We had a lovely Sunday brunch at Clyde’s celebrating my son’s birthday. I’d been to other Clyde’s before, but not to Gallery Place. The decor was lovely, the service was friendly and professional, and the food was excellent. We will go back.
We usually have good experiences with Clydes but Sunday morning at 10:30-11:30 the kitchen was VERY slow and the wait staff service was terrible. We eat out alot and can't remember the last time we had such bad service. Also there were two different music channel's playing on the speakers where we could hear them both at the same time -- did the staff just tune that out?
We had a wonderful waitress that gave us the best service! They have an excellent staff at this location!
It was very good!
Nichol took care of us tonight. Our food was amazing and our service was even better. If you are in DC don’t miss an evening at Clyde’s.
Bad mistake: bad food, sloppy service, poor wine selection. Not worth the trouble and the money.Sadly deteriorating...
Food was excellent! The best crab cakes!
Excellent food - very noisy but lovely ambiance !
I try to get to Clyde's whenever I'm in DC. This visit had a little hiccup but it was handled very well by the manager (Rick Fowler?). I'll always give them another try when in town.
Shrimp and Grits was lumpy & arrive to table cold reheat didn’t work well due to dish wasn’t prepared well like when I tried during lunch a few months ago. My friends enjoyed their food 👌🏽👍🏽 Waiter refresh table dish removal & water excellent!!! Atmosphere great to enjoy friends conversation.
Clyde’s Gallery Place is always a good spot to meet with friends. The food is consistently excellent and the servers are always outgoing and pleasant. It is always a wonderful experience at Clyde’s Gallery Place.
I booked at Clyde's because I have had great experiences in the past. Most recently, I booked for 6:30pm on a Tuesday, before a concert. We arrived early for our reservation. After being told that they were "just clearing the table", we proceeded to wait 20 minutes. Clearly, they were not just cleaning the table. After another 5 minutes, I told them we were leaving, and they found a table. We waited next to it while they cleaned it (it was in the bar area). Good thing, as multiple people tried to sit at the table while we waited.
We ordered as soon as the waitress came. She was great - and checked on us regularly - but the food took about 25 minutes. In that time, the bar got loud to the point where we couldn't hold a conversation. We made a reservation so we didn't have to eat in the bar, so this was particularly irritating.
I would rate this experience poor. I gave it an extra star for the nice waitress and my past, positive experiences.
First time coming and I was very impressed. Food was great and the service was excellent. I will come back.
Clyde’s never disappoints. We had good service and the food was great.
We had a reservation for 6pM, and were seated at 6:50. The French dip I had was fill of gristle.
We came to DC for the Pink concert. Our reservation was for 6:00- we did not get seated until 7:00. This is the second time that I’ve made a reservation there and had to wait due to them not being able to handle the high volume of people . The staff was very nice despite the many rude people that were just tired of waiting. I can’t say I blame them . Our waiter was wonderful
I made reservations and we arrived early. We were still seated in the bar area even though there were plenty of other tables available. I can understand seating us in the bar when there are no other tables or a walk in. Neither was our case. Other than the disappointing seating arrangements, the service and food was good.
Great for dinner before a show at the Capitol One Arena which is feet away. Food, service, drinks were great. Our server, Will, was excellent!
Fabulous food in the heart of Washington DC. Reservations recommended.
Clyde’s is really not the place to go before a hockey game. We had reservations for 5:45 and didn’t get seated till almost 6:30. And then we were planning on having dessert but the server took so long to get back to us to even ask that we ran out of time before the game. Clearly, they book too many tables for reservations and then can’t seat them all at the right times. And the server was very overworked. He was pleasant enough and the food came out in time but he just wasn’t around to collect the dishes or to refill our drinks. Food was excellent though.
Drinks and service was very good. I had the DC fried chicken with mumbo sauce, not so good. The chicken had a nice crunch to it but the sauce was all sweet, no tang or heat. Will definitely dine here again, just not get the DC fried chicken.
Service was super slow. We were there for the CAps game and waited over 30 minutes just to get our drinks
I made a reservation for dinner before the CAPS game, as I do often, Reservation was 5:30 , seated by six, took half an hour for our drinks and appetizers to show up. We never saw our waiter to order dinner. Finally finished dinner at 725...late for the game.
A great date night spot prior to the Capitals Playoff game. The bar area was packed with fans, but the dining room was well organized and quiet. We got the happy hour raw bar and had the crab legs and the oysters. Crab legs were hard to break, so I did not enjoy them too much, but the oysters were top notch and fresh. We had the Scallops entree and the Salmon entree and they were both phenomenal. Worth the price. We ended the night with dessert. The warm brownie sundae was great and the banana bread pudding was huge, but enjoyable. Our 5pm reservation got us out of their at 6:30pm and we went the the game stuffed! Great spot.
As always the highlight for was the exceptional raw bar offerings. Jonah Claws, outstanding Pacific rim oysters, huge delish shrimps. We also enjoyed splits of French Dip and Reuben Sandwiches
This is one of the many Clydes I've been to. This was my first time to the DC location. I loved the ambiance and the theme....pictures (painted and real) of Washington, DC.
It was not crowded, but somehow the service did not reflect this. It took awhile to get our water & non-alocholic drinks. Refilling the water seemed not do be on this waiters' radar. We did ask for bread, but got it after our meal arrived. My friend and I ordered a hamburger, etc., but I was disappointed in that it was not 'hot'....more warm and less hot. We had to ask the waiter for condiments, which is something he should have asked us knowing we ordered hamburgers , so we had to wait a bit to get mayo and ketchup! There were 6 of us dining and they were able to seat us at aq round table which was nice. Since the restaurant did not seem to be busy (it was about 1:30 on a Sunday afternoon), the service could have been a little better and food a little hotter. The manager was gracious enough to bring us 6 squares of coffee cake which was very nice. I would go back here but maybe order something else and send it back if it does not come HOT!
Delicious food and polite staff
Meat was a little tough. But great flavor
I would indeed come back to visit. Great atmosphere and great drinks and food.
Good food at reasonable price . Our server was pleasant .
Clyde's is one of the major go to's before a Washington Capitals game. Food is fantastic service is great. Always having great new options on their menu you never get bored with the choices. Love Clyde's!
We ordered naked buffalo wings, six pieces. They were cold and only garnished with celery, no carrots. I ordered the Pork Schnitzel with spatzle (german noodles) and rot-kraut (red cabbage). The meat was over cooked, dry, and cold. The noodles were cold and appeared left over, not fresh. My date had a salad and it was fine.
It was lovely!
The waitress was not attentive. She didn’t refill our drinks, check on us after we received our food, or even bother to clear our table after we were done. We had to track her down just to get our check.
I'm not sure what using OpenTable does for reserving a table. We had 7:30 a reservation, but when got there, we were put at the bottom of the list. We got seated about 15 minutes later, which isn't too bad on a Friday night in DC, but it was another 15 minutes before anyone came by to take our order. The food did come out quickly and was really good. Our server was more than apologetic and he said they gave him too many tables. I would probably go again or maybe try a different location.
The food was very good. The manager was excellent, but our server was not on top of things. She took our drink order as well as the appetizer we wanted. 15 minutes later no sight of her. Since I know it doesn't take 15 minutes to pour a beer so the manager took over. He then took care of our order and resubmitting our appetizer. The place was rather quiet.
Belated Christmas oft to my daughter and granddaughter
Great service, fantastic food. The waiter staff was on top of everything. Very enjoyable meal
The food was excellent and our waiter, Jesse James, provided good advice on the menu, checked in to see if anything was needed and got us out in time for the game. An enjoyable experience!
