My wife and I were seated by two large groups. One had teenage kids that were really loud. Our oysters werr requested as an appetizer and came out with our meal instead which took a while. Overall we were expecting a better dining experience.
Service and foos were great
Beautiful setting, nice staff. The waiter balancing the plates on his arm and shoulder made my day.
Awful. Food was bad. Order was incorrect. Waiter was incompetent.
A great place to get together with friends in order to catch up. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable.
The food was mediocre and was loaded with salt. The service was decent and the server was very polite. However, there was a woman washing herself in the ladies room. I don't even understand how that happens...
Oysters were fresh and great crab cakes!
I thought everything was okay, not bad, nothing outstanding.
We walked in and were seated immediately. Our server, I believe his name was Elvis was exceptional. To be so young he was so professional, curtious and was always checking to see if we needed anything. We can't say enough about him.
Love crab soup but they need to tell the patrons if the soup is cream or tomato based. They had tomato based soup. Most places have cream style. Overall it was a nice experience.
The spot to eat before you go and attend any Capital One events.
Excellent service, food was great and look forward to dining there again.
The food was amazing, from the appetizer (crab & artichoke dip), to the entrees (salmon & crabcakes), to the sides (spinach & mashed potatoes). All of the portions were reasonably sized, not too much, not too little. Our server was Elvis and he did a fantastic job. He made great suggestions and was very polite and attentive.
Great food. Great atmosphere. A gathering place for seven guys who had an enjoyable time.
Took my 14 year old kids here after a day of DC site seeing. They were comically concerned about our casual attire. While we'd have enjoyed being a little more dressed up, our wait staff was gracious and attentive and our food was delicious!
Excellent service and food. The smoked salmon and scrambled eggs were amazing. Highly recommend.
I have come to this particular Clyde's of Gallery Place since the first day they opened. Today Tuesday March 12, 2019 has the worst experience ever. I had a reservation for 12:45pm, my party of four (4) arrived around 12:50-55pm and were seated immediately. The waitress took our orders at 1:10pm and we had to ask where our food was at 1:50pm , the waitress informed me that the Turkey Sandwich on Multigrain Bread, I ordered that the chief told her there is no multigrain bread. So after waiting an hour, you come back to inform me that there is no multigrain bread. Now mind you that I have been ordering this sandwich for the past 5-6 years on MULTIGRAIN BREAD! I always had to pick the sunflower seeds out my teeth afterwards. Now the new manger she comes out to tell me they don't prepare this sandwich on multigrain bread and maybe the waitress lied.....really! The new manger offered to remove the sandwich from the bill, nice jester, but it's not about the cost, it's about taking an hour to tell me that there is no multigrain bread and suggest the waitress was lying. They have changed all of the regular service folks and replaced them with people who do not care about the customers!!!!!!
The great thing about Clyde's is that there is something on the menu for everyone. Food is well executed, the staff is friendly, and the prices reasonable. Always a safe choice.
The food was great and the prices are reasonable. Extensive menu The service was slow. It was also quite loud. Would likely go again.
Great pre-Capitals game tradition.
Other than mediocre service from a waiter (John B.) that was slow and inattentive, a nice brunch overall. The food was delicious - Clyde's crab cakes are always superb. Calamari pipping hot and flavorful. Petite filet mignon salad perfect if you ask for the dressing on the side, otherwise it is over dressed.
I would still recommend to go but just had a bad experience. The waitress messed up both our meals and mine was ice cold and my bf was not even the meal he ordered. But was still good.
Our waitress was great and asked questions about food allergies in our party. We chose Clyde's because they had GF options but the first AND second items chosen by our friend were NOT GF according to the chef, even tho they were marked as such on the menu. Unfortunately, our friend still had a reaction (mild) that night to the "safe" food so beware those sensitive to cross-contamination.
Amazing service, great ambiance, excellent food. Will be back again!
Service much less attentive than usual. They were very busy tonight , and it showed. Food was overcooked too. Unusual for such a quality place.
I was very pleased with all aspects of my visit. Greeter was courteous and escorted to our table. Our server was very pleasant, informed us of specials and food was delivered as orders. Exceptional Service
We had a great time celebrating my friend’s birthday. Service was exceptional considering how busy it was. Truly a great lunch.
My friend had the single crab cake and it was just the right size. I had the shrimp pasta which was nice comfort food. Very efficient.
Had a 6:15pm reservation and did not get seated until 7:10pm due to a concert next door at Capital One Arena. When I initially checked in I was told the wait would be 15-20 minutes since there were a few tables to seat ahead of us. When we were finally seated we ordered right away and made it to the concert on time...barely. But we definitely didn’t get to enjoy the food or ambiance.
We had a 6:00 reservation and we were not seated until 6:45. Reservation desk poorly managed.
Always great food and service.
The food was excellent - grilled chicken sandwich with side salad, and roasted turkey sandwich with fries. Our waiter was exceptional. Best waiter we have had at Clyde's. Kudos to Jessie K. He knew when to come and check on us, we were not rushed even tho' it was very crowded due to a concert at the arena that night. He brewed a fresh pot of coffee for me when it ran out. Great evening all around.
Usually Clyde's offers a solid dining experience. Having been to each location over the years, they are consistent and have something for everyone's tastes. However the Clyde's at Gallery Place needs some serious interior renovation of finishes. We met for a business lunch because if its proximity to Metro. The first booth they seated me at had serious unappealing stains on the booth seat cushions. I mean distractingly unappetizing. As I was the first to arrive, I asked to be moved to the next booth because of the stain. The next booth was only slightly better with smaller stains. While I waited for my other party to arrive, I had to flag down the waiter 2x for a bevvy. He was congenial but easily distracted and forgetful. Our little table too booth lamp was out or order so we didn't have any nice lighting for ambiance. A small nit, but I noticed the same thing at the first booth, and when I tried to turn it on I cut my finger on the on-off button which someone had broken. The wooden slats on the adjustable blinds next to our booth were filthy. When i tried to adjust them to have more light, lint and debris drifted down to the window cill and table. Throughout the lunch, we were constantly trying to get the waiter's attention. He would come and be very friendly but forget to check on our lunch, etc. When lunch finally arrived, the food was really good, so there's that. Crab cake was fresh and meaty and the fish and chips were the perfect combo of crispy and moist. All in all, Clyde's does a good business because it has a good reputation. The Gallery Place location featured a fabulous build-out when it first delivered but it doesn't look like they have done anything to it since then. Kind of shabby and unkempt. But they still turn a lot of tables due to the location. 4 out of 10 for ambience and cleanliness, and 8 out of 10 for food. Time to give everything a good scrub and refresh.
Clyde's is the best and most reliable option for dining before an event at Capitol One Arena. Service is always efficient, and the food is always good. It has a wonderful atmosphere, and it is the perfect restaurant for everyone - be it singles out to have a good time, or families looking for a good meal. Perhaps not the finest restaurant in the city, it is always my first choice when dining in town.
Our waiter Marcus was outstanding
I ordered a salmon salad and received the wrong order when served. It took some time to find someone to Follow up and our server discovered that my entree went to a different table. I realized after I started to eat (it was quite late when we started to eat) that the previous diner must had put some additional things in the plate like humanoid and French fries. I had limited time with my dinner guest so didn’t want to resend the salad back but I should have because the meal was truly terrible. The server should have brought me a fresh entree to start.
Clyde's is always wonderful as an end of the day stop. We miscalculated our day by an hour so we thought we would have to wait for our reservation time. The staff seated us after only a 10 minute wait. I will keep coming back!
Excellent food and service..quick service . Fun place with lots of atmosphere
