Clyde's of Georgetown Ratings and Reviews
The greeters were friendly and helpful. We got seated right on time. I was impressed that someone came and found us when our table was ready rather that making an announcement. The food was very good. The restaurant was not particularly quiet, but neither was it overly noisy. The atmosphere was warm and friendly. The service was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant and plan on returning.
Very noisy and tables on top of each other. Felt like they were trying to pack in as many people as possible . Our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. Felt like the food was thrown at you. Also my pasta was under cooked and the sauce was extremely watery. Very disappointed. Not sure I would return
We come to DC two or three times a year. Clyde's of Georgetown is on our "must eat" list of restaurants. The food is always great and the atmosphere is unique. Fridays are usually crowded so it's best to have a reservation. We arrived early for our reservation yet they were able to seat us immediately. Our server, Ruby, was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Our group of 4 from out of town went to Clyde’s on a recommendation. The drinks, food, and service were great. We started off with the crab & artichoke dip which was tasty. The lobster pot pie along with the burgers were delicious too. Highly recommended and we’ll be back.
Derek was our server and he was polite and friendly. Over all the food was solid and we will be back. It was the atmosphere and staff that made dining here memorable. We kept it pretty simple with food and drinks and the price point was good. I would recommend coming here with anyone for a quality meal that is reasonably priced. Thank you Derek and the rest of the Clyde’s staff for a good night!
Made a reservation for 6:30 and at 6:50 I went to find out the status. They the wanted to seat us at the table right by the cashier and I said mo. Inpointed out there was a table in another room that was available and they seated me there. Generaly disappointed in the food.
My husband and I visited this location 3 times over the Thanksgiving weekend. Once for dinner and the other 2 times for drinks at the bar. All of the employees are great, love the manager. Felt cozy and comfortable. The decorations for the holidays were lovely.
Great place! Staff were super friendly and the ambience was great if you’re looking for a night out with good people. Filet mignon was perfectly cooked and delicious! My wife ordered the crab cakes which were very good, but a bit lacking in flavor (we asked for more aioli on the side).
We chose Clydes for our first ever Thanksgiving Dinner ( we travelled to Washington from UK) . We were warmly welcomed. The restaurant was buzzing with lots of people there but it had a great atmosphere. Service was timed just right and our server incredibly polite and professional, but still very friendly.
Definitely a good choice for us. Would thoroughly recommend
We were a party of 3 and one meal arrived very salty. The staff handled the situation with aplomb and quickly remedied the situation satisfactorily. Impressive service and customer care. Will be back next visit to Georgetown.
Good restaurant - good food - fine caring people.
Went there for thanksgiving dinner, waiter never asked us for our drink order. Had to finally go to the bar and flag someone. My son ordered lobster and had to flag another wait staff for the proper utensils so he could eat. Very disappointed with the quality of the dinner also for the price. Will not go back there again.
The Clydes in Georgetown was so tight and intimate that it was uncomfortable. My husband and I dined at this restaurant for Thanksgiving, and I'm glad we went early. The food was ok, the service was excellent, but it was so crowded by the end of our experience that I was ready to go. The furniture is run down, and a felt terrible for a larger lady who had to sit in the chair with the round seats because it barely held me comfortably. This restaurant needs to be remodeled. I prefer Old Ebbitt Grill as the food and ambiance are more pleasant and enjoyable.
Set up a reservation for Friday night since I had an errand in Georgetown and had not been to Clyde's in quite some time. We arrived a bit early and had a drink at the bar while waiting. Even though the bar was crowded , the bartender was on task and took our order as soon as we were seated. Our table was ready right on time and we were seated in the very busy and crowded dining room. Despite tables being close together and high noise level ,we had privacy in our conversation and didn't have to speak loud to communicate. It's definitely a pub atmosphere, so not the spot for an intimate dinner; but fun and lively, for sure. We ordered a caesar and an autumn market salad. Each was big enough to share but the prices were very reasonable. Really fresh ingredients and well assembled! The autumn market salad was studded with candied nuts, meyer lemon slivers and apple. It was outstanding and the type of dish I would love to replicate at home. Entrees were delicious as well. A generously cut filet mignon with a fluffy tuft of herbed butter melting on top was cooked as ordered and served hot. Same for the steak frites. Steak frites was so much better than versions served elsewhere. The steak was cooked just right and so flavorful. Truffle oil fries were a hit as well, hot crisp and perfectly seasoned. We ordered a burger to take home for one of our kids who could not join us and it got rave reviews even after making the trip home. Our server timed our carry out order perfectly to coincide with the end of our meal. Best of all, the prices at Clyde's are very reasonable. We are looking forward to going back for their whole cooked lobsters which were flying out of the kitchen all evening and looked fantastic.
Our server was very nice and professional, but unfortunately i cannot say the same regarding the two hosts, who helped him out. One host awkwardly started removing my setting after i sat down (the tables was set for 4 but there were 3 of us)...he responded that it was "restaurant policy" to remove any unused settings, and that the one at my seat was "easier" for him to remove. Really??
Later, when the other host dropped off my beer without a glass, his response to my request for a glass was "this is how we serve this brand of beer, just in the can. But if you really need a glass i can send over your server. Again i ask: "REALLY??"
The three of us ordered burgers, two of which were overcooked to the point of being dry and gray, despite being ordered medium and medium rare. It is a shame because the third member of our party said his was excellent: high quality meat and juicy. The wings, however were very good.
Again, our waiter was very good, but the hosts were completely clueless and seemed like they had never before spent time in a restaurant, let alone worked in one. And i was surprised at the two overcooked burgers.
Clyde's really satisfied me yet again. I love the local spot with the great dish on the menu that the locals crave. Clyde's is a chain, albeit local, and they continue to turn out great food. I enjoyed the crab cakes, which I rarely order at a larger restaurant. They are always overhyped and usually have far more cake than crab. The crab cakes at Clyde's, though, were spectacularly well done. I always can count on Clyde's.
