About

Located on the ground floor of Hotel on Rivington in NYC’s Lower East Side, CO-OP Food & Drink is based on the co-operative principle of bringing together different services and products under one space for everyone’s benefit. Under the leadership of Executive Chef Victor Startek, they bring together different ingredients, flavors and cultures that reflect the diversity that is the Lower East Side.

This philosophy allows guests to enjoy a variety of plates such as the Tuna Tuna Yuzu Sushi Roll (w/ spicy tuna, tuna, avocado & yuzu dynamite sauce), Shredded Pork Belly Tacos (w/ Ancho BBQ, Smoked Creama, Beets), Fried Chicken Biscuits (w/ ranch & pickled jalapeno aioli) and Miso Cured Salmon (w/ peanut sauce, watermelon radish & pickled celery root). In the spirit of a co-operative, most of the dishes are designed to be shared family-style through multiple courses.

This LES restaurant is not a standout but excellent if you are looking for inventive ways that Japanese cooking can be served. Not everything here is Japanese (e.g. . the pulled pork slider was great). The miso cured salmon dish was excellent and the meat moist with a nice shredded lemon sprinkled salad on the side. The mustard glazed short ribs were tender and flavorful. All sides cost extra. This practice is not exactly to my liking but I do have to say that the miso glazed mushrooms (several varieties) were excellent.

If you go early (Say, before 8 p.m.) it will be relatively quiet. Go after that and all bets are off. The shape of the room and the hard surfaces are guaranteed to make sound bounce all over the place.

Culinary perfection at a reasonable price coupled with immaculate chandeliers and carefully curated lounge music- I'm in love!
My favorites were their fried chicken (on a biscuit with picked jalapenos) and their decadent sweet potato pie (topped with bruleed marshmallow).

I reserved a table for 8 for a bday brunch at 2pm over a week prior to our reservation. I called the day before and was told there were no issues and everything was set. However 3 hours before we were supposed to be there, the restaurant calls and asks if we can come in earlier because they close at 3pm (kitchen closes at 2:45). I was furious! Why didnt they say anything before and did they really expect me to change my reservation (which was made at 2pm for a reason) and try to reschedule with 7 different people coming from all over town a few hours before? We arrived for brunch frazzled and anxious, but alas the food was damn good and we werent rushed out at all (stayed until after 4pm). Just be warned brunch is only to 3pm on weekends.

Food and service was poor. They had us in the back room and barely waited on us. Food was also horrible.

A great place for a romantic date; came in for Valentine's Day and was very impressed. The food was great, and the service was wonderful; I wouldn't hesitate to come back or to recommend Co-op to a friend. Truffle popcorn is a wonderful treat!

We had the prefix dinner. The food was mediocre and the four courses were rushed. The wine pairings were horrible.

I was just lookin for shelter from the stormy weather a couple of days ago, when i stumbled for the thousand time w Co-Op. I went in to warm down and down some warm liquor. I found the menu very appealing, so i called a couple of friends to join me and had a delicious dinner for an extrmely reasonable price. The sides are delicious and the sliders nicely done-if u order the beef slider make sure to ask for rare or else it'll be overcooked. The duck rice was exquisite and the duck perfectly cooked. Definitely coming back

Overall the food was quite good, I had the Short Rib and my girlfriend had the Steak Frites. The server was great; the kitchen, however, was slammed and our food took over an hour to get out of the kitchen. I do not blame the server and he was nice enough to comp our drinks so at least their service is good! The food was good enough and the fact that we had appetizers and good conversation meant that everything made for a good night.

Food was very good but service was lacking esp since no one was there.

It took us an hour to receive food for a group of 6 when the restaurant was not crowded. The food was delicious but the wait would make me not suggest this restaurant to any friends. I would not return.

Great vibe, lots of energy, good foods. We had miso salmon, buffalo brussel sprouts and taco flight, which were all great. Great art photos on the wall of celebs and notable NYC personalities. On a side note, the main dinning room literally had about 25 women to every one man, which could not have been a coincidence. Guessing the owner or manager is giving discounts to groups of girls. It inspired my wife to joke that she should have left me at home and had a girls night!

I went here when it first opened as a pop-up. It was infinitely better than because it has gotten pretty stale and boring now. I was pretty underwhelmed.

Read a few articles on CO-OP so I decided to try this place out. I didn't get to sit in the room with all the portraits because the hostess said there was no room for me and my boyfriend even though all the tables were empty and I had a reservation. Nonetheless the area outside of the portrait room was still cozy and chic. We ordered the spicy tuna with crispy rice, the CO-OP roll, and the spicy salmon roll. Also ordered a side of truffled mac and cheese. Everything was delicious! The drinks were not very well mixed but still decent. I would certainly go back again.

I had higher hopes for Co-op but I guess you get what you pay for ($22 entree + unlimited mimosas/bellinis for brunch). We definitely got our money's worth in cocktails but the quality of the meals was subpar. 2/8 people's orders were pulled off the line before they were ready so they were completely wrong. It took so long for the staff to fix the meals that everyone else was already done with their food once their meals were finally ready. The servers weren't too knowledgeable of the dishes but did their best to rectify the mistakes of the kitchen. Overall the poor service took away quality time from my friends and I; for that reason, I don't think I'll be back.

I went here last month and loved it. Thought all the food was amazing. Truffle mac n cheese, sliders, co-op roll, dumplings, duck, etc. I went back on Saturday and half the menu had been replaced. Might have changed chefs. The coop roll is still there, and definitely something to order. Rest of the food was okay.

I initially tried CoOp during restaurant week a year ago & based on my experience w/the food and the service, I had not planned on returning. It was listed among the LES boozy brunch joints to try & a friend had scheduled it & I was forced to try again. It was really, surprisingly, great. The service & food were amazing & the drinks were flowing. We must have stayed four hours and had a great time. We didn't feel rushed and it really was an epic #SundayFunday. A few months later we were told that there were no longer unlimited drinks, but they had changed their policy to three drinks per person. I suggested limiting the time instead as most of us live for a good boozy brunch on the weekend. They haven't & we haven't been back.

Food was good, but not amazing. Not worth the value.
Service was good, but lack of individuality.
Ambience was ok, quite empty for dinner hour. The music was changing into 3 different genres within the first 15mins we arrived.
I was expecting more.

We had a lovely dinner with great wine and food. Our waiter was spectacular, friendly, helpful and nice.
After dinner we went to the bar for drinks. The bar is beautiful, and the bartender was a doll. We really had a great night. Can't wait to go back!
