Clydz is a lively New Brunswick destination with a subterranean atmosphere, reminiscent of a 1920's speakeasy. The freshly rose-petaled entrance is a prelude to a truly unique dining experience. At Clydz, the fare is anything but ordinary. The menu is comprised of "exotic" Contemporary American Cuisine, showcasing items such as kangaroo, ostrich, wild boar and python. Traditional favorites such as filet Mignon, scallops and duck are well worth the visit.
The cuisine is not the only element that sets Clydz apart from the rest. The trendy bar, enhanced by fish tanks and fireplaces, offers an extensive and adventurous martini and cocktail selection. Clydz own “private label” vodka was introduced fall ’11 with great success.
When making a reservation please keep in mind, tables will only be held 15 minutes past the reservation time. Due to high volume during dinner, an $18 food minimum per person is required. Reservations for cocktails only are not accepted.

Clydz Ratings and Reviews
This was our third dinner at Clydz. Our second visit was during Restaurant week, and the service was rushed and the food mediocre. We decided to try it again and were glad we did. The food was excellent ... especially the bison steak and the duck. The service was also excellent. Highly recommended for those seeking unique food well-prepared and excellent service.
My girlfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary by trying out a new place with a unique menu. We were not disappointed! From the incredibly attentive and friendly staff to the beautiful dining room, Clydz left nothing to be desired. They even set our table with rose petals scattered across it to help in our celebration! Great food, great wine, great experience! We will be back.
It’s a little tight but cozy. A little loud but more vibrant than noisy . The meal was absolutely fabulous. The menu features some unique fare, all our choices were cooked and seasoned to perfection. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The entire staff was pleasant and helpful. The cocktails were well crafted and the wine list abundant. Clydz is a rare find and a value as well. I highly recommend it . A great spot for jaded foodies. We will return often.
This was not our first time to Clydz and the experience was just as good as past dinners.
I started with a glass of wine and my boyfriend with a cocktail. Appetizers were the cucumber and crab salad for me and the crab cakes for him. Both were full of crab and very tasty.
Dinner was the organic chicken for me and the bison hanger steak for him. Again, both were tasty, flavorful, and his steak was cooked to his liking.
The noise level was a bit high in the dining room, as there were a few large groups, but once they left it quieted down. We generally eat at the bar when we dine, but Saturday night is not the time to do that because they have a very lively bar.
Dinner for 2 ran us $150.00, prior to the tip, and that is generally what we pay.
We absolutely love the menu at Clydz & usually try something completely different every time. Our evening was "interupted" by a very loud crowd of eight that didn't have much respect for the other diners; they yelled across the tables & spoke & laughed very loudly. Most of our dinner conversation was about how loud they were or about how they had stopped for a while (when the entrees came out). I thought someone in management should have gone over & said something to them. While this evening wasn't "perfect", it will not stop us from coming back again & again.
My son is a senior at Rutgers and we wanted to take him out to dinner on a Saturday night. We chose Clydz based on the great reviews of others and we were not disappointed.
Our server Craig was fantastic and provided entertainment and a suburb knowledge of the dishes and drinks. He helped make it a very enjoyable evening. Our food was excellent and unique as we ate appetizers, main courses of Bison, Gator, Lamb, and a couple of desserts. We had a wonderful night and a lot of fun. I highly recommend.
We were visiting that area of NJ. Prior to coming out we found Clydz online and thought the menu looked interesting.
We were not disappointed. The duck breast and diver scallops were fantastic. The wine list was very extensive. Service was very attentive and personable.
The only thing that could've made it better would've been if the scallops were wrapped with prosciutto. But that's what I do at home.
Yes, we plan on coming back to Clydz next trip out there.
Kudos to the chefs and service staff.
We loved the atmosphere, the eclectic cuisine options, and the service. Our meal, unfortunately was nothing spectacular for the price of fine dining. Although the accoutrements (couscous, asparagus, sauces, etc) were very yummy the entree meats (the game trio and the veal) were disappointung. Expected them to be out of this world, but they lacked flavor, and they all seemed overcooked.
The food and service were great. Ordered 4 appetizers including deviled eggs which were delish. Wasn't crazy about the stuffed squid. Marrow was good & the stewed tomatoes were nice and peppery. Alligator in the blanket was tasty and spicy. Our 4 entrees were also good. The salad was delicious. Been to Clydz several times and will definitely be back.
In one sentence: The first bite of food bought for my 19 month old was hard plastic.
The manager came over and was very apologetic, which was very much appreciated and offered to comp us desert. When we went to order desert they brought us two menu's so we both looked to make a decision. My wife ordered first and then when I started to order, the waiter looked at me and said that he didn't know that they were comping desert for both of us... Which was fine because, based upon the bread pudding we did order, I wasn't missing out on anything.
The good: the menu did look exciting and had I been in the mood I would have tried something outside of the norm. Instead, I went for the filet. It was a very good filet. Good flavor. Cooked just the way I wanted. One side was bacon wrapped asparagus, which was decent nothing to either brag about or really criticize. Was unimpressive but good. It met expectations. Although, my wife enjoyed it more than I did. The other side was purple and white potatoes. The purple potatoes were fantastic! Perfectly cooked. The white potatoes were still pretty hard and seemed relatively undercooked.
My wife ordered the rib eye and enjoyed it. She was very pleased with the reduction and the beets.
The cocktail menu was probably the most exciting section of the menu and would definitely encourage people to stop in to try some of their cocktails.
Overall: I would go back for cocktails but the food, for the price/experience was incredibly over priced. We will definitely not be going back here for dinner again.
