My experiences at Clyde's Gallery Place are usually much better than this. The soup was described incorrectly (chicken with rice when it turned out to be chicken with potatoes), my guest's cheeseburger was not cooked correctly (she asked for VERY well done and it was pink), and my second glass of wine arrived 20 minutes after I ordered it. My salad was fine, but...
It was my birthday and we were treated like princesses! The food was good, the waiter was nice and we enjoyed the birthday dessert that was on the house. I love Clydes!
Our server was the absolute best. She was attentive without being overbearing and very accommodating and friendly. The next group business meal I organize I will definitely be back and will ask for her section. Shanie Yates knows the restaurant business and excels at providing excellent customer service. My husband and I attempted to dine at this location today. Unfortunately, we had a reservation at 11:30am, but never did get to experience anything but a cup of ice water. We ordered our food by 1140am and after waiting 40 mins for our food we ultimately decided to get up and walk out. We stopped at the hostess station to ask for a manger. A manager did appear and apologized for our experience and said sorry. Ultimately nothing else was offered to us, for our unpleasant experience at this restaurant. He seemed to agree with everything we were saying. The strange part of this all, was all the tables around us were served, ate and got up to put their coats on and leave. We are unsure about what the disconnect was, but what a miserable dining experience at Clyde’s. We were never reassured even once that our food was en route to us or checked on. My husband frequents this location and the entire experience was unbelievable. Too bad!
We had a pretty terrible experience today with the service. A restaurant located next to the arena should be able to accommodate folks who want to get a quick bite before a show. Today they opened at 11am - we ordered by 11:05 and it took an hour to get our food. At least 7 to 10 other tables around us had to get up and leave before getting serviced. When there are daytime events at the arena, recommend getting the kitchen set up a little earlier. Such a disappointing experience.
Over prices food. Not particularly great based upon price. Service was slow.
Food was delicious. Reservation process was easy and timely. They seated us straight away.
The Clyde's at Gallery Place is gigantic - as it should be to handle all of the people. Unfortunately, the staff seemed ill prepared to handle such crowds. The wait for basic things like water, bread, or our check were extremely long - even for a crowded restaurant on a Sunday night. Then, they delivered the wrong check and we then had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes for the correct one.
Both upstairs and downstairs bathrooms were dirty; some stalls did not have working overhead lights; most stalls lacked toilet paper.
Lots of places have good food, so not sure when we will return to this Clyde's location.
Overall it was a pleasant experience. I really enjoyed the food and the overall aesthetic of the restaurant. The only minor criticism I had was that I would've liked the waitress to have come check in a little more often as we had to wave her down once or twice, but it was a particularly busy day. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will hopefully be back.
In DC for the weekend and liked Clyde’s bar scene. The food is. good and being from New York City, we know good food. Lol. But really the service was ok and the bar was my favorite part of Clyde’s.
Overall, the experience was great; however, our water glasses were always empty, our server was never to be found, and when an item (e.g., a dessert menu) was asked for, it took an exceptionally long time to get it. We finally grabbed a nearby water picture and kept it at our table. Maybe you were short staffed?
Very good service an food. Good atmosphere and reasonably priced. Crab cake were good, but could have had less filler. Daughter loved her butternut squash ravioli and my husband's French Dip was perfect.
Our server was very average. The staff who delivered the food really have their act together and we’re quite frankly more professional than our server. The music was awesome the atmosphere was great the food was of great value compared to other DC restaurants.
We were a table of four, ordering drinks, appetizers, and dinner. Our drinks and appetizers came right away and were delicious. We then had to wait 45-60 minutes until our dinners arrived. We were told that they had just switched software and that it was causing long delays in food arriving. Thankfully, we were not in a rush, but the delay was ridiculous. The food was very good once it arrived.
My wife and I were celebrating the anniversary of our first date (which was actually at Clyde's) and also the anniversary date of our engagement (on the same date, February 15th). These are both very special occasions for us, so we thought we'd return to where and when it all started and we were very happy with everything! We'll be certain to return again soon! The easy metro access this time made it easy for us to avoid traffic and just enjoy our evening together... Our thanks Clyde's and their staff for making our anniversary so special...
Tables and room dividers are situated so that the noise level was pretty low. Nice experience.
Great veal chop but wouldnt recommend the salmon. Service was very good but the greeter was less than enthusiastic.
I was very pleased with the service and the food. The noise level was a little disturbing when seated but it got better as the evening went on. Our waiter, Allen, was excellent. He was helpful, patient, and pleasantly answered our questions.
They lost our reservation. They lost our appetizer and our dinner orders so the dinner took nearly 3 hours. The waiter and manager were very apologetic and only charged us for wine and dessert.
Crab cakes were over cooked...
Restaurant atmosphere and food were excellent. Service was slow, appetizers never arrived before main course, and Open Table questioned why we missed our reservation, which was not the case. It was Valentines Day and the restaurant was crowded, but even with that taken into account, the service could have been much better.
