 400 people in utter chaos.
We ate on a Saturday night and it was nice and busy--with a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Kevin was our server and he was first class. Very friendly and professional, he made great recommendations along with being at the table just enough, but not too much. He was extremely knowledgeable on the menu-he's a great ambassador for the restaurant and for the collection of restaurants! By the way, the steaks were well prepared along with the starters and dessert--nice wine list!
I had the NY strip steak and my boyfriend had the prime rib. Both were cooked perfectly and very tasty. We shared the gigantic baked potato and it was more than enough as a side. We were there celebrating our anniversary and were a bit disappointed the restaurant does nothing to acknowledge special occasions.
The Coach Grill never disappoints - visited recently for our anniversary and they quickly brought over 2 glasses of champagne...Compliments of the house...nice touch. The menu is mostly steak driven but good seafood and other choices abound including a variety of salads, etc. My wife LOVED the chowder which was full of clams and a buttery broth. We shared a bone in filet that was cooked to perfection and very flavorful and then added on a lobster tail for her as well as the lobster risotto ($14 and a HUGE portion of great lobster risotto!!).
Its a steak house so expect a bit loud but it was great - plenty of Sinatra playing and a beautiful fire burning in the main DR...always a treat and can't wait to come back.
We always enjoy dining at the Coach Grill. This was the best ever. The folks there are always so welcoming and accommodating. The food was prepared just perfectly and was delicious.
Our server, Kevin, was knowledgeable, friendly, and always appeared at just the right time - never felt rushed even though there were lots of folks waiting for tables I- it was very relaxing. Looking forward to our next visit.
We only waited a few minutes for our reservation. The bread was delivered hot from the oven. I had the petite filet, which was done to perfection. However, it looked rather lonely on the plate with a little piece of red pepper and a little piece of onion. I had ordered a side of spinach salad cold, which was served before the main meal, and was plentiful. My husband had the crab cakes, which were excellent and had some Mac and cheese along with salsa on the plate. The presentation was better than the filet. Because we had heard you need to order “sides”, we ordered French fries and fried string beans. The “sides” were plentiful. I didn’t realize the beans had batter before they were fried. I should have ordered the beans sautéed. It was my birthday and the waitress brought a slice of ice cream mud pie (complimentary), which was delicious and finished the meal perfectly. I would go back.
Consistently good, but NOISY! The best place to sit is the area behind the bar where the fireplace is warm and away from the front door. The onion soup is superb, the steaks good (but who can bear Abe & Louie’s?), but there usually something on the menu to please everyone.
Have been to the Coach Grill many times and have always enjoyed it although not sure we will rush back. Seems like things have changed there. Portions were pathetically small considering the prices they charge. In our party we ordered the chicken piccata which was good but three tiny medaliiins. Also salmon was ordered- tiny thin piece on that too. Food was good but hate spending a lot for a meal and leaving hungry
We have gone here at least twice a year for special occasions over the last 20 years. It was okay but the service seems to be going downhill over the years. I felt the service was at an Outback restaurant level. For the price on the menu it should be better, like it used to be.
