Contemporary American
Clydz is a lively New Brunswick destination with a subterranean atmosphere, reminiscent of a 1920's speakeasy. At Clydz, the fare is anything but ordinary. The menu is comprised of small plates and entrees, ranging from a selection of steaks, scallops, duck, house made pastas and desserts.

The cuisine is not the only element that sets Clydz apart from the rest. The trendy bar, enhanced by fish tanks and fireplaces, offers adventurous martini and cocktail selections.

When making a reservation please keep in mind, tables will only be held 15 minutes past the reservation time.

If you are making reservations for parties larger than 8 or do not see a reservation available, please call the restaurant at 732-846-6521.

We look forward to seeing you.

Cheers!

Amazing drinks and good appetizers, service is fairly decent as well. Entrees are NOT good, almost inedible. Overall will come again to the bar section for drinks and appetizers, do dinner somewhere else, food is not good.

There is not one negative thing to say about our experience at Clydz. Fantastic appetizer and entrees, and all the staff we encountered were extremely frienfly and professional. The Cucumber Gimlet and Bourbon & Cigarettes cocktails were outstanding. The chef came out and introduced herself, and wanted to make sure we were enjoying our meals. All around a terrific dining experience and we’re looking forward to going back. The fishtanks were very cool too

We are repeat customers and we love the bar area and the restaurant (although it can get pretty packed). On our last visit there was a large party and the noise level was so high, my wife could barely hear each other across our table on the other side of the room. It’s not Clydz fault, but it was just annoying.

Dined at Clydz on Mothers Day 2022. They had a special 3 course menu. The variety of the menu and the size of the courses were atypical, it was a tremendous value. Typically prix fix menus have limited options and much smaller portion sizes, this was not the case at Clydz. Chef Jackie and her team take a lot of pride and are clearly expert at preparing top notch products with flawless technique. I started with the duck confit gnocchi. The gnocchi were clearly house made, very light and pillowy, perfectly paired with a cream sauce and a perfect complement to the duck and mushroom confit. My entree was a really thick heritage pork chop that was frenched bone in, very juicy and perfectly cooked. An expert task for such a thick cut. I finished with a very moist carrot cake, that let the sweetness of the carrots come through. The front of the house and the kitchen worked in unison to time the dishes perfectly. A thoroughly enjoyable experience and a value at the prix fix cost, we will most definitely be returning to Clydz to see what Chef Jackie and her team plans next.

Lunch took over two hours. From the time our appetizers were cleared to get our entre was over an hour. Got our dessert to go. Used to come here a lot. Maybe because it was mothers day they were overwhelmed, but for nearly $350 for 4 of us, it was not a great meal.

My friends and I had a great time!! There are so many unique cocktails to choose from and the food is to die for! I was not expecting such an upscale menu as the person who recommended Clyde’s to me described it as more of a casual restaurant and bar. I had the strip steak which was cooked perfectly; the sauce is a kind of deep flavored gravy which paired so well with the potatoes, asparagus and steak. For dessert I had the chocolate soufflé which was also perfectly cooked; it had a sweet raspberry filling that doesn’t overpower the dish. The GM and staff are super friendly and the bartenders are skilled. My friend’s words to me during the car ride home were, “I had a better time than I expected tonight”, to which I agreed. I will be recommending Clyde’s to friends and can’t wait for my next visit!

We ended up missing our reservation at Clydz bc I was told the restaurant was much closer to the theater than it actually was. We walked much farther than I was physically capable of (I have bad knees & back issues) before we turned around & went someplace closer. This is why I made it a point to call & ask before making this reservation. Very misleading & disappointing.

Nothing really positive to report outside of cocktails which were excellent but overpriced. Food was terrible. Pierogis were nasty, undercooked onions and bad sauce. Grilled octopus was grand total of two pieces. Tacos had too much pickled cabbage. Only thing we ate that was good was Alligators in a blanket, but beware very spicy. While staff was courteous, service speed was awful. 2 1/2 hours to dine. Won’t return to this place.

Glad to be back dining here again. Our food was very good and it looks like they are in the process of expanding their menu. The dining room looks a little shabby and could definitely use a refresh. This is a great option if you are attending a theater event in downtown New Brunswick.

We had the fried calamari, empanadas, fried olives (so good) and the salad with grilled shrimp. The shrimp were delicous a cooked perfect. I would definetely go back next time I'm in the area.

The restaurant is a little off the beaten path (or so it seemed to out-of-towners). Parking was difficult as well. The restaurant is basement level and the bar area was full of students. The ambiance was a little dark and run down but the food was very good. A diverse menu not the usual stuff and all well prepared. Worth the chance to try something new.

Went here for my wife and son's birthday (yes they are born on the same day, no it wasn't planned). The drinks were great, nothing like them anywhere else, totally unique and delicious. The food selection was good, (note updated menu not yet online) our dinners were cooked to perfection and very satisfying. This is not an inexpensive dinner, but it is good for a special occasion.

I used to frequent this place a few years ago and it was a favorite spot for date nights for us. The menu has changed substantially. It is so pared down from what it was. The options were not great. There is a ton of junk food on the menu now which I assume is there to cater to the Rutgers crowd. The old menu was far better. The food was prepared well and tasty but the options were so limited that there are far better choices for restaurants in the area. Also, on a Thursday night, the place was basically empty. Not sure if that is all Covid related but it didn't strike me that they have the same popularity they once had. Maybe its new ownership. Anyway, I wont be returning to Clydz. Just not what it once was.

Admittedly, I was disappointed with Clydz. I went on their website and checked everything out having never been there before and was really looking forward to it. When you get there, the bar area has a great feel but the back dining area is a bit cheap. The tables are too low and the chairs are too high so you can't even cross your legs without pushing away from the table. We ordered the ricotta (which was more like a sour cream with balsamic), the charcuterie platter (that was delivered on a regular plate and was very sparse with old, hardened cheese) and the fries (the fries were good but nothing special). For the main course, we had the hangar steak and the pappardelle. The steak was good but the pappardelle was completely overcooked and all of the noodles were lumped together under the bolognese sauce like a big dumpling. For drinks we had dirty martinis and frankly, they were horrible. I love a good dirty martini and I couldn't even finish mine. We switched to diet cokes instead. With all of this said, the service was good and the people were very friendly but I won't be back.

Definitely NOT the old Clyde!! Menu on line is not the menu at the restaurant. Drinks really small. Food was more of a “college “ type of menu. The Clyde from before Covid was amazing, great menu, great food and great drinks!! Very disappointed will not be going there again. Our waitress was really sweet, she knew how upset we were and our bartender was really sweet as well.
