Clyde's of Columbia Ratings and Reviews
We are regulars at this location... the service was off on this particular visit. Just did not have that usual Clyde's professionalism. Server stood right behind me and had an extended conversation with another individual before even taking our drink order... did not check in with us during the meal. Like I said... not up to Clyde's standards
My wife and I like Clydes in general for its ambiance and good eats. However, our experience on this occasion was par. The window seat was drafty, though we asked to be seated by the window for the view outside. The pastrami sandwich was on thin bread which was overwhelmed by the meat and kraut and sauce. The meat wasn't as tender as I anticipated. However, my wife's rockfish was very good. I felt I was often searching for our waitress. Service and food is usually good but for some reason this was not its night. Maybe next time...
It was cold and the waiter with whom we were NOT overall happy noticed our wearing our coats while seated, said he would have the thermostat made highter - never did. The same waiter had a difficult time getting to our table - asked to refill our coke glasses, never did. The food came on time. THe mussels, while fresh were mixed with chic peas and the sauce was forgettable. The French onion soup was good. The cod was tasteful as was the lemon broccoli but the mashed potatoes was a scoop of a lump of potatoes with no taste. Since I had leftovers, I added salt and garlic powder for eating the leftovers at home.
We got seated right away, which was a good sign. But that was about the best thing that happened at this restaurant. After we got seated the hostest got our water and then we sat there waited for about 25 minutes for someone to take our order but no one came, so we decided to sit for another 10 minutes until our group of 3 decided to leave and eat some where else. I'm a frequent customer at the Rockville location and can say that the customer service there is above and beyond the columbia location. One thing that I can take away from this experience is that I will never visit the Clyde's Columbia again.
There was a bit of wait (15 mins) to sit down even though we made reservations at 7:30pm for New Year's Eve. The server was very hospitable, however, we were a bit disappointed after we've learned that the restaurant would close at 9pm for a NYE party event. Not sure why reservations were allowed up to 8:30pm when we booked online but I digress. I had ordered the salmon with a side of rice. I wasn't impressed. The salmon was very bland; broccoli rock hard and bland as well. The rice was assaulting my taste buds and after three or four bites I had surrendered.
We received our food after 8pm and were hurried to digest our food before the restaurant closed. Server did not offer us a dessert menu due to the "scheduled" event at 9pm. It showed how much they cared about the party arriving and not the guests eating at the restaurant.
Will I return to the restaurant? No. Will I recommend this restaurant to anyone? Maybe, but I would suggest not ordering the salmon dish. Maybe they had rushed to prepare my meal, thus reason for the lackluster taste.
The only good thing I can say is the drinks were good. My other companions seem to enjoy their meals.
We had a very lovely night. Food and service were both very nice.
They never brought one person's drink the entire meal but otherwise great.
Also we were told the restaurant is handicapped accessible but it is a really long walk from where you can drop someone off to the entrance of the restaurant. One person in our party has mobility issues and this made it night difficult.
During this visit, our service was very spotty. We sat our table for nearly 9 minutes without any server acknowledgement and when he finally came over, he never apologized for the wait and simply took our order. We only saw him one other time as our entrees were being served and he asked us how our food was (!) and just before he was planning to present the bill. He never checked on us during our meal, to clear dishes or refill beverages. The table next to us also experienced significant delays in their requests for simple requests such as coffee.
Our appetizer arrived within 9 minutes and our entrees took 30 minutes to arrive after being ordered. All food entrees were perfectly prepared, nicely presented and served at the proper temperatures. The steamed rockfish was delish, especially the broth. It would have been great to serve with some crusty bread to soak it up.
I like Clyde's food and restaurant atmosphere, but I expected much more attentive service.
It was Christmas Eve and the place was very busy. Everything took longer than I have experienced the many times I've gone in the past. The meatloaf was overly salted. The pasta dish tasted under cooked. Couldn't find the crab in the cream of crab soup. I've been many times before and it must have been an off night.
I was there for a Christmas-Eve date. Food and service were both fine, but not spectacular. Restaurant was very busy and lively. I do wish greater effort had been made to accommodate my request for a "quiet, romantic table," or at least referred to with apologies. My Duroc pork chop was especially good.
Visited to celebrate a birthday, just before Xmas. I made the reservation time based upon the online events calendar indicating “carolers” singing. The carolers were just wrapping up as we were seated. And no one mentioned the birthday. The food was fine, the holiday menu was a bit disappointing.
Very enjoyable evening and relaxing time with my wife. We started with a glass of wine and a dirty Gin Martini. I had cream of crab soup, Caesar salad and French dip entree. My wife had Brussels sprouts salad and the salmon dish. We finished the meal by splitting apple pie a la mode.
It was more than enough to eat overall.
Our wait staff was very accommodating and helpful throughout the meal. Always a good experience.
My Team and I were looking forward to visiting this very popular restaurant as it had good reviews. As the Director, I had reserved a table for 9 guests and was hoping to get in before everyone got there to set up some holiday gifts and order the appetizers, however was quickly disappointed to find that I couldn't be seated until at least several people in my party was present. When we were finally seated, at a small round table in a tight corner, there was no room to put any gifts and limited space for food. All in all we made due, enjoyed the taste of the food and had a good time!
Our orders were taken very quickly and our meals were brought to us in a timely manner.
The food was very good as well as the initial service. After that it seemed as though the restaurant became quite busy. We didn’t see much of our waiter as the evening progressed. A drink order was forgotten too.
Other than that my group of friends had a very good time.
From beginning to end, this was a memorable anniversary celebration. While waiting for our table, our cocktails at the bar were perfect, especially the custom-stuffed blue cheese olives for my martini. Thanks, Ben. During dinner, our server, Del, was attentive without being obtrusive. Our entrees were excellent- filet mignon (him), and fresh rockfish (me). Dessert on the house was the 'frosting on the cake', so to speak (eggnog bread pudding). In addition, the manager stopped by to offer her anniversary wishes. And, best of all, the staff kept our daughter and her husband's secret, and our evening expenses were completely taken care of remotely.
Keep up the good work, Clyde's.
We ordered a seafood pasta and meatloaf dinner. The meatloaf came and was cold as ice. Asked waitress to have it warmed. Waited and waited for 20 minutes. By that time my wife’s dinner looked like dead shrimp and scallops laying in seaweed on the beach. No apologies no consideration. I told the manager that i had lost my appetite and they had ruined our dinner. Will never ever go to this Clyde’s again!!!
We were spoiled! I mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and an anniversary, not expecting anything other than a nice table. We were offered champagne and dessert on the house! What a wonderful surprise and so much appreciated! I had the duck. It was super fatty and not what I was hoping for, but the other things made up for that. Thanks for making our day special, Clyde’s.
We made this reservation for a friends 30th birthday. The food that came out properly was great! However a steak that was ordered well done came out mid rare. It was very busy but our server was less than stellar. Between constantly searching for her, 20 minute wait for drinks (more than once) and steady eye rolls at any question or request she easily ruined the experience for us. We will come back to Clydes since the food is great, we'll just hope for a server that isn't so bothered by a table with a $500 tab.
