Most of this most experience at Clyde's was good and as expected, but once again, the front of the house was a misery (2nd time this month, and one of the bunch was entirely recognizable thanks to the over-the-top makeup look - think The Joker with false eyelashes). A flock of hostesses (all women) were at the desk, all rude, cold, unhelpful, and disorganized. We bothered with a reservation because one of us was just off a much-delayed flight from Europe and exhausted, and we just wanted to get a bite to eat efficiently and crash. But efficient this wasn't. None of them seemed to care or check on a reservation, and at least 4 other parties of 2, 3 of which I'm dead sure were walk-ins (easy to overhear) were seated before us. Would it kill any of them to smile and/or do their job properly? When I inquired I got a curt answer and a dirty look for my trouble. The drinks and food were OK but the start left a bad taste in the mouth from the get-go.

Commendation: They have updated their menu a bit, adding some appetizers and tweaking a couple of entrees. Recommendation: I wish they would add a simple, healthful grilled fish with vegetables. All of their seafood is high in sodium and served with sauces that contain chorizo or other ingredients that I wish to avoid. The service has improved in my last two visits.

We eat here regularly but on this occasion, the service including the front of the house was fair. I asked for a bag to carry my leftovers. The hostess pointed me to the bar and said to ask the bartender. The bartender was very busy. There were 2 other hostesses who were standing around. I was surprised that not one of them offered to get me a bag . My Pinot noir was served in a very warm chardonnay glass - glass just came out of the wash per the server. Food was good.

The food was excellent and the portions ample but the service was slow (looked like insufficient wait-staff.

It's the first time I was disappointed in my meal. I got a beat saladwith grilled chicken and it was dripping in salad dressing and unetable except for the chicken I picked out.
My friend said her hamburger was great.

Food was terrific. Service was just average. Restaurant smells like mold when you enter the front door, but it didn't affect the taste of the food.

Our book group met for brunch and had an unrushed time. Service was great. Although busy, conversation was easy.

I have been to Clyde's several times. This visit, the service was super slow. It took a very long time for our table even to get bread, which came almost at the same time that our appetizer arrived. I ordered a fish dish but couldn't eat it - the fish wasn't fresh. It tasted very fishy and ended up just eating the chick peas surrounding the dish. Clyde's is usually a great place for my family to dine so I am hoping this was just an off night.

Such wonderful service and great food. That, plus dinner is a beautiful, warm room makes this restaurant tops. I so, so commend it.

Perfect for a table of 9. Nice atmosphere. Good food and good food selection. Reasonably priced. Noise level was bearable (and I'm hard of hearing!). Only complaint is that the service was slow.

My best friend and I recently decided to go to Clyde's for our Sunday night meal. We had not been in many years. They have done a great job in updating the menu (the burgers are delicious) and the service is exceptional. It has become our place of choice for our weekly nights out!

Excellent for get-togethers with friends, taking in-laws to dinner, or nice birthday dinner for older children. Quiet, but not sepulcher. Excellent understated service. Your private club atmosphere.

Food is consistent. Not bad but not great. The restaurant is really lacking in atmosphere. It feels like a step back in time to the 1970's. Other locations are much nicer decor and setting. Waiter was genial but not super visible.

I went to Clyde's of Chevy Chase for a New Years Eve dinner with my daughter. Service was exceptional and the food even better. The great thing about this Clyde's location is that the noise level in the restaurant is low enough to have conversations at a normal level. The ship and plane models on the main level are awesome and the old cars on the lower level are worth
a trip downstairs to take a look at. All in all a great experience.

Clyde's is a lively spot....and a good spot to take the kids. Although it would be even more fun if the train at the Chevy Chase location were operable for a change.

The restaurant is attractive and has an atmosphere, and the location is convenient, but the food was not good at all, and we waited truly an unreasonably long period of time for our main courses. The staff are very nice and friendly, and we had a really pleasant waitress, but the food was pretty bad. The crab cake was strangely flavorless, maybe a little salty? The texture was kind of mush, and kind of somehow stiff on the outside. The salads were fine. The tuna tartare was also flavorless, it needed something. The salmon main course was terribly overcooked and dry, and no particular flavor either. The steak was good, and so were the french fries. I doubt we will be back any time soon. Regarding the long wait for our meal: in fairness they were busy when we ordered, but it is a large place, and they were well-staffed, and should be able to get the food out on time. But, the food itself was not good at all, except for the steak and fries.

Food is predicable american fare in a family friendly environment. The service was slow and inattentive while the chocolate cake we ordered for dessert was not edible. It was dry, stale and tasteless. Not a good way to finish off an otherwise mediocre meal

Found this branch of Clyde's when we couldn't get a table at Tower Oaks. What a pleasant surprise! The décor is fun and unique and the menu is (as always with Clyde's) a consistent good meal. This location offers a couple of things the other locales do not: the best liver and onions I have ever tasted! A real treat! My vegan daughter had no trouble having her needs accommodated and we had an elderly person and the access was easy and comfortable. We had a large party---celebrating a birthday--and we all, without exception, had a lovely meal and a great time together!
Always love oyster Happy Hour--one of the main reasons we focus on Clyde's.
The room we were in was a bit noisy, but the service was wonderful and the food terrific.
We will be back!

My family was celebrating a Xmas birthday. I made the reservation based upon the Clyde’s Event calendar indicating “carolers” from Sidwell Friends. Unfortunately, there weren’t carolers on this evening nor was the Birthday acknowleged.

Otherwise, the food was very good, our server pleasant and efficient. Because, it was Xmas Eve the atmosphere was festive.

Arrived with family for 4:45 Christmas Eve dinner reservation. Because of the hour, very very few tables were full. Hostess took our party to the worst table in the restaurant (extreme SW corner, by emergency exit stacked with child high chairs and by kitchen.) Given how empty the restaurant was, we asked for a different table and were told pretty rudely that we could not move to another table. When our waiter came, and pleasantly asked how we were, we mentioned what had just happened, and he pointed to another table that he said we could have (much nicer table), and we happily moved. Waiter saved the day. The restaurant VERY slowly filled and still was not completely full by the time we left! Hostess was horrible.

We had not been to Clydes for years, but had thought it would be a festive place for the holiday dinner. Food was only mediocre. We wont return.

Booked with open table. Had to invent a US telephone number as I was from the UK and no numbers even with +44 were accepted!
Meal was one of the best we had. The gluten free pasta Sausage Radiatori was particularly great. Service was excellent, although the train up ahead did not move all evening! Great atmosphere.
