Clyde's of Reston
Clyde's at Reston Town Center has mahogany and leather, antique model planes, boats and equestrian artifacts. Outdoor dining next to the Pavilion April thru October. American-style saloon menu.
Fathers Day. Glad it was just hubby and I . Service was bad. Table across from us may have prefer $15 worth of food and received so much attention. We had to wave down servers (ours was nowhere in sight) whenever we wanted something and not once did Anatole ask how our food was or if we wanted refills. Not a good experience .
They seemed understaffed. The restaurant wasn’t that crowded, but we had a long wait for everything: drinks, then dinner, then we had to energetically flag people down for an iced tea refill; then more waiting to get and pay the bill.
The meatloaf I ordered tasted fine, but was not hot. I would have sent it back but after waiting so long I was hungry!
The food at Clyde's is reliable American fare. Everything is locally sourced, thoughtfully prepared and well presented. Even though our first orders of steak frites had been sitting under a heat lamp, and cooked well beyond the medium rare that we had ordered, the manager made things right. All orders were replaced and comped by the manager. This cost them a star, but I would highly recommend the steak frites to anyone. We thoroughly enjoyed the service and will back to Clyde's very soon. Thank you to Clyde's management for putting their customer satisfaction first.
Say on the patio on a beautiful summer night. It was the best part of the evening. Service was erratic. Long gaps between order and action. Mussels were delicious but asked for more bread that didn’t arrived until well after we we finished with the mussels. My ribeye steak was a beautiful piece of meat but over cooked. I asked for medium rare and got medium. Kind of ruins it for me. Maybe just an off night for the restaurant?
Amazing food and service. I appreciate our server, Britney, asking about food allergies and helping navigate the menu. I really enjoyed the Reuben sandwich and pickled artichoke and shrimp appetizer.
The dinner was good and the service was great. We had Maryland scallops which were tasty and well presented, boulibaise which was well prepared and excellent and a strip steak with sides. Service was with a smile and professional.
Uninspired menu - no specials.
We had two children below 3 years old. They did great thanks to where you sat us and the attention you provided. Thanks so much for everything!!!
Clyde's was excellent. The food was delicious and the service great, I would recommend Clyde's of Reston for a evening with friends or for date night.
We have come to this location since it opened. This by far the worst experience we had. We chose the outdoor seating for my mom's 81st birthday. I arrived a little behind the rest of the family. 15 minutes later a server appeared to get me a drink. We ordered right away and it took another 45 minutes to get our lunch. My husband's fish tacos were the worst I had ever tasted, super dry and the fish was not fresh (this was a Thursday). We watched parties that arrived with us be served and leave, other parties that arrived well after our stay be served before us. The few times we tried to get our server's attention we were just ignored so we stopped and asked others for assistance. The highlight was the woman who understood the parking saga at RTC, she was able to come over with validation codes and make sure we were able to validate both our vehicles. We weren't able to leave from our 12 start lunch until 2:10, which made my mom miss her birthday mani and pedi. What a colossal disappointment. Don't see a return trip here anytime soon.
Good good, interior needs an update. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
The gazpacho and pasta Bolognese is fabulous. Clydes Reston is a hidden gem these days.
Good food, decent prices
Food is always excellent. I ordered the crab cake for the 1st time. Very disappointed. Size of a quarter and full of filler.
I was told Salmon will be cooked as medium which is perfect for me but it came and it was obviously very well done. Pork chop was salty and my son's chicken fingers were so thick and was still pink that he didn't even eat but just a couple of bites. We ordered chicken buffallo 1/2 dozen and the ones that came were really tiny qings. My child called it mini wings. I guess we went there with high expectations and then we left somewhat disappointed. The worst part is our server never really check on us and we had to wait for drinka to be refilled. I got very annoyed when there were 4 different groups who came about 10 minutes after us and they got their food fisrt. The guy who came and ordered after we did got his food first which is the same food I ordered. No reason for us to want to come back. Wished we stuck with original plan to go to McCormick.
Clydes is great for a date night or business dinner.
Always enjoy the Patio. Ideally there needs to be a way to reserve patio setting in advance, maybe being a Clyde member and with a small reservation charge. For these spring/summer months for those who frequent should have some priority.
This had to be the worst dining experience I've had in a long time. Here's why...
Our waiter did not know the menu very well. We wanted a pasta dish which is posted on their online menu (GEMELLI PRIMAVERA), but he didn't even know anything about it. When asked for an alternate veggie pasta he said he would check what they could do. After ordering the waiter didn't came back for at least 30 minutes, finally when he did he told my wife that he just but in buttered pasta as her order since they didn't have any pesto (never asked if that was ok), and then I never received my salad until the mains arrived. Some tables had bread, so after not being offered any we finally asked for it at that 30+ minute waiter check-in.
My wife originally wanted the veggie burger, but they ran out the day before. The menu says they are made fresh, but I ask if they are made fresh why did they not make any today? Usually good restaurants that have actual chefs can make a vegetarian pasta dish, instead my wife received the 'kids pasta', which was plain pasta noodles with a slight hint of butter...needless to say less than impressed. We paid $12 for a quarter box of plain noodles boiled. Highway robbery! I ordered their spring rice bowl and a full size salad. The spring rice bowl portion size was ridiculously small. It was smaller than my salad and cost twice as much. I looked around and all the other entrees in the restaurant were decent sized! The flavor of the rice bowl was nothing to write home about.
With the lousy service, subpar food and expensive prices we will not be coming back here.
This was the first time going to Clyde’s of Reston where the service was super slow and the food was just ok. Two meals were brought out at the same time but the third person waited at least 20 more min for their food. The burger was blackened on one side although it was ordered medium. Maybe it was an off night or new chef/wait staff.
We had an excellent dinner with friends. Menu includes a nice range of choices, including some traditional favorites like meatloaf, which I had. It was delicious. The roasted chicken and crab cakes were also very good. We splurged on desserts that were also excellent. We had a new server who was attentive and very friendly, although she was still learning the menu. Her pleasant attitude and interest in serving us offset any limitations in her knowledge. Clyde's is always a good choice for a nice meal in a really nice atmosphere.
Great. Clyde’s is always great and dependable foe great food.
The service was not nearly as top-notch as it is at Tower Oaks. And at 2:30 pm, being limited to the brunch menu was a big downer.
What happened to Clyde’s at Reston Town. The service was pathetic ... staff wondering aimlessly around the patio with no clue as as to where to deliver food.. served the wrong wine .. and although the food was fine it took forever to be served and the patio was empty. Have been eating at this Clyde’s for 20 plus years and worst dining experience there ever. Suggest you need new management.
On arrival, after a greeting by the hostess we were left standing as the server and hostess debated about table assignments or something. After over a minute of standing there I cleared my throat and they woke up and finally escorted US to a table.
After the server poured my wife's water she pointed at my glass that was probably a bit out of reach. She never asked if I would pass it to her.
My wife ordered a salmon & vegetable dish and I ordered a crabcake dish with French fries.
My wife's salmon was very good. Unfortunately her vegetables were near inedible with most of the potatoes being overcooked and the other vegetables being undercooked. My crabcake was very small and dry from overcooking with the bottom being burned. The French fries were overcooked to the point of being like potato chips and luke warm at best. They obviously had been sitting for while.
To add to experience as we ate the noise level in the room we were in (horse sport theme) rose to a level that we couldn't carry on a conversation. We rushed to finish what was edible and left without having desert or coffee or tea.
We had been to this restaurant previously for lunch when we visited the area and enjoyed it. But after this experience I will not go there again and I will not recommend it to anyone.
I have been a patron of this restaurant for many years and it is my "go-to" place to eat in Reston. The food is always superior, as is the service. In recent times, they have gone back to taking actual reservations rather than adding me to a "wait list" and this is a great improvement. I remain a loyal customer.
Always been able to trust Clyde's for a diverse menu of quality choices all served in quality portions. Outside patio is a nice place too
The food and service was great.
The kitchen accommodated my request for a flour free soft shell crab brilliantly.
Brought a friend visiting from the west coast to Clyde’s (a favorite of ours) for lunch. The restaurant was not terribly busy for 1:30 pm and we were seated promptly. It took several minutes for a server to show and VERY long for drinks to arrive. After raving about Clyde’s our friend was a little surprised. Again…not busy. When the drinks arrived we placed our order along with an appetizer. After waiting 20 mins for the appetizer our entree’s arrive with it. The server was very kind and brought the entrees back to the kitchen(this server was not our server…who knows where she was). The manager came by and assured us that we would be receiving fresh entree’s. We appreciated that. I ordered the crab cake and was shocked by how small it was and wished I had ordered the double but at 34.00 for two it seemed pricey. But it was disappointingly small. Maybe the dinner portion is larger. I won’t order it again. The other entree’s were tasty but the overall vibe was lost by the time our server finally reappeared. We ordered another round of drinks but again by the time we received them we were done eating and ready for the check. A really off day...I don’t know the name of our server but she was different from previous enthusiastic servers that keep bringing us back. We will probably take a break from Clyde’s at Reston..
Bar was over-crowded and understaffed! It took 20 minutes to get a drink. Food was EXCELLENT and service was also. Noise level when we were first seating was extremely loud. Our server, Chris, was nice enough to move us away from the large group where the noise level was much better. Chris was an excellent server! Overall, we enjoyed the experience and will return.
Best soft shell crabs in the area. Nice ambiance. Good service.
We were there for our 1st anniversary. Our server, Kelly took extra effort to make us feel special. She is very friendly and provided excellent customer service! Thank you!
Clydes in Reston has wonderful gazpacho & pasta Bolognese.
I’ve been here plenty of times and always enjoyed the food. The service is top notch as expected for Reston Town Center and usually get you seated pretty quickly with reservations. Where this place shines the most imo is the bar area. Good mix of drinks, bartenders and easy food access it’s a great place to chill at when meeting up or just wanting a drink.
Service was absolutely terrible. The server would leave us for period at a time. Took me three tries to get her attention to order me a second drink (after waiting for 20 minutes with no drink). Then had to catch her again to request a dessert menu. Outside of the non-existent service, the food was good.
Nice restaurant for a Mother’s Day dinner. Food was great and service was great. Was a bit pricey, but not bad for an occasional dinner.
Advice for full-figure folks: The table sizes vary significantly. Ensure that you are comfortably seated. The food was very good. I was surprised that they do not offer baked potatoes when I ordered a ribeye steak. Smashed potatoes are available upon request, as they are not on the menu either. My strawberry shortcake was so-so. The biscuit was very, very hard. This was Mother’s Day so perhaps the kitchen was overwhelmed. Clyde’s is still a favorite!
Clyde’s is great! A neighborhood go to place.
Just poor service this time. We are a frequent guest and this time, service was off and unfortunately was mother’s day and mom didn’t get to experience it like we know it can be
Great Mother’s Day brunch experience. Very busy but service and food was wonderful, as always. See you soon!!
Not one of my better experiences at Clydes. Service was slow. Waitress was fairly inattentive. Never came by to check on drink refills and brought the pre-meal bread with the meal. The other Clydes locations are much better all around. The Rest on location? Meh
