our waitress was exceptional and the food delicious my two kids eat everything, definitely I will comeback soon
Wrong orders. Long wait. No attention. The manager John was very professional and understanding.
My experience was fine. I’ve given across the board bad ratings in the hope that restaurants will pressure opentable into making reviews VOLUNTARY. The way the app works, I am FORCED to leave a review of the last place I ate before I can even look at a menu for the next place.
Clyde's is a good restaurant with consistent food and service. Nice variety on the menu from sandwiches to steaks, soups and salads, and the dessert menu is good too. With so many different dining options in the Chinatown area this place is a good stand-by, particularly if the group can't decide where to go.
Excellent bacon/cheese burger. Always good service.
I have been going to Clyde's for 35 years. One mainstay is their crab cakes. This time, it was awful. The crab cake looked like it came from the frozen food section from Safeway, and even then it was poor. The french fries were NOT freshly cooked. They were cold and miserable. The cole slaw was more watery milk than cabbage. The iced tea, however, was fine. Had this not been a business lunch, i would have returned it and walked out - something i have never done.
We took some out-of-town relatives to Clyde's for dinner to catch up and treat them to a meal at an iconic local spot. We were placed next to an extremely loud table, which made it very difficult to talk and understand each other. The waiter came immediately, but launched right into the food order without offering drinks first. Felt we needed to rush through the food order quickly without time to really look at the menu. We had to call him back twice to ensure that everyone at the table had a beverage. He made a good recommendation for the variety of oysters, but I found them to be very expensive at $3 per oyster. The main featured dish, lobster shepherds pie, was ok, but nothing spectacular. This was not a comfortable experience for me. I will not return to this location for dinner.
I never regret going to Clyde's. They are consistently great in all areas...service, food, portions, etc. Bravo!
Middle of the day on a Friday with 2 kids, 4 and 2 yrs old. They were really accommodating and the kids menu is nice. Affordable and has veggies, etc. Regular menu always yummy.
Clyde’s of Gallery Place was always my go to restaurant when I worked in Chinatown before I retired. In fact, my retirement luncheon was held at Clyde’s. Nice to see that nothing has changed. Great service, great food, reasonable prices!
Everything was great
Food and service were terrific. A little pricey, but not unexpected.
The only peculiar note was the choice of music playing over the speakers - a mix of Top 40 hits more appropriate to a fast food restaurant.
You know that this is one of several "Clyde's" in the DC/Baltimore area. But, it has managed to keep that local one of a kind feel. My wife has been to some of the others, but this was my first time. I found it very comfortable. While a lot of wood in a restaurants can make it seem drab and dreary, not so here. They have the areas divided out nicely, so your level of exposure to noise and television downstairs depends on which bar area you sit. The upstairs is really a dining area. Little more formal. The sports art work is really exceptional. I walked around to see them all. Now, about the food: we were not disappointed!. I think that the food is really a great value. I guess it would be called "American" but that does not mean it is bland. We shared some great calamari. They put some peppers in with it and while the peppers had a bit of a bite, it was very well suited with the calamari. I had the salmon and she had the shrimp scampi. If we had taken boxes home they would have been empty. The gentleman taking care of us was very attentive but not overly so. He had a certain enthusiasm about what he was doing. I did have to laugh at one point. I inquired about what kind of peppers were in the calamari. His reply was quite detailed but really did not identify them beyond being "red". My wife and I had a nice chuckle as I told her that he will do very well because he was such a great bull.… well, you know what I mean. He got a nice tip. We had had a great day at the National Book Festival and this was a good meal to end the day.
Classic American dining experience in a variety of beautifully decorated spaces.
We always like Clydes. There were a couple of small glitches this time. I didn't have a knife in my place setting and told the waitress. She never brought one, so I took one from a set-up at another table. My husband got his meal and I sat with nothing. The waitress asked me I had sent my meal back because there was something wrong with it and I said no, I hadn't gotten it. She checked on it and got it eventually. The food was good, though, once it came. And overall things were okay.
Nice affordable place in DC to have lunch. The service was very good.
The staff made us feel really special. The service and the good food was appreciated. See you soon.
The host and waitstaff were friendly and knowledgeable. We really appreciated their willingness to work with our dietary requirements.
Much happier this visit! My colleague couldn’t stop himself from sampling my Shrimp and Grits, and his Calimari was excellent! Our server was outstanding!
Our waiter was friendly and accommodating. We had brunch in the upper level restaurant and the service was great!!
Food was delicious. Staff was very loud singing and yelling across the floor
Service was uneven. Food wasn’t cooked properly and returned.
Everything was great. It's a beautiful restaurant. My only complaint was the loud music, but the staff quickly turned that down when we complained.
I’ve e eaten here several times. Today’s experience was Irregular because it was extremely poor. We ordered shortly after being seated but our order was apparently misplaced in the kitchen. Confusing because the restaurant wasn’t especially busy. It was 50 minutes before receiving our food and that was only after requesting assistance from the manager and his decision to re-submit our order. We waited so long between the bread course that 2 of us weren’t really hungry by the time our food arrived. We ordered an appetizer course, 4 entrees and a child meal. It was like adding insult to injury to discover that our appetizer wasn’t even “ comped” to us after such a long wait.
Fantastic decoration and great atmosphere
Very nice service
Highly recommand Maryland Crab Soup!
Beyond disappointed with our experience Saturday morning. We arrived for our 10:00AM reservation and we had to call to have the door open. In fact when my family member came at 10:12 they were still locked out even though someone finally let us in. I have eaten here multiple times with positive experience but this was terrible. The front staff was so rude to me. I even heard one hostess say do you mind if you take our picture ?And I heard her say under her breath "yeah we do." On top of that, our server (we were his only table) was aloof and got the order wrong. They did end up comping us 2 meals, but I was embarassed since I had hosted 4 family members out of town.
Great lunch in a nice setting following our tour of Ford’s Theater. We showed up 40 minutes prior to our reservation but Clyde’s was able to seat us shortly after our arrival.
really tasty food! loved the staff and the awesome food specials
Excellent Staff and Service! The offerings for Restaurant Week were very reasonable for the price we paid!
It’s always hit or miss with the service in this place and this dinner the service was awful
While in town, my cousin recommended the location to celebrate my mom's birthday. We had a great time. The waitress took care of us well.
Excellent service with Jermaine, food was on point and we enjoyed our desert, hot fudge browne sundae
Love the peaceful, classy yet cozy atmosphere. Service was superb. Delicious French dip sandwich. Awesome!
Food was okay
Wonderful atmosphere, great food and service. No waiting with a reservation.
Great location. Reservation time was met. Decent menu options, but food quality didn't match restaurant ambiance and prices. My daughter ordered a turkey sandwich, my friend ordered beef nachos, her daughter ordered a cheese burger and I ordered a summer rice bowl. It looked like it came from a lower tier chain restaurant with higher end prices. Our waiter was fine, the restaurant was busy, but I didn't feel he checked back on us enough and we were left waiting without beverages and had to ask for refills of water and beverages. I would go back, but I'll lower my expectations of what I'm going to receive compared to what I'm paying.
Great food, wine and ambience. Bloody Mary's could use some work though!
My food was excellent. My wife raved about her Mac and Cheese. My daughter did not like her onion rings, but other than that everything was great. Really liked the ambiance and it was a short walk from our hotel.
Had the restaurant week special great value. The food and service was on point would recommend and return when in DC again.
