Always a nice time at Clyde's. We love the brunch but you need to make reservations. Everything on the menu is excellent and the service is top notch. The bar is also a good place to eat and watch the game.

Always a classic! Even 45 years later, we loved brunch, especially eggs benedict. And the service was perfect, Jeff.

Set up a reservation for Friday night since I had an errand in Georgetown and had not been to Clyde's in quite some time. We arrived a bit early and had a drink at the bar while waiting. Even though the bar was crowded , the bartender was on task and took our order as soon as we were seated. Our table was ready right on time and we were seated in the very busy and crowded dining room. Despite tables being close together and high noise level ,we had privacy in our conversation and didn't have to speak loud to communicate. It's definitely a pub atmosphere, so not the spot for an intimate dinner; but fun and lively, for sure. We ordered a caesar and an autumn market salad. Each was big enough to share but the prices were very reasonable. Really fresh ingredients and well assembled! The autumn market salad was studded with candied nuts, meyer lemon slivers and apple. It was outstanding and the type of dish I would love to replicate at home. Entrees were delicious as well. A generously cut filet mignon with a fluffy tuft of herbed butter melting on top was cooked as ordered and served hot. Same for the steak frites. Steak frites was so much better than versions served elsewhere. The steak was cooked just right and so flavorful. Truffle oil fries were a hit as well, hot crisp and perfectly seasoned. We ordered a burger to take home for one of our kids who could not join us and it got rave reviews even after making the trip home. Our server timed our carry out order perfectly to coincide with the end of our meal. Best of all, the prices at Clyde's are very reasonable. We are looking forward to going back for their whole cooked lobsters which were flying out of the kitchen all evening and looked fantastic.

Our server was very nice and professional, but unfortunately i cannot say the same regarding the two hosts, who helped him out. One host awkwardly started removing my setting after i sat down (the tables was set for 4 but there were 3 of us)...he responded that it was "restaurant policy" to remove any unused settings, and that the one at my seat was "easier" for him to remove. Really??

Later, when the other host dropped off my beer without a glass, his response to my request for a glass was "this is how we serve this brand of beer, just in the can. But if you really need a glass i can send over your server. Again i ask: "REALLY??"

The three of us ordered burgers, two of which were overcooked to the point of being dry and gray, despite being ordered medium and medium rare. It is a shame because the third member of our party said his was excellent: high quality meat and juicy. The wings, however were very good.

Again, our waiter was very good, but the hosts were completely clueless and seemed like they had never before spent time in a restaurant, let alone worked in one. And i was surprised at the two overcooked burgers.

Clyde's really satisfied me yet again. I love the local spot with the great dish on the menu that the locals crave. Clyde's is a chain, albeit local, and they continue to turn out great food. I enjoyed the crab cakes, which I rarely order at a larger restaurant. They are always overhyped and usually have far more cake than crab. The crab cakes at Clyde's, though, were spectacularly well done. I always can count on Clyde's.

Lots of electricity in this place. Also great food and very reasonable, burgers to very fine entrees. Ambiance is fun. Always busy so reservations are advised. Smack in the middle of Georgetown, too.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary last Friday at Clyde's. We took our two teenagers and had a great time. You need a reservation on Fri/Sat, and we had one for 445pm. By 515pm, Clyde's was packed---standing room only in the bar areas. The menu, food, and drinks were fantastic, and the price was right. We were able to take advantage of happy hour pricing on the drinks, which is almost 50% off select drinks and cocktails. Parking is available in a garage about a block away--if you've never been to G-town, don't even try street parking, especially on Fri/Sat. Only caveat I'd say is that the waitstaff turned over while we were there. The second person was not at the same level as the first person. We went from not waiting at all to waiting a lot---being crowded, especially for a place that's always crowded, isn't a good reason for that. It's training and oversight. That said, it doesn't change the fact that we had a great time, ate really well (great menu!!) and enjoyed the evening. Definitely recommended---with a reservation.

I had a few friends visiting from out-of-town, and wanted to show them authentic Georgetown. Clyde's was recommended to me by a friend, and it didn't disappoint! The lobster shepherd's pie was wonderful, and I was impressed by the attentiveness of the staff, even in the middle of lunch rush. Would definitely come back again.

When we arrived we were seated immediately. Thanks to Open Table and the reservation. The restaurant was crowed. I had originally requested a table for 6 but ended up with 4. Our first seating arrangement was horrible. We were practically sat in a doorway where servers were coming through and people were sitting around waiting for tables. I requested that we get moved and the manager accommodated us. Which was awesome. Our server Ben was great and attentive and lively. We enjoyed him immensely. Our food arrived hot and timely. No complaints from our table on the food or server. I would return to this Clyde's again. My friends and I really enjoyed the evening.

My husband and I ordered crab cakes with fingerling potatoes and Brussel sprouts. Crab cake had a lot of filler. Both the Brussel sprouts and the fingerling potatoes were sliced very thin. I'm guessing we both had a total of two tiny potatoes and two Brussel sprouts each! Thank goodness we shared the hot crab dip with friends. I would have been hungry when we left the restaurant. Although the server offered additional bread, he forgot. Probably wouldn't return to this location.

Felt incredibly corporate, from the recycled menu to the pedestrian offerings to the meager sizes to the marginal presentation. The place itself was quaint and cozy, which yes, is code for crowded. Service was okay, but rushed and a little hit or miss, as though you were in a busy diner for lunch. Food was pretty thoroughly forgettable, all the way around. How do you mess up lobster shepherd's pie? (hint: cook the lobster into nearly un-cut-able toughness, and serve the whole dish lukewarm) I imagine there are lots of nice places in Georgetown with really top notch food. I don't think anyone would mistake this for one of them.

We visited Clyde's on a Saturday this fall for lunch. We were excited to dine here, but our expectations were too high. Although we arrived early for our reservations, we still waited an hour to be seated for a table for two. I had a burger (bacon, swiss, mushrooms) which was fine, but really nothing I would come back for. The mushrooms were not seasoned in any way, making them very bland and an unnecessary addition. My husband had the reuben, it was quite good. The fries were very good.

We stopped in for early dinner (5:30pm) and were not disappointed. Two of us had the lobster shepherds pie and it was quite flavorful-- leeks, carrots and chunks of lobster. Definitely a winner, although we both thought it could've been hotter. The crab cake entree was a hit, and the Brussels sprouts and fingerling potato bed was a yummy surprise. The steamed lobster was delicious and you can't beat the special price for the lobster dinner. The only disappointment was the bread-- they ran out and brought us cold bread that had obviously been sitting out. When we requested more bread, we were happy to receive the usual warm, crusty version. The host/hostess were attentive and our waitress was fine. She seemed a bit overwhelmed so not attentive, but at least very friendly. We enjoyed dinner and would recommend it to others.

I was a little thrown off because we had a reservation for 2 ppl and a party of 5 with a walk in was seated before us . Then I told the waiter 4 times that was my boyfriends birthday and nothing was done but another table got a birthday surprise. .. totally forgotten. .. which is unacceptable. The food was great but the other 2 incidents just tipped the scale

We used to love Clyde's. We have been going there for decades, and always enjoyed it. This last time was regrettable. It was a busy evening, but our waiter was downright unpleasant and offensive. The manager was not much better. I hesitate to write this review, because it's possible it was an off night. But we have never had such an ugly evening in a restaurant and there is no excuse for it. They cannot help how loud it gets in there, we understand that part, and the repeated sound of glasses breaking in the bar area is also understandable. More difficult were the water glasses with something brown in them (they replaced them with clean ones) and then a wine glass came with some kind of yellow thing (corn?fruit?) stuck to the side of it. That was also replaced. They seem to need to kind of regroup and re-train there. There was too much to overlook, and the worst of it was the offensive and actually disrespectful treatment by both waiter and manager. It's unfortunate, because apart from everything else, the food was very good.

French onion soup and Caesar salad were very good, whole steamed lobster was a deal (Sep & Oct only), sirloin steak w/blue cheese smashed potatoes was excellent though the roasted Brussels sprouts were bland. Lump crab cakes were highly recommended, however were not as fresh as they should've been (fishy). Service was average -- seated w/a reservation quickly, waitress was enthusiastic w/her recommendations, but we had to wait more than a few minutes for bib and lobster cracker and steak knife to be brought after the food had already been served. Likewise, waitress seemed to disappear after serving the food and didn't check on us at all until we flagged her down for the check. Overall a good dining experience w/some flaws.
