Clyde's of Columbia
Belated Mother’s Day brunch. Wife was thrilled with the outing and patio seating despite the heat and humidity.
We sat outside and the ambience was great because we could see all the activities of the people walking by and around the restaurant. The service was very gad as was the food.
This was a first date that was a winner all the way. The server was ebergetic, helpful, and knew his menu. The atmosphere was busy, but mot hurried, with great ambiance. And we were seated within 5 minutes.
We have come to Clyde’s many times before and this was the worst experience by far. Food was pretty good, but service was awful. Went 10-15 minutes multiple times without seeing waitress before food was brought out. Asked about specials and was told there was none, but overhead specials being presented to another table. Food was brought out 40 minutes after ordering and restaurant wasn’t even that busy. Pregnant wife had to ask multiple times about refilling water glass when it had been empty for 10-15 minutes. Bathrooms were disgusting. Won’t be going back any time soon.
Hostess was not friendly, and informed us that outdoor seating was not available. I had asked her to recheck because I saw 3 tables open. She then, corrected herself and showed us to a table on the patio. No apologies, no smile, poor first point of contact person. The server was also not cheerful. These folks do not appear to be enjoying their job. It was at 2:30 pm on a Saturday, not particularly busy. I also ordered a coffee after the meal, the server asked if I wanted creme with it, and then never brought it. Wings and soft crab sandwich and crab soup were as expected. Next time we want a meal by the lake, we might prefer self serve at the salad bar at Whole Foods.
The food was great but the service was kind of slow and things got forgotten after telling our waiter and the food runner.
Wait staff was overwhelmed by the pre-concert crowd
Our waitress was great. The food...not so much. The wings were supposed to be fried but they were more of a baked texture and all the flavors tasted the same even though we ordered different ones. The crab cakes were tiny, the catfish was over breaded and all of the food lacked flavor. Very disappointing.
Great place for a business lunch. Clyde's is reliably good.
We went to Clyde's for Mother's Day. The food was good, but a bit pricey for the upgrade to the soft crab sandwich. Service was slow and our waitress was friendly until asked to explain an issue we had with the bill (i.e. adding an extra soft crab to a soft crab sandwich was a $10 upcharge that was not explained up front and the upcharge for an extra side of fries to go home was $5 as opposed tot he normal $2.99 side item charge. Upon questioning the bill, she disappeared and never returned to the table nor asked a manager to stop by. The fact that one of the guests with us is a server as well made the errors and lack of care even more evident. I would love to give Clyde's another try, but suffice it to say Mother's Day Dinner wasn't as special as I might have expected.
Excellent service for a busy Mother’s Day. Need to bring back turkey burgers and cassedias.
We received very good service considering it was Mother's Day. Highly recommend the fresh fish dishes - we had the scallops and salmon. Only the catfish was a little disappointing. Nice place for a family dinner.
The waitress wasn’t very nice. She was short with us and ignored my son when he spoke. She forgot things that we asked for multiple times and was borderline rude. Otherwise a great experience.
I think it is overpriced. The food was adequate. Not terrible but nothing special. I got the crab cake and it was more like a crab ball. Not very big and a good amount of fillers. Two bites and that’s it. You could do better than that, especially in the crab capitol of the world. My friend got the onion soup which got a thumbs up and Reuben which had dry meat in it.
Everything was great. We went out for Mother’s Day expecting for a long wait despite our reservation. When we arrived, we were seated right away. Food was delicious and the service was great. My only complaint is that it was absolutely freezing!
We have been going for decades. Does not disappoint!
We love Clyde’s and return often. We dislike the tables along the front windows because you are so close to your neighbors and the servers end up having to stand between tables.
I went to Clyde’s in Columbia yesterday for Mother’s Day. Was extremely disappointed with the service . Waiter was very slow with greeting, drinks - pretty much disappeared. I had to ask another waiter if he could get our waiter.
It was freezing where we were seated and when I told the waiter it was really cold , he said they could “try” to adjust the temperature. Why not just move us?
Look, I have waited tables before and I still tipped although the waiter didn’t deserve it . My mother was done and wanted her food to go as I watched other customers complain and were move to a different table.
We will not be back to Clyde’s in Columbia. The Clyde’s in Rockville and Chevy Chase will be our go to.
Avoid this location, service has gone down hill.
The Caesar salad was fair. The view was perfect and our server remembered about 85% of our order.
Food took a very long time with no explanation. Strawberry shortcake amazing!
We sat outside and they were very busy. Despite the host and then the server saying they would get us our silverware "soon", we didn't get the silverware until after our food was served. There were a few other slip ups from their normal good service.
Clyde's was totally superb in all ways and continually the best that Columbia has to offer.
We were at Clyde's after the M3 festival as always. We appreciate you all catering to the rock crowd and playing rock music for us. It's always a fun time.
Clydes has been a favorite go to for many years. This dinner was not great in that I ordered the brick chicken and the chicken came from the kitchen only partially cooked. My husband had to find the waitress who did ensure that another was brought to me. It was fine, but by the time I received my dinner, my husband had long finished his own. This typically does not happen, here so it was a disappointment. We ordered dessert and it was also very long coming. Maybe an off night for our favorite place.
While view is fantastic, on the lake in Columbia, and service was really good, the food was disappointing. Nothing truly creative, special about the Brunch menu. Too costly for mediocre food.
We come for the rock festival every May. This is our eighth year and we eat at Clydes at least twice each stay. Everything is amazing from the service to the Food and cocktails
The food, drink and service were great. Parking across the street was convenient. The location by the water is nice. We had a great evening there.
Superlative food, service and ambiance. Good value.
Felafl was just bad. I did not enjoy my visit there.
Everything was good until I got up to leave. Someone had put their discarded chewed up gum on the seat. Even though I thought I had checked well before sitting down I missed it. When I got up to leave the gum was imbedded in my trousers and purse. I have been unsuccessful in getting the gum off my trousers and they are ruined.
Thank you for letting me vent.
Great place to hang out on the Columbia Lakefront, it's been an institution for years. Great interiors and amazing fries.
Always a great experience at Clyde's. Consistently good food and service and the atmosphere is always great.
We first went to Clyde's in its earliest days when it first opened in Columbia. Although we now live in Pennsylvania, any time we are in the area we try to have a meal at Clyde's. We are always pleased with the food and the service. This time was no exception. Our waiter, Tim or Jim, was very helpful in describing the menu items and when asked to recommend one or the other of two choices (crab cake or scallops) he did not hesitate to recommend the scallops ands to provide a reason -- they always have the crab cake but the local scallops are rarely available. I followed his advice and was very pleased. We had a very good time and can't wait to go back again.
I enjoyed dinner at Clyde's Columbia with my wife and inlaws on Easter Sunday. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. It was a great way to spend the afternoon and early evening. We always enjoy Clyde's and this visit was no exception. It was really nice and I can't wait to get back there for another great dining experience.
Very nice Easter brunch. Server offered to bring out kids meals as soon as ready before adult meals. But then the kids meals came out 10 minutes AFTER adults meals. We got an apology. Other than this hiccup, meal experience was great.
Everything was on piont, well done the waiter with (dreads) Rayner Angelo and the lady who made our the host Miss Lutec. Thank you for your hospitality, and great food and first class service. The Birthday gal and the entire crew of ten, will definitely come again! The service was excellent we did not realise it was time 2am and yet we had planned to go for dancing at Union Jack! The food was reasonably priced for everyone!
I ordered a steak salad with the steak cooked medium. It was supposed to have bacon, sunflower seeds, and hard boiled eggs. The steak was over cooked and very chewy. The core of the lettuce was in my salad and there was no egg or sunflower seeds. The waiter took it off the bill and offered to bring me something else.
