Clyde's of Georgetown
Glad we came in. Great service and pretty quiet on a Weds afternoon.
We loved this quaint restaurant. The waiter was an asset and the food was DELICIOUS! The ambiance captures the history of this town! Wonderful experience!
Lively place. Great service. Good variety of food. Everything tasted wonderful.
Went there this past weekend for a late night snack and drinks. The service was terrible. I saw our drinks sitting at the bar for awhile. The waitress came to our table and apologized for the wait on the drinks. I told there I thought those were it sitting on the bar, and she laughed and said she had been waiting at the other bar. That type of service continued all evening. The prices were reasonable and the food was decent.
We love Clydes and had a great experience over dinner ... until the end. The waiter said he would validate our parking to be 1/2 off. When we left the parking garage it was $22 - we put in the discount ticket which only reduced it to $17.50. That’s not half off!!! So I put in my credit card which promptly got stuck - we had to get help to unjam the machine and when the guy reran my card, I ended up paying the entire $22. Guess that’s the life in Georgetown - but at that rate I don’t know if we will go back any time soon.
Alex was wonderful and the food was fantastic!
Great food and service. I try to visit when in DC!
Upon walking into Clyde's there was a very strong smell. It was extremely unpleasant and as we were seated, reached the entire restaurant. Almost like old fish, or garbage.
Our waitress was fantastic. Extremely accommodating.
Crab Stack was very good but had some electric green pieces of crab in the salad. Not sure if it was food dye from the salad, however made it look somewhat unappetizing.
Crabcakes are super small and average tasting. Calamari was good!
Our server was a lovely young woman who convinced us all, while we were avoiding carbs, to try the gratis Sunday brunch coffee cake. She was right. The chef made a special accommodation for me. I go to Clyde's regularly in Georgetown. It's a staple that still stands while other restaurants around are dropping like flies.
If there is a more perfect eggs bennie w/crabcakes, i have yet to see it. Amazing!
Some times I got disapointed with restaurants that accepts late reservations but don't seem to be really open to serve the costumer. That was not definetely the case. Even though I was late (reservation for 11:30 pm and I arrived at 11:55 pm), they were very kind. The menu contained just a few options, but it is understandable considering the time. The pasta was really good !
Went as a college nostalgia trip. The menu has definitely changed (improved!) since then; the volume is still quite high. Fun for a walk down Georgetown memory lane.
I have eaten at several Clyde's locations. My friend wanted to try Maryland crab cakes. We were already downtown and since Clyde's has some of the finest crab cakes in the area, I said that's where we'll go. My friend thought his first crab cakes were delicious. He asked what he could have instead of French Fries and opted for the Brussel Sprouts which he said were also delicious. He also wanted bourbon and the waitress was familiar with Clyde's options. They had Angel's Envy which was what he wanted. We also had some bourbon questions and the waitress got us answers. Our Mussels appetizer was also very tasty. The mussels were very meaty and the broth was very tasty. We were also impressed that the discounted parking price was only $5.00 when the regular parking price was $22.00. We didn't expect that big a discount but appreciated it. Overall, Clyde's came through with a delicious meal.
We both had the haddock which is the market catch - so delicious. Great service and fun atmosphere. Comfortable seating in a booth.
We visited for a lunch. Great lobster chowder. Beautiful old restaurant eighth in the heart of Georgetown.
Awesome place for a splendid business dinner.
We were there for a high school reunion.. a group of 6 girlfriends who used to hang out at Clydes as 18 year olds! Everything was perfect and delicious! So wonderful to know that the service atmosphere and food are as good as they were 45 years ago!!
My boyfriend and I love Clyde’s! The food is great and the atmosphere as well!!! Everytime we are in the area, we visit Clyde’s!
Definitely coming back! Great food, ambiance and attentive waiters.
Waiter was patient whilst we caught up with my work colleague.
We had a great dinner. Love Clyde’s food and friendly service.
Flounder was excellent! Really liked the service too!
Make sure you have a reservation as the restaurant is very popular. The food was well prepared. The service was well appointed. The Prosecco choice was delicious. The atmosphere was quite comfortable. We look forward to dining there again!
Service was very slow had to ask waitress several times
For another drink. Crab cake was no better than the frozen Phillips ones.
Our first and probably last time very disappointing.
Ehh... nothing special. The service was extremely slow, inattentive and the food was just ordinary. We waited almost 20 minutes for anyone to come to the table and offer water. The server never checked back after we got our food. We had to ask for the check so we could leave. Will not return.
We always get good food and good service at Clyde's
The food was great and the ambiance was charged.
Food was ordinary but ok. Good burger, not heavy. Waffle arrived very cold and not their strength. Rude waiter, awkward service.
Food & service was EXCELLENT ❗️ highly recommended this place! My girlfriend and myself had an amazing time!
Outstanding Crab Cream Soup. Crab cakes have more filler than expected but tasty.
Wonderful as usual!
Quality service good food and overall great experience will be coming back for my next special occasion
Amazing food and service and great atmosphere.
Great place that is located in the heart of Georgetown. Very good food and service.
Glad I booked as it was busy with a great vibe. Food was nice - and healthy! On business from UK and I find US food a little heavy on the carbs sometime. This was a nice break with salad followed by fish with veg. I’d definitely go again.
Very busy and tightly packed but excellent food and wonderful
service. Will be back!
We had an incredible first time at Clyde’s. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious.
The food was good, but not great. Okay for a quick lunch, but not if one wants particularly flavorful food. The service was excellent, however.
Overall the experience was average. The servers were pretty good. The hostess let a party seat themselves, which would have been ok if their weren’t other party’s already there waiting. No apologies were given it was kind of ignored that the party just sat themselves.
The experience would have been a little above average if it weren’t for the restaurant allowing a woman and her dog to stay/eat in the restaurant. The patron walked through the entire (small and crowded) restaurant holding her dog. She proceeded to have a drink or two at the bar and ordered food to go. The restaurant (including the bar) was completely packed with about a 20 - 25 minute wait. The dog was not in a carrier or on a leash, she was just holding it in her lap as she sat at the bar.
This obviously raises concerns about cleanliness and allergies. It is also concerning that none of the staff seemed to think it was inappropriate to have a dog sitting at the bar with food and drinks readily passing by/through the area. Not to mention that even if you couldn’t or didn’t see the dog, you could definitely smell it.
If you're heading to Clyde's of Georgetown be sure to have your reservation handy. It's a bustling spot with classic wood decor. Myself and a friend sat in a booth by the end of the bar and had James as our server. Great service that was not overwhelming. It was a busy Friday night, so James let us know that our drinks would take a bit longer than expected (which they did), but the heads up was much appreciated. Nothing was rushed and they didn't push us out the door after we signed the receipt.
Thanks for a lovely evening, James!
