I have enjoyed every prior meal at all of the Clyde's, including Gallery Place. They were very helpful in arranging the special seating requested for me and my friend, who is on a scooter. My complaint is with the greasiness of the sauce of the pumpkin ravioli, which made it impossible to enjoy. Shortly after arriving, the sauce separated and the plate looked like a half cup (at least) of melted sage butter had been poured over the ravioli. I adore pumpkin ravioli, and it is a rare treat, so I ate it and left the sauce, but had I been warned I would not have ordered it. My friend's crab cake was, as always perfect, but her Caesar salad had way too much dressing on it - it was dripping. My Fried Goat Cheese Salad was perfect.
Good food and service in a very nice setting.
Excellent variety of foods, well-prepared, and reasonable cost. The decor is excellent with warm wood panels, high quality art work, and beautiful accent pieces spread throughout the restaurant.
There is a good variety of food offerings which makes it a good place when you aren't sure what kinds of food people prefer.
Had a wonderful dining experience. The girlfriend said it was one of the best meals she has ever had. That made me very happy.
The food was very good, if a bit slow coming out of the kitchen. It was a busy night and we were with friends, so this wasn't an issue. The Wygun Potroast was the hit of the table with two of the three ordering that. The other gal had the whole lobster, which was very good and had a lovely presentation.
The service was very slow, with no offers for another cocktail as we watied patiently for our food to arrive. Once the food came it was very good, so we didn't really notice that our waiter only came by once. We did order dessert, creme brulee and cheesecake/brioche bread pudding (both VERY GOOD) and coffee. Just after the coffee was served and before the dessert came out, the waiter dropped the check on the table without a word.
I patronize this restaurant frequently but the service we received Saturday night was not acceptable. Our waitress, after taking our order, never came back to our table. My husband ordered duck which required a sharper carving knife. We tried to get her attention but never did so we finally got someone else to bring us a knife. She never asked how our food was and when we told her we wanted the check because we were attending the theater we wanted 15 minutes for her to bring this to us. We gave her a tip but not a big one and almost didn't leave any at all.
This is the place to go if you are touring DC or going to an event at the Verizon Center. Clyde's food is always excellent and the service is very good. There is something on the menu for everyone and in every price range.
Clyde's of Gallery Place is always one of our favorites; the food, atmosphere, professional staff.
Just an absolute hideous wine list. Food was standard Clyde's fare.
Always reliable. Good food and service. Reasonably priced.
I love clyde's! The food is always good (no matter what I order). The prices are reasonable and the staff is usually friendly and accommodating. There aren't many consistent restaurants, this is good every time!
Worth the money no matter when you go.
Had the Maine lobster for 18.99. What a treat! Done perfectly and a 1 and 1/2 pound beauty. Great place for a drink or a nice meal.
I have eaten here many times and each experience was a positive one. The food was great, the service was excellent and the atmosphere is so different from most other restaurants. I liked it.
Generally Clyde's is my go-to for business lunches. Wasn't impressed this time. Service and food were just OK.
excellent service and food. Great specials at reasonable cost.
Clydes before a caps game is always a wonderful experience. Lots of energy and fans wearing their RED! The lobster special, $18.95, cannot be beat. The lobster was cooked to perfection. Great deal!
Very good food, prepared as ordered and friendly, attentive service.
I took a group of German visitors to Clyde's for an authentic American dining experience. They were very pleased with the food, and especially the quality of service provided by the staff. Clyde's is always a great place to take guests who are visiting the District for the first time.
We've been to Clyde's many times -- this was our first bad experience there. The lettuce wrap appetizer was just a ceramic bowl of oil and mush, the grilled fish was coated in some sort of leafy spice too burnt to even taste, and the steak salad was a bowl of lettuce with token vegetables and a horrible mango dressing. But Clyde's has been a reliably good dinner spot for a long time, so I hope this was an outlier and not a downward trend.
We were on our way down for a 5pm reservation before the Caps game and traffic was horrendous. Called the restaurant and they changed our reservation to 5:30. Called again at about 5:25 and said it would be more like 5:40. They said "no problem". Got there and were seated right away. They could easily have given our reservation away or made us wait. Really appreciate the customer service. Clydes food was great as always
Went for my girlfriends bday and it was nice, very quiet and just lovely. Staff was upbeat and friendly, atmosphere was lovely and quiet.
We were attended to very well and the wait staff was very friendly and enjoyable. Thanks, it made our evening.
Menu changes with the season. Always a plus for me. The roasted duck was quite well done. Our server was pretty good overall but maybe it was a busy night and too many tables for her, she forgot our ice tea for q good while. Clyde's is a good place for groups to celebrate birthdays and such but putting such groups in a section (all of them) of the restaurant would be best. Between the loud talking and the singing and cheering, we got to a point where we couldn't hear ourselves. So time to leave, forgot dessert. Just bring me "to go" boxes.
Well prepared food with very good service
Food was very good -- selected the beef with potato/celery puree and autumn foot vegetables.
Overall, good standard and typical of the Clyde's chain. Decor is well appointed, well prepared food at a fair price.
not good about timely honoring reservations
Fantastic service by waitress. Excellent trout.
Great waiter. We we there at 12 noon on Saturday and it was nice a quiet. The brunch menu is sparse. The meal was fine. Nothing special but not bad. A bit overpriced. $15 for two pancakes and a cup of tea.
I love this place for its romantic vibe. The food is awesome and they always have wine specials for bottles! The services is perfect, and they do not rush you out. The views in the glass enclosure is gorgeous, it feels like you are sitting outside. Another PLUS is that it is conveniently located near the metro, and a movie theater so you can totally eat, watch a movie and even grab a drink before heading home.
Service was very good - everything was served on time with no hassle. Food was also very good; the fried green tomato appetizer that I had was one of the best ever. However, the chicken lettuce wraps fell a little short (literally iceberg lettuce). Clyde's has an excellent location near Gallery Place Metro and is in within walking distance of the Shakespeare where we saw a show. I would definetely dine here again and would consider a group outing.
Both of our meals were problematic. My pot roast had not been cooked long enough and was extremely tough. My husband does not east pork and ordered a fish dish that did not list pork, but ended up having bacon in it. I guess, best to stick to burgers and sandwiches here.
Our waiter Jeremy Ross was FULL of energy the entire time we were there. He gave a great rundown of the menu with his own truthful suggestions. He always had a smile on his face and brought everything to us as soon as possible. Mr Ross definitely played a roll in how enjoyable our dinner was.
My beef brisket sandwich(es) were soggy in the juices of the coleslaw and yet remained tasteless. I complained and was offered something else by the waiter twice and the manager too but "no thanked" them. The wait for the single course order had taken long enough to be served as it was. It was a business lunch meal. Who has the time for a double wait to fix a standard menu item?
We went to Clyde's for dinner to celebrate our daughter's 7th birthday becuase she likes the kids menu there. We have been to Clyde's many times and the service this time was very slow. In particular our waiter seemed disinterested in actually serving us and we had to remind him a couple of times to bring things we had ordered, such as a soda for our daughter.
Good food, prepared exactly as ordered, with friendly service.
Food was excellent, we had the lobster special. But nothing bets a great waiter and that's what we had. Personable, made some recommendations. Food delivered quickly. I finished first and the bus boy cleared my plates. The waiter brought me a dessert menu and I said we'd wait until my wife finished her meal. Instead of rushing right over after she'd taken her last bite, he waited a few minutes before taking our dessert order. Great service, didn't feel rushed to turn over the table.
when reserving the table I was able to add a note that it was my mothers birthday and as soon as we arrived everyone was very niceand treated my mom so well. the staff even the manager would walk by to say happy birthday and make her feel so special. our waiter was so nice and accomedating.
