Clyde's of Georgetown Ratings and Reviews
We were seated quickly at a booth as we had requested. The waitstaff was exceptional: a young woman student at American University who knew the menu top to bottom with wise comments on each selection. Food was imaginative and and up to a high standard. The restaurant is definitively up for return visits.
Another great Clyde's location! We had fantastic food, a wonderful and attentive waiter, fast service, and everything came out perfectly. We had a member in our group with gluten and lactose allergies, and he had his pick of dishes! Many thanks to the establishment for being so easy going when things get picky. Great time despite being a busy Friday night and a packed house!
The service was totally amateur: one of the main courses was not prepared as ordered (steak was overcooked instead of medium rare); the server forgot to serve the drink to one of the guests. After the meal, we ordered 2 espressos and a regular coffee that didn't arrive after 20 minutes. Upon our complaint, we were told that the espresso machine was broken. After another 10 minutes, regular coffee arrived (free of charge). We had to wait another 15 minutes for the check. The level of noise was unbearable, with people screaming at top voice at the bar. Clyde's used to be a reasonable choice for a get together, but the Georgetown location is clearly decadent, especially the service.
Overall as always a good experience! The server was patient and polite. The food was great as always and the atmosphere was great for New Year’s Day. I wish i caught the servers name so I could mention her here. I know I will be back soon. Clyde’s is a staple of the neighborhood and for good reason!!!
This is one of our "go to" restaurants when my wife and I are visiting Washington DC. It happened to be New Year's Eve this past visit and the service, food was fantastic. The only downside is the tables are just a little to close to one another (we live in NYC and are used to that in some establishments). But overall, we will continue to eat there on our trips to DC. Thank you.
We had a great brunch at Clyde's on New Year's Eve. Really good food, and the service was fast and friendly. Our only complaint (and I'm sure this was just an unusual, once-in-a-blue-moon type of thing) was that on the day and at the time we were there, there was a family letting their child run in circles throughout the dining area. You can't fault the restaurant for this, but...perhaps management could have gently taken someone to the side and pointed out that this child might be disturbing other customers? Other than that, a nice experience with good food and a very attentive staff.
Certainly not FINE DINING, but food is comfortable, reasonable, and tasty. The crabcakes had more filler than we like. It does get t bit loud, especially if you're seated near the entryway bar, but the hosts were amenable to moving us to another table in the room as far from the noise as possible. Much appreciated. We particularly liked our server who was very personable and professional; he was attentive without being intrusive.
Too crowded and just average food. It's in a great location but I don't like being in restaurants that are so crowded you can barely move and your table for 2 is not even a foot away from the next table of 2. You hear their entire conversation, whether you want to or not.
We had brunch here before a show at the Kennedy Center. We were seated in the patio room; we sat by the fireplace and admired all the Christmas decor (love the huge nutcrackers at the entrance on M Street). Our waiter was good and attentive; we enjoyed our meal and then made it to our show on time!
We arrived for brunch on Christmas Eve only to find out that I had mistakenly reserved a table for 12:45 AM and not 12:45 PM. I was devastated... but we were quickly assured that they'd find a table for us. We were seated at a lovely table in the back, and were incredibly well taken care of. Thank you, Clyde's for helping to make our Christmas together a remarkable one!
Overall a very pleasant lunch! The restaurant was crowded on 24 Dec but we were seated quickly and had a nice booth. The waiter was very attentive and helpful, waiting patiently for the third member of our party and giving us some wonderful , complimentary coffee cake during the wait. We enjoyed our salads and octopus appetizer! Will return!
We eat at this Clyde's often because we live in Georgetown. Service is usually great, but not this time. I think our waitress was the problem because it took her about 10 minutes to approach the table and 35 minutes before we got our drinks. When, the food came out there was timing issues so the communication between our server and the food delivery guy was poor. I hope this is a fluke because the service was so bad. They comped 2 glasses of wine, but they should have comped our dinner. I hope it's better next time.
I’ve gone to Clydes in Reston and thought the food and overall experience was terrific. Not so with our experience at the Georgetown location. Very disappointed after looking forward to my daughter’s 19th birthday celebration at Clydes. The food was meh for the price. The service started off good and became indifferent. The birthday girl got a nice dessert with no fanfare. The rest of us were not even offered dessert or coffee. Very strange. Nicely decorated for the holidays, but the ambiance didn’t save the meal.
