Clyde's of Gallery Place

Unortunately, the quality of food has slipped at Clyde's and it is no longer a pleasant and consistent experience. Crab cakes were lacking g substance and seasoning and calamari was over breaded and under represented. Service was excellent though .
We have been here before recently and had a much better experience. This time it took a long time before anyone came to our table (and they were not at all busy). A server came over and we clearly weren’t her table but she waited on us because apparently our server hadn’t shown. Why did they seat us there in an essentially empty restaurant? The service continued to be slow—we asked three different times for a coffee refillI and got it after we were done with our food. The food was fine and I don’t blame the server who helped us but the management should surely have a plan for when they are short-staffed.
Some of the best crabcakes anywhere. Maryland crab soup is near-perfect - Clyde's should think about packaging it. Before I moved to the here, I went to Clyde's on every visit to DC. Now that I live here, I come on a regular basis. NEVER a bad anything here, just consistently wonderful in terms of food and service.
We got there early. We sat at the bar. The bartender was so amazing that we just had dinner there and gave our reservation to another needy couple. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. Great experience all around. The bartender went above and beyond in all that he did. He was extremely busy, but always took a moment to make casual conversation and check on us. Rom is definitely a keeper. Thank you for a wonderful Saturday in the city.
Our server was very good. My french fries were lukewarm, but the ruben was good. 1 person said the calamari was good. Best glass of wine I have had in a long time. And price was not too high.
Had brunch here today before a visit to the National Gallery. We got seated and proceeded to wait 10 minutes for table service. The restaurant was not busy. Service person finally came after I complained to the maitre'd about lack of table service. Other than this experience, the meal went well.
I usually like clydes a lot but this visit wasn’t my favorite. I had steak and eggs and both were flavorless and the steak was tough. My friend had salad with chicken that she said was also rather flavorless. We paid a lot of money (approx $18 apiece) for bland food. It was disappointing. I hadn’t experienced that at clydes before.
Great casual dinner before a hockey game. Good food, good service, noise level reasonable given the circumstances.
Leon was a fantastic server. IT was a great dining experience.
Loved it. Service was great. The food was better than ever.
Our server was the best !! I forget her name :/
Had the crabcake, as usual--best in town! Their selection of gins for this martini drinker remains pretty feeble; nothing local, just the big names (Bombay, Hendricks) plus a Pennsylvania one (Barr Hill ) which is actually sweet--ugh.
It was a wonderful experience. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. By maintaining a seasonal menu with great food is awesome. Job well done.
Overall, a good experience. I had been here about a year ago and liked it. Two issues. One, eventhough we checked in with the hostess and she verified our reservation prior to seating my party, Open Table's email following up initially said that we were a no show. Second, when we had finished our meal, the waiter presented us with the correct check and I gave him my credit card for payment. When he came back with the bill for me to sign, it was someone else' check for about one half the amount of our bill. Being honest, I alerted the waiter to this mistake and he later brought me a check to sign for the correct amount of our meal.
Food was delicious. Service was pleasant, but I had to request bread twice. Very noisy before the Capitals game.
What a wonderful experience. Perfect place to grab a bite to eat before a Caps game. Even though there were a ton of Caps fans, it was completely family friendly and the wait staff were all so friendly and amazing! Will definitely return.
A true D.C. institution! Ordered a dozen oysters at happy hour and got them for half price. Service was phenomenal and we will definitely be back!
Everything was good! I will go back again soon.
The food was fantastic and the service was amazing!
Upscale AND family friendly! Delicious food, good selection, attentive service, lovely atmosphere. Everyone was happy from my two kids to my husband with a discerning palate. A bit pricey if you go for the steaks or raw bar, but definitely worth it. Highly recommend.
Awesome food and awesome service. The pepper soup was awesome and in general everything was good. The food came out very fast
The service was poor. When the food ultimately came for the table, my dish never came. After about 10 minutes I want to find the manager who apologized But didn’t offer anything. I sat with my party without food for the next 15 minutes. The food was delivered 25 minutes late after everyone of my party was done eating. I rejected the dish. The manager continue not to offer anything until I pushed the issue And shamed him into comping the table.
It was a shocking experience for a restaurant that I have been to scores of times since it opened, but not recently.
A really enjoyable experience for a work group dinner.
Clyde's is an indulgence without being expensive. Great food and service in a old-time atmosphere and steps from Capital One Arena. Perfect for eating before games or shows, but book ahead.
I like the variety of food on the menu and can count on everything being very good or excellent. I especially love the crab cakes, although they keep getting smaller.
I'm there for every Capitals Home Game. The food is always great! The service is always great but this time it was even greater than usual. Our waiter was kind, helpful and make our dinner more enjoyable!
Great atmosphere and service.
The service was atrocious. Our server clearly forgot about our table multiple times; as a result, our meal was late and we had no drinks for a good portion of the meal. The food was decent, but the server who brought it out tried to give it to two other tables before realizing it was ours. When we tried to pay for the meal, our server could not be found despite my getting up and looking for her and asking other servers for her whereabouts. Despite the fact we were on the second floor far away from the main bar, the music and TVs were so loud that you could barely hear the person sitting next to you.
With the World Series parade this Saturday this restaurant was packed and hoping. The restaurant should have had more waiters and waitresses. Many tables not being used and people standing around and sitting on the floor waiting. But with the staff they had it was great. We went there with the mind set be patient. We made reservations earlier that morning knowing it would be crowded. Elvis was our waiter and he was great. I would go back.
Thanks to everyone’s hard work.
We had reservations for six and we’re seated promptly. The service was poor but it was extremely busy and it did not appear to be the servers fault. We ordered drinks and they took over forty minutes to arrive. My husband and I ordered fish and chips and they were both extremely over cooked and greasy and served over cold fries. Our guests did not complain about their food.
Great ambiance. Much nicer than Georgetown location. Good service and great food.
They were slammed with customers before the Nats parade but should have anticipated the surge since they are next to Capital One Arena and all the events there. Took a long time to get drinks and food. Not the usual Clyde's experience. My reservation was for 1145, 3 of 5 people in my party were on time, the other two about 15 minutes late. The food and drinks were usual good Clyde's experience.
Made Reservation to have a meal before the Washington Nationals victory parade. Service was very poor. We were seated for over 30 minutes before our drinks were delivered. Multiple drink and food runners cane to the table with items that were not ordered by us. We were there for almost two and half hours and as a result were late for the parade and had a poor vantage point. Very disappointed and surprised as Clyde’s has always been much better than this.
Food was good as always. Service was kind of slow. It was very busy due to Nats victory parade. It's a great place for groups and we had a quiet spot which I appreciated. Have usually had better service.
We were a little late for our reservation and y’all were kind enough to save our table. Food was exceptional and we were able to hold a conversation with our dinner companions. We will be back.
Best pre-Caps game locale. Reasonably priced and impeccable service.
Great place, so put this Restaurant on your must try list.
The meal was delicious, service impeccable, very good price. Will go again!
The filet mignon was delicious. The Mediterranean hummus trio was tasty but rather small compared to the portions you get with other items. Very good service.
Never disappointed with Clydes.
