We were meeting a friend - and wanted a menu that covered a lot of different tastes - and easy for her to find. Clydes fit the bill. Also needed a place to park without a far walk for one of us - parked in the garage under so did not even need to get out in the rain.
Our server was fantastic - he was patient while we waited for the rest of our party - and very helpful. The server was hit with a large party and it took him awhile to bring another beer - and he could not stop apologizing!! He did the same later.
The food was delicious - the Shrimp Fra Diavlo (sp) had 8 huge gulf shrimp that were amazing. Two had crab cakes that were also declared delicious. The fish and chips could have had another piece of fish - but was tasty.
No reason to seat a group of 3 to be surrounded by 3 tables of 5 people which are only designed to seat 4. Noise level ruins the meal.
The steak was not tough but was very difficult to cut. Maybe the restaurant needs new knives. Beer battered onion rings should have an onion flavor too, not just a batter flavor.
Fabulous! Best chili ever!
The food was excellent. The service was overall fine. The noise level was almost intolerable. It will prevent me from choosing Clydes again anytime soon
The restaurant was starting to get busy when we arrived. The host forgot to give my 2 kids crayons (but gave them kids menus). When my daughter asked for bread from our waitress she was told "I'll get to it soon". We used to get a pitcher of water and basket of bread for the table automatically by a bus boy or runner. In fact, I needed to ask for a second glass of water for both my husband and I. Mid way through our dinner the waitress changed her attitude and provided better service.
I had wanted a crab cake sandwich for dinner (like I always get at Clyde's restaurants). It was listed in small print under the crab cake entree and did not mention that it came with french fries and cole slaw. Honestly, the crab cake at Tower Oaks is much better (Crab is in bigger chunks and not stringy).
My husband had to send back his medium rare bacon cheeseburger because it was cooked medium well. When it came back, it had no bacon and was still medium well.
As a family we like to go to the Clyde's restaurants because the food and service is usually the same across the board. Next time we are in downtown DC for a game or event, we will probably look to go somewhere else and just continue to go to Tower Oaks near home.
It was a Saturday and we had a party of seven. The food was just okay, two guests sent their plates back. Service was slow. Our waiter was very nice and comped a dessert and one of the meals. I'd go back, just not with a large group on a Saturday
My son is on a very special diet and they were super attentive and the chef came out and spoke with us. He allowed us to weigh the food and was super patient and understanding of our situation. The manager and server were all phenominal. We were so very thankful that they made our son's dining experience a normal one. GREAT JOB! We will be back.
Aretha was exceptional. Thanks for the wonderful experience.
We love to go to Clyde's with our young boys before a Washington Capitals game. Besides the location being convenient to the arena and the metro stops, the food is delicious. Unfortunately, the metro had us delayed by 20 minutes BUT the great folks at the host stand welcomed us and had a table ready in the bar area....a request I made, this way no one hears the boys if they are LOUD! We will be back and THANK YOU for a great start to a fun evening.
Aretha was the best. No problem returning calamari that was too salty. 2nd batch much better
Good food and good service. They forgot our appetizer but offered to make up for it with free dessert. Some of the portions are small for the price (steak). Sometimes we get bread before meal but this time we did not. Our waitress apologized and was very kind, but it was clear she was in the weeds. Busy night w/ game next door.
Went for an early dinner before a Wizards game. The architecture of this place is fantastic. Waiter was great. Calamari and crab soup are solid. The fried chicken with the Mumbo sauce is quite good. Don't bother with the beef stew - too salty and boring. Good selection of draft beers.
Really great experience at Clyde’s. This was my first time eating here and I made the reservations for 6pm before a wizards game. Good beer list, great wings, sliders can’t be beat. There was an issue with a tap being low and the beer tasting like water and the waitress immediately got my dad a new beer and apologized. They let us stay for almost two hours without rushing us when we explained we were there for the 8pm game. I would def recommend this place again based on food, atmosphere, and waitstaff, but especially if it was pre-game/event at the Verizon center.
Clyde’s never disappoints! Service and food was outstanding! The Gallery Place Clyde’s is walking distance from many venues....Ford’s Theater, National Portrait Gallery, Capitol One Center, etc.
Food tasted great , was not a long wait at all ... our refills were on point everything so divine
From the atmosphere, to the outstanding plating and taste of the food, to the wonderful service, we'll definitely return!
Servers were great, unfortunately the kitchen was backed up and didn't look like they caught up during the time we were there. We'd go back at a less crowded time, suggest you give yourselves lots of time if there is an event at the CapOne Center.....
Overall experience good. Waitress seemed to disappear for long periods, no drink refills and over 20 minutes to get the check.
Love the indoor parking, great customer service and good food!
Everything was delicious, and the server was excellent in every respect.
I dined at Clyde’s with some colleagues from outside the US before a Caps game. Clyde’s is a great location if your going to an event at the Capital One Arena. The food was good and there is a good pre game atmosphere at Clydes’s. The only issue we had was the service was so fast we felt like we were being rushed out. We had appetizers and most of us had salads. The salads came out shortly after the appetizers and we barely touched our salads when the entrees. Arrived. This was very annoying, especially for my cooleagues from outside the US. We were out of Clyde’s in less then an hour having had a drink, appetizers, salad and entree. Unfortunately we did not have room for a desert as we ended up leaving Clyde’s before the doors opened for the Caps game.
Perhaps Clyde’s was trying to turn tables pre game, if so this definately was not appreciated. My wife and I have dined at the Clyde’s before having a much better experience.
I had a stuffed squash with quinoa dish that was quite tasty but the portion size was on the small side. My friend had spaghetti and meatballs, portion size was larger and she said it was very tasty.
Have a great business lunch and my experience was wonderful.
Wonderful service, food was delicious. Only complaint was a large (and therefore loud) party was seated next to my friend and I who were trying to have a "catch up" conversation after not seeing each other for several months. Fortunately, that was near the end of our meal, so we had a mostly quiet time where we could hear each other.
As always Clyde's does not disappoint.
My favorite place to entertain foreign visitors.
My friend and I ate here after attending the auto show at the convention center. I always have a nice time. Today, the server was very polite and friendly and came by every five or ten minutes to make sure everything was okay. I ordered the crab soup and the beet salad with salmon which was just delicious. My friend ordered pork and he liked that. We will be back again soon. Thank you!
We went during their Sunday Seafood brunch hours between 3-6pm - the raw bar, crab claws, and shrimp were 1/2 off. Great quality and at 50% off - a decent value for the high quality.
The service was pretty good but I found the food was average (maybe because I only ordered a couple things off the menu). My date’s burger looked pretty good though.
Our food was delicious. The server was young, unprofessional and took away from the whole experience but other than that, it was great. The brussel sprouts were yummy, the steak was cooked perfectly and we loved that you get a glass of wine included during restaurant week.
Always a great menu to choose from. Also, some very delicious dessert options. Food was prepared perfectly and service was excellent.
Food was excellent, service was very good, and the atmosphere was very nice. Enjoyed our lunch very much, will come back again.
The blackened fish sandwich was really tasty and the French dip was also good. The fries were cooked and seasoned well but the side Caesar salad didn't have a lot of flavor. The restaurant was noisy and the carpet could use a good vacuuming. Service was decent.
Many order taking errors
Clyde's of Gallery Place is a go-to place when we are going to Caps games. It has consistently good food and service. For this particular business meal we wanted an opportunity to talk and found the server, while very nice, a bit over intrusive. We felt needlessly rushed. We made clear we were not in a hurry and wanted to talk. The restaurant was not busy but still, after bringing our drinks, the waitress repeatedly came to the table to ask if we were ready to order. Once we ordered the main course came while we were still eating the appetizers.
Restaurant week. I had the pork belly for appetizer, salmon for main and cheesecake for dessert. Everything was excellent. Excellent service and experience. Thank you.
Everyone enjoyed the lunch. The restaurant week choices were good and the food delicious. Our large group received outstanding service and the manager called ahead to check on additional seating. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Clyde’s never disappoints. The new menu is outstanding and our server made our lunch fun.
Excellent food, great service!!! Perfect location near the Gallery Place Metro
I attended a birthday luncheon for a colleague. The food was superb however, instead of the ordered Jumbo Lump Crab Cake , I was served a "miniature lump Crab Cake" ; easily consumed with two bites, and not compliant with the price.
Excellent food and service.
