As in past years, the fall lobster special is excellent and an outstanding value. The salads and French fries were good but not great.

The new menu seems to be more expensive than the old one, with more variety in starters and less variety in salads and main dishes.

The lobster special was delicious - sweet and juicy. The service was really slow - a long time to take our order, and over 20 minutes to get our checks/payments processed. This was most unusual for Clydes. Perhaps there was a Sun. nite staffing issue.

Clydes Chevy Chase is very consistent. Good food. Good service. Good value. Things can be a little chaotic at "rush hour" (ie, 7:30 pm) on a Saturday, but they always deliver.

The lobster special brought us in this time, as it did last September. However, we frequently visit Clyde's Chevy Chase because we find vegan and vegetarian food we like, + the noise level is pleasant, and the seats are very comfortable + I love the train, boats, and cars.

Clyde’s never disappoints but the seasonal lobster shepherd’s pie was not up to their usual quality. I would not order it again- it had a fair amount of lobster, but the sauce & veggies were very bland.

One can always count on good food at Clydes. We all had something different and everyone enjoyed their meal. We have always found the service good at Clydes and this last visit was no exception. The hostess staff was also very friendly and engaging.

We have been Clyde's customers for years and were excited to take my 87 year old Mom out for a lobster dinner. For the first time on Sunday, we were disappointed in a number of ways. The restaurant was busy, but despite a reservation, we were made to wait, there was confusion at the hostess stand re: when we would be seated, the hostess had a snippy attitude with us and other guests. The waiter, while very polite, missed a few items in our order, and the salads were brought out simultaneous with the dinners. There were no wine glasses available when my mother asked for her glass of wine! COME ON! There was nothing surprising about being busy on a holiday weekend Sunday night. I would steer clear of the restaurant on busy days in the future.

Food was reliable and plentiful as always. Service, although very gracious, was a bit slow for the entree course. I'm guessing the kitchen was backed up as food arrived hot. Clyde's is a great value

Was able to sit outside on a beautiful day. Very attentive service and the food was excellent. Also, tried a Sauvignon Blanc by the glass, which was very nice. Always a favorite. My only suggestion would be that Clyde's create a more convenient restroom as it is a very long trek down the stairs to the back of the building. It makes it difficult to pop up for a second.

This was a lunch of high school classmates (Class of 1954). The setting was perfect: casual and not rushed. Parking is available and the restaurant validates your parking ticket. The menu has a variety of choices of varying prices. The service was excellent.

As a frequent customer of Clyde's restaurant, the lobsters were excellent, nicely cooked. The sides were a little mixed, but overall most were quite good. The service was very good. The crab dip appetizer also was excellent. Nice place to gather for an easy evening to enjoy the food and the company.

It's always a pleasure to visit Chevy's in Chevy Chase but the menu, while pleasing, didn't live up to its potential. The Lobster Bisque... wasn't. It had the look, consistency & taste of Brown gravy & no lobster meat at all. The grilled chicken Caesar salad was better & more of what one would expect. The service was excellent. But only 3 stars for the food this time

I really think Clyde's prices have gone way up. For example, $19.95 for one crab cake!! They seem to be training a lot of new people--which is good. But fair warning--right now parking is very tight what with the construction going on.

Clyde's is a DC institution, and should not be missed by visitors. There are four I can think of, one of which is the Chevy Chase branch. It has model cars, ships and a model railroad on tracks overhead from the seating area. You will not find haute cuisine ere; ather the food is predictable and oriented to fare that all generations can appreciate. The wood trim throughout gives it a bistro like ambience. The booths are divided by glass panels which reduce the noise level overall and from booth to booth. The servers are fiendly and efficient and responsive as well; when my wife asked a server for lemons for her water, she had them within two minutes. We were there with a couple from France who spoke almost no English; the server was very patient while we translated the various menu items.

Good food. Great atmosphere that we always love. Slow service. Dirty dishes remained on table forever. No offer of dessert menu for adults when kids ordered. Waitress was generally not attentive. Clyde’s does a great job of keeping the noise down so it is easy to talk, but you don’t hear what others are saying.

Had the lobster specials which were very well priced. I like Clydes in Chevy Chase. You don't have to scream to be heard. The banquettes are comfortable. Food is well priced and tasty. It's a consistent experience.

Saturday Brunch for five at 11 AM. Sorry to report two things which spoiled the experience. Not up to Clyde's standards at all. 1. Banana Pancakes ordered. No bananas in dish when it arrived. When server was asked, seemed surprised, said he would check. Returned to say no bananas available. Why wasn't he able to provide that information before the order was prepared? An alternative would have been ordered. That failure was discussed with server. He apologized, but seemed unfamiliar with asking guest to re-think order, when advised that major part of order was not available. 2. Two orders of scrambled eggs arrived solid and cold, as if they had been prepared and left to wait under a "heat lamp".
Not happy guests.

Steak was fantastic - juicy and just done medium rare. Lobster, though, was disappointing, not as tasty as usual - almost felt as though it had just been sitting there waiting for an order.

Clydes chain is pretty unusual, in that it provides decent middle of the road bar food at reasonable prices in a lavish setting ( we've been to all their locations ). Had the lobster special, however, and was disappointed in the 1 and a quarter pounder. Too small. Should be a pound an a half for a few dollars more. Also, the coleslaw was minuscule. Fries were good. Other guests were happy wit their meals.

Clyde's rarely lets me down. Reservations are promptly seat. Wait Staff well trained and attentive. Food is uniformly very good. The lobster festival brings me in weekly.

One small glitch this last time. I decided to indulge in a dessert and choose the chocolate cream pie. The filling was wonderful but the crust was a sloppy mess with an unappetizingly slimy texture. It needs refinement.

But I'll be back next week for another taste of lobster.

BTW, what happened to those prize-winning and hilarious post cards ("airplane food never tasted so good", " The lobsters are coming and boy are they steamed") Please bring them back!!!!!!!!

This was just quick lunch for my husband and myself. Sandwiches; he had the BLT and enjoyed it, I had the bbq pork, was just o.k. more sauce than I enjoy. I also had the Maryland Crab soup. For some reason was not as good as it was the last time I had it. Lots of veggies and not much crab. Tasted fine, just not what I expected.

Clyde's is a well-located American style restaurant that's very pleasant to dine in. I just wish the food was a bit better. I think the crab cake, which I've had in the past is good, but my quiche this last lunch was just so-so.
