Clyde's of Reston
Clyde's at Reston Town Center has mahogany and leather, antique model planes, boats and equestrian artifacts. Outdoor dining next to the Pavilion April thru October. American-style saloon menu.
**Every night we offer a Late Night menu until 1:30 am!**
Food and service were blah. The lobster bisque (special of the day) was burned and gross. Apparently you can get free parking code but was not offered this even after asking about it.
This was not what we expected at all. The service was horrendous and the three black hairs in a burger were beyond gross! Other than taking our order our waitress never came and checked on us, didn’t confirm our order we received was what we ordered (which it was not) and seemed super irritated when we literally had to flag down a waitress from another section to get us water. One of my colleagues ended up physically getting up to get our water. It’s unfortunate —since our waitress was training a new hire, too. It would be unfortunate to have a new hire observe such poor customer service and think it was acceptable.
Excellent place, our group meets there for lunch at least once a month. Highly recommended
My favorite restaurant- food is great-crab cakes are better than Baltimore
Love the aesthetic yet comfortable vibe
A cheerful cozy place
Reasonable prices, friendly staff
Sat at a section at 8:30 (restaurant not full) and waited over 15 minutes for a waiter to come by, then had to speak to manger to even get water and a server. Service never improved. Manager did take 50% off bill, but didn't make up for a terrible experience. I know why I never dine at Clyde's! Better options at RTC.
Celebrated Wife’s birthday with a party of 12. TJ, our server was excellent. Checked on us often and provided updates on entrees. TJ was very familiar with the restaurant. Food was great! Service was great! Costs, very competing.
We have been going to this Clyde's for many years. While overall it is still good, it reminds me of the sports star who, as they age, loses a step. Service was a bit slow and could have been more professional. The food was good but not quite as good as previous visits.
I had a very nice waitress. Really nice experience and the food was really good!
Had a great dinner with my girlfriend and had very friendly service and great food!
Good for business lunch
Worst restaurant experience to date! We had a 6:30 reservation and were promptly seated. This is where it went downhill immediately! Drinks took forever to come, server blamed bar being busy. Manager came over and took our order, server was mia. We ordered 2 salads, a kids meal and 1 entree at about 6:45. We waited, waited and waited. My son ate bread. Our food never came out. We left at 7:25 with no food. No one ever asked to refill our drinks either. Thank goodness my son at least got some bread. Never again
This was a great server. The lobster roll was fantastic and I shouldn’t have had the Oreo cheesecake - but I am oh so glad I did!
Great experience! Delicious food and service! Service was terrific, even for a large party of nine!
I always enjoy the Clyde’s lobster special and this was no exception.
Went for lobster. It was wonderful. The truffled mac and cheese was amazing. Will be returning soon.
Lobster special was outstanding! Service was good. Crying baby was a bit of a distraction though certainly not the restaurant's fault. We will be back.
pleasant experience however the waiter appeared a bit confused and we had to remind him several time of order items still outstanding. He as pleasant and friendly - just very distracted.
Crabcakes were good and meaty but overly peppery - half as much would have been adequate.
Totally disappointed. I eat at Tower Oaks in Rockville almost weekly and it is a totally different experience. I went on line to compare the menu. Reston listed several different entre's as well as desserts - they had none of them.
Waitress did not offer bread, rarely came back, food took forever to get to the table and the desserts (two milkshakes and a piece of chocolate cake to go) took almost 20 minutes to get to the table. The adult drinks were so strong those that ordered them couldn't finish them - and they tasted nothing like the description.
We were sitting at a round table and the noise level was so high we could barely hear the person sitting next to us let alone across the table. I know that all Clyde's are loud but Reston was so loud it made our whole dining experience unpleasant. I personally will never go back to the Reston location.
Great service. Great food. Good time w groups big or small.
We had a good meal but it wasn't wonderful except for one member's lobster shepherd's pie. Too, our waiter seemed totally unengaged and quite dour (perhaps he was having a bad night).
Food was good, but - especially by contrast with runners and front office staff - the surly waiter that could not wait to get away from our table fast enough, whether we finished talking to him or not, kind of spoiled the atmosphere.
The basket for shells, bib, lobster cracker and tiny fork arrived about 10 min after the lobster was served, no apology offered.
Don't know what his circumstances were, maybe someone shot his dog, but that's not really an attitude to bring to this line of work. Maybe Clyde's should consider hiring more students, someone who wants the job and does it more cheerfully.
We celebrated a Birthday-all 8 of us enjoyed our dinners. Filet mignon was particularly good!
Very nice lobster was good but alittle Small
Should serve a veggie or corn like a Boston boil.
Hanger steak was tough and unsliced. Steak and lobster was not the special that was advrtised. I was charged for the two separate meals but only received one accompaniment which was corn with too much red pepper. It took an hour to get waited on and receive meal. Won't be back.
The food and value were outstanding. Service was ok but not up to Clydes standards as a bit slow, no beer glass brought with beer served and then ultimately presented with hot glass probably right out of dryer. Had to ask for steak knives even though we ordered steak. Overall we enjoy Clydes and have dined at all locations. This one suffers from acoustic issues and very loud when restaurant is full and hard to have conversation with those sitting at the table. Best alternative here to address the noise level is try for their outdoor seating option weather permitting.
Went in Labor Day weekend. Had a brunch menu which was a pleasant surprise. Food was excellent. Background noise was intrusive. Service was good.
Love the specials this month. Clyde’s discontinued specials last year but this month the lobster and filet are back. Keep the specials from now on.
Brought a client to dinner. They sat six of us in a small round booth in a corner. I politely asked for a larger table and was told twice that other tables in the restaurant were reserved for larger parties. It was 5:30 and the restaurant was empty. I had to ask a third time and they finally moved us. The service was sub par after that. There are too many other options in Reston Town Center to return to Clyde’s.
We went to Clydes specifically for the Lobster special at they had sent me an email for. I asked the host if they had Lobster that evening and he said he wasn't sure and seated us. Our waitress was marginal at best. We placed our order in about 20 minutes later she came back and said they had run out of lobster. Mind you this was at 5:30. Very unprofessional all the way around. Having been in the restaurant business for years I had never worked at a place that didn't let the staff know that they were out of a certain item for tickly a special. Clydes has really slipped in the past few years.
Waited forever to get our drinks and then food. Then meals did not come out with complete side dishes, they came 20 mins later
Must have been a problem
In the kitchen.
Three strikes and you’re out. Unfortunately the service in the Reston Clyde’s has been consistently poor for us. Slow and disorganized staff... in our last (and I do mean last!) meal there we waited for 40 minutes after ordering to get our food. The waitress was absent... making it impossible for us to even ask about the meal or heaven forbid get another drink. We had to actually get up from the table and find a manager - after that the order was “expressed” through the kitchen. My assumption is that the order was never actually placed and the server wasn’t on top of her game to realize that. To be fair, they did comp the meal... but the last couple of times we’ve been there we’ve had consistently lousy service. There are MANY different options nearby so check one of them out and have an enjoyable evening.
Service for food and drinks was incredibly slow. Great outdoor dining area but barking dogs in the open area next door.
Two large table supposedly ordered before us so it took an hour from the time we sat down until the time we got our food which was quite frustrating. The waitress was very apologetic and gave us a discount but we wish we had known that before we sat down or before we ordered. We were hungry and did not want to eat more bread and ruin our appetites for what we ordered. Her service was good but the delay in food was out of her hands.
Everything was great love the idea of bringing my own cake and wine
We've been to Clydes in Reston on numerous occasions and with a large group and have always enjoyed the experience. But this time was different. We had a group of 12 family members, including two toddlers. We had a 5:45 reservation on a Saturday evening, well before the restaurant became busy.
We ordered the kids' meals before ordering appetizers so they would be occupied, and these were brought to the table promptly. Everything went well until we finished our appetizers. We had a bit of a wait and then the steak knives were set, so I assumed that our entrees would be brought out soon. The waiter then went persona non grata.
About fifteen minutes later, I went to the servers station to inquire about our meals, and was promised that they'd be checked on. Ten minutes later, a manager came over and talked to a member of our party. I got up to tell him that we had waited over 25 minutes since the steak knives were set, with no explanation for the very long wait. The manager said something to the effect that I was keeping him from going to the kitchen to check. I was boiling at this point, not because of our long wait so much as having no explanation and not seeing our waiter for a half-hour.
A bit later, several entrees arrived, including mine. At least five minutes after that, the remaining entrees arrived. My entree was cold when we all started eating. My daughter had to take the toddlers home at that point because it was nearly 8:00.
The waiter was very apologetic and attentive after that, but the meal was ruined for me. I was very embarrassed in front of my family because of the slow service.
The waiter comped us the appetizers, which I appreciated, but it was a shame that our experience was not up to Clydes usual standards. I understand that mistakes can be made in ordering and in the kitchen, especially with a large group, so an explanation was in order. Letting us "hang out to dry" like that is inexcusable.
Went for a birthday very nice. Was seated quick with the app.
Accomodating staff. Surprised that several items couldn’t be adjusted but the waiter suggested a great alternative.
Took server 10 minutes to initially come to our table, we ordered drinks and 30 minutes still had not received drinks. We left and ate another restaurant across the street. Additionally extremely noisy.
I love this restaurant. The food is fresh and the menu changes often. Very nice place.
I now remember why I haven't been here in years. The service was HORRID. Our server checked on us ONCE in 42 minutes. Yes, I timed him. At that point, it had taken 15 minutes to get our drinks - we had to pull a manager over and he got them for us. I'm pretty sure the server forgot to put our app in, because it arrived right before our meal (after we had asked where it was...) The noise level was out of control. The table next to us complained about it multiple times before they finally turned it down. The manager should have come by more than once after we specifically told him the issues with the server. The table across from us also complained. Food was decent - but all was overshadowed by the bad service.
Of course the server was super fast to grab the check when we left - obviously his only motivation. But I know he was very disappointed.
Clyde's needs to focus on customer service training... after our horrible experience I was sharing it with friends and heard many similar stories. You have a great location - take advantage of it and make your customers happy!
