We made reservations after a long day of museum hopping. Our server, Elvis, was awesome and the chicken and rice bowl was wonderful. Try the creme brulee and the cappuccino!
The food was excellent, but the service was atrocious! I'm not sure if our server was new or understaffed or what, but he was terrible. My order was entirely wrong. Even the replacement was wrong. No big deal, the kitchen messes up sometimes and the replacement came really fast. I can handle that and not really be offended. I'm reasonable. But it took 25 mins just for him to come and get our credit card after we put it out for the bill not 1 min after he set the check down. 25 mins!!!! It felt like we were being held hostage. And he didn't apologize or anything for the delay or explain what was going on. Communicate with people and we may be able to give you a break. But 25 mins just for the bill. 3 people were there for 2.5 hours and only got entrees.... That's just unacceptable.
Great restaurant food was delicious
Great table for meeting old friends and tslking
I've been to this Clyde's many times. It was unpleasantly noisey. Our service was very slow and so by the time I got my entree, I wanted to leave. The food was tasty as always, but the experience was not good. I won't go back for anything other than lunch in the future. This is a shame as I really like Clyde's, but not so much the last 2 times I dined there. Sad.
Great service and excellent food
I recommend this place for all ages
Excellent, as always. Server was excellent.
Perfect and the rice bowl was amazing!! The wait staff sat us down right away.
Great food! Great spot if you're going to an event at the Capital One Arena. Always busy so make a reservation.
The service was really slow, made us rush to the concert. We ordered nachos that were stale. I wouldn’t go back.
Not the best Clydes by far. Limited menu. Server was nowhere to be found. Had to ask for everything multiple times.
This was a lunch engagement. My biggest complaint was, the price of a strawberry basil lemonade. This is a non-alcoholic drink. I ordered an Arnold Palmer and my guest order the strawberry basil lemonade. My drink was $2.99 and he drink was $10. Before ordering the drink she asked the waitress if they had any flavored lemonade. She told her about the strawberry lemonade. But she never mentioned the price.
When my friend asked if they had refills she was told no. So she just ordered another one thinking the drink was a regular priced.. We paid more for her two drinks than we did for our individual meals.
All around great place. Noise outside with street boom box seems too loud but not Clyde’s fault. Frequent whenever I’m in town. Great place.
I've been to Clydes and they have lovely crab cakes, but their brunch was AWFUL! My eggs were overcooked TWICE and I finally just ate what they brought. The steak was about two inches and also overcooked. It was just awful. I'd go back but for drinks only..
The hostess seemed bothered at the fact that we were approaching her to be seated. My boyfriend never lets things bother him and he even said she had an attitude. Not sure why..... ? The peach sangria tasted like straight bourbon and there weren’t any fruit. The flatbread was ok. The chicken #1 sandwich was dry and burnt. The fries were good. The waiter was friendly.
We had reservations and were seated promptly. This is a big space, and was very full perhaps due to the concert next door. It was also quite loud. But we enjoyed the atmosphere and just spoke a bit louder! We both enjoyed our food (crab artichoke dip, petite filet salad, turkey sandwich) and my daughter really enjoyed her cocktail. Clyde's chardonnay was perfectly acceptable. The service was good and attentive.
My Dad and I ate dinner at Clyde's before a concert at the arena next door. Although the restaurant was packed, we were seated fairly quickly and our server was very attentive throughout the meal. The decor -- lots of paintings of DC landmarks -- is quite nice. I ordered the catfish served on jambalaya. The catfish was perfectly cooked and very juicy. The "jambalaya" it sat on was more like spaghetti sauce with a couple of peppers chopped into it, with no sausage that I could see. The portion size was surprisingly small -- if my appetite had been at its normal level, I would have needed to order an appetizer and a dessert to be full.
Our server was very nice and knew the menu and answered all of our questions. She was very efficent and brought our drinks quickly. We ordered a cheese burger cooked medium well and a hamburger cooked well - no pink. In a short time - both meals were delivered - the cheeseburger was cooked perfectly - the hamburger was only cooked medium well. The server immediately took it back and had the kitchen correct the error. She returned in a few minutes and had us check the burger - it was now cooked well. The burgers were excellent in taste. We enjoyed our meal. Our server inquired if we would like dessert, we declined as we were full. She brought our check - we paid and left.
Our server was excellent - very pleasant and always had a smile on her face.
Overall OK. Food was excellent service a bit spotty. Restaurant was packed and they may have been shorthanded at the bar. Did not receive my drink until halfway through the meal after two follow up asks. Clyde’s does make one of the best crab cakes around so that was the saving grace.
Every visit to Clyde's is a great experience. I miss the Tyson't location.
The waiter was spread too thin and had too many tables. He was a fine waiter but not very attentive, as a result.
We were seated at a table where the leaf kept falling and hitting my legs - the staff quickly moved us to another table. It was much appreciated.
Dessert was disappointing. I ordered a blueberry and peach crumble that didn’t have a single blueberry in it. When I told the the waiter, he couldn’t have cared less.
The rest of the meal was delicious and was very quickly prepared.
food was great and service superb
close to capital one arena and portrait gallery and city center shopping
reservations a must if you have tickets for an event
wait time could be an hour without one
we were seated immediately and had a relaxing time
My two friends and I had a wonderful lunch. Food was great. Service was superior. I used to work nearby but am now retired. So when I come downtown I suggest coming here. Great!!
Elvis, our waiter, was very attentive without being intrusive.
I thought the food was good and the service was fine. My only complaint was that they seated my group of 6 people in a booth. We had 5 men and 1 woman. It was a bit cramped. We all sort of hesitated when ushered to the table but the host just suggested that I place my bag on the ledge. No offer to relocate us to a table with separate chairs. Perhaps they don't offer that arrangement. It was okay but not ideal.
Excellent service and food. The waiter was very attentive and pleasant!
Sandwiches were average at best. Dessert was much better, as the banana bread pudding was excellent.
Noise level from drummers outside the front door was deafening and really detracted from what should have been great ambiance. However, service was excellent.
Table was not ready when we showed up for our reservation -- was clear that they were understaffed. After being seated, waited ten minutes for a waiter/water. From there upon placing our order, it took us close to 45 minutes to get our food. I ordered the crab crake, which tasted fine but the fries were very overcooked. Took us another 15 minutes to get the check after we said we were done. Clyde's used to be great with great service, but has clearly gone downhill, at least at this location.
Extremely slow service.
Unspectacular but well prepared and tasty entrees. Portions vary widely (and unpredictably) across the menu.
Great place. Great value and atmosphere. What a nice meal out should be like. Our family of 6 loved it.
Perfect place after an event at the Capital One Arena.
We went to Clyde’s prior to a concert and, as expected, the restaurant was crowded. We had a 5:15 PM reservation and were seated right away, but the wait for our waitress and food was way too long so we had to eat very quickly to get to the concert on time. The food was not served until 6:20 PM. I had a petite filet salad and on one bite but into a toothpick that was buried in the lettuce and looked like one of the matchstick potatoes. We had seen other people complaining to the manager and he appeared not to care so I did not say anything (plus there was no time).
Clyde's Gallery Place is a favorite of mine and once again, they didn't disappoint. The crab cakes and the fish and chips were spot-on. And the service on a Friday evening was exemplary.
Love this place. Had fun and we all loved the music.
Great food. Great service.
The hostess obviously did not read our reservation and tired to seat us elsewhere in the dining room when our requested area was almost empty. Elvis our server was excellent. The food was good, as always. We had a great time catching up with old friends.
Our reservation was ready, food was good, service was friendly.
If you are looking for a quick place to eta, Clyde's of Gallary Place is not your place to eat. I took my party of seven over 2.5 hours to be served, fed, and to pay our checks. The food was good and the service was as well, we were just frustrated by the time it took from start to finish.
First off I was in for lunch. Met with family. Not business just a place to eat and chat for a bit. Food and service were incredible. Beer wa sober priced for a domestic draft but I was happy with final check so opulent complain. Well worthwhile if you ask me. I can imagine it is rather hectic in the evening, not so for lunch
