Clyde's of Gallery Place Ratings and Reviews
I had unknowingly made a reservation for my brother who lives in TN and me for 7 pm on the night of a Janet Jackson concert. The place was packed and we had to wait 20 minuted for our table, but we got exactly what we wanted: a quiet table so we good catch up. The service was excellent and I loved my bratwurst. Given the crowds coming for dinner before the concert, I can't imagine how the staff could have done any better. I have never been disappointed at Clyde's.
The service was he worst ever. It was son's 12th birthday and it was the worst experience I have had with Clyde's. We arrived at 6:05 and did not get to order food until after 7:10pm. Several tables were seated after our party and received food and cordial services in between appetizers and their meal. We were able to order appetizer but they came out almost 40 minutes after the order and were cold. The server was rude and used a lot of blaming for why the service was poor as opposed to taking responsibility for "dropping the ball". I have been a consumer of Clyde's for years. This experience was very disappointing and the absolute worst. My son only turns 12 once...thanks alot.
We had 5:45 reservation and were seated at 6:20. it then took another 10 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order. we ordered our whole meal. it arrived in this order: 15 minutes salad; 10 minutes later before dinner drink; 15 minutes later dinner; 10 minutes later dinner drink (soda). Clyde's D.C. location has been getting worse over the last two years and is now only worth while because it is next to the basketball game. they are packed because of the arena and clearly just don't care anymore.
We arrived early for our reservation. I let the host know we would appreciate getting seated early but would get drinks and wait. Close to our reservation time he came over and asked me to check in and said they had plenty of seats. I am unsure why we weren’t seated 35 minutes prior. Our waitress was slow. I am pregnant and cannot drink. We were never offered a water refill until we finally flagged her down. We only got sandwiches (which we very good) but took a very long time to prepare. We missed the first half of the game we were going to after dinner due to very slow service. Overall, we will likely not return.
All about location, location, location...best place in DC to gather before any game or event at the Arena. Wait staff is great and the menu is tailored to provide great fare in short time frame to allow dining, socializing and getting to the events on time. Disappointed in the DC Fried Chicken...
Just stopped for quick bite to eat for Wizards game. Ordered medium well bacon cheeseburger w/ fries with the works. Everything was absolutely tasty cooked the way a burger should be. Our server very professional and friendly. Plan to return and would recommend to friends and family.
I went to Clyde's twice during the 3 days I spent in Washington DC with my kids ages 14 and 11 - something on the menu to please everyone. The food was very good - I had the Lump Crab Cake on the first evening and a Burger on the second occasion each time with a glass of Clyde's house cabernet wine. My son had sliders from the kids menu and my daughter had a burger on both occasions. The place is big but cozy, the staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is good. Don't let the down stairs sports bar deter you from going into the restaurant which is upstairs. Cozy wooded interior is perfect for Winter evenings.
Great service. Can't beat the lobster special. Convenient location as we were going to the hockey game that night. Noise level a little high but you could still hold a conversation without yelling. Had some trouble using the Open Tables gift receipt ($25 for 5,000 points) as Clyde's credit card security does not allow manual entry of credit card info as provided on the Open Tables receipt I had. However, the manager still took $25 off of the bill.
Had to wait half hour for First course and bread. Did not seem to be aware that there are some wines at $15 on Monday nights. However, bill was brought promptly as we were going to a Hockey game. Quiet table on second floor but apparently food is served slower on second floor!?!
It was a wonderful dinner from start to finish. The wine was wonderful, the vegetable soup had just the right spice and the lobster dinner was amazing. My husband was very pleased with the oysters. Even the bread was fantastic. First time in a while that I ate everything on my plate. My Mother would have been proud. The server was attentive without being annoying. A pleasant experience. I can't wait to go back.
My friend and I took our daughters to Clyde's for dinner before seeing a concert at the Verizon Center. We had issues with traffic and I called in to see if they could hold our reservation. The hostess was wonderful and moved our time out a little and said that we may be able to get seated earlier if we arrived sooner. We arrived and were seated immediately. The calamari was delicious as was the artichoke and crab dip. We enjoyed our entrees (burgers, pumpkin ravioli, and the fried chicken) and were actually a little sad that we were too full for dessert. Our waiter knew that we were headed to the show and showed us the back way to get into the venue so we didn't have to go back outside and fight the crowds on the sidewalk.
Anytime we have an event at the Verizon Center and we have time for dinner, I'll be suggesting Clyde's. Everything was so smooth and easy. It definitely took the stress out of having to get downtown. Definitely recommended!
