Just a Monday night dinner with my brother. We decided to go to Clydes for the prime rib special. Really enjoyed the prime rib. Service was good all in all a nice evening Really like the ability to substitute side dishes. Thank you Clydes.

Been there twice. First time was very good. Excellent service. Son has food alergies and they were very attentive to this. Their system has a flag on the order for the kitchen to be made aware of the food alergy . Second time, the service was lacking. Very slow. Little attention. Goofed up one diner's order, then, when informed, they goofed up the re-order. Initially, no aknowledgement and no accommodation. When check arrived, was charged for the mistaken order (which was more expensive), rather than the orginal order. Manager immediately fixed this by comping the goofed-up meal for the one diner. In the end, manager was great, but took an long time to get there. Still will go back, though.

The new pasta item, squid ink bucatini with seafood is really good and a nice addition to the menu. Also the chicken tortilla soup is very tasty. With such a large menu, it is usually easy to find something that suits you on any given day.

I still wish they would bring back the crab tower on the appetizer menu. I really miss it and it has been gone for a long time.

Quite disappointed with Clydes on Valentine’s Day. I grew up going to Clydes Resturants all over the area and the one thing I could say was there was always great service, from the hosts through dinner. Unfortunately it was quite the opposite. I understand that Valentine’s Day is a busy day, but it seemed that the hosts were more worried about the people who made a stink than the people who were patiently waiting for their seats. We arrived a few minutes early for our 7:15 reservation. They told us they were running a few minutes behind but I understood. Around 7:25 people started arriving for their 7:30 reservations. We still had not been seated. While waiting I watched 4 different couples, who arrived after 7:30, get seated before us because they went to the desk and complained that it was past their reservation time. I understand how busy it can get and we all just want to keep the guests happy. But it was SO FRUSTRATING to watch couple after couple be seated before us, with reservations after us, because they started to make a stink. Finally after 7:50 my husband went to the stand to ask what was going on, and they seated us immediately. If I knew all it took was to go back and make an issue then maybe we would have said something earlier.

When we were being seated we then saw at least 2-3 empty, clean and open tables in each section we passed. Clearly they were understaffed for the night (which I understand because people want to be with their own love on Valentine’s Day). This then added to the frustration because they clearly overbooked their reservations when they did not have enough servers.

Our server had at least 7 tables at one point, and was doing her best to keep up with them all. I can imagine that was an exhausting night.

It was good to see that there were managers out on the floor helping clear plates, check on guests, and bring out whatever was needed. But they clearly missed the mark on getting people seated. Left very disappointed.

Worst experience ever at a Clyde’s location. DO NOT order steak from them. The meat has zero flavor. Wine list was backwards - reds listed under the heading “Whites” and vice versa. Waiter was good but the support staff was ambivalent. This location reeks of poor management.

We had a lovely preValentine dinner at the downstairs Racebar area, which we found to be quiet and cozy. The service was great, but as the bar got busier, our server did his best but was overbooked. I had a delicious filet steak and my husband enjoyed the steak frites. Half price wine night was a great bargain as well!

Food was great but service could have been better. It is clear that the server is not used to having many tables. She could barely keep up. As much as I want to blame her, our experience was clearly a failure in leadership. Maître d'hôtel should have recognized and provided help since three other tables in our section felt the same way.

Terrible food, and slow service. I ordered the wild catfish sandwich and it was bland and soggy...I sent it back. The manager did come over to apologize and ask what the issue was. He also offered me another dish, and when I told him I didn't have time to wait for something else he said "at least have some soup, I don't want you leaving here hungry." That was an awesome gesture. I had the crab soup, which was pretty good. Besides him, the service was just okay. Our server took a long time to get simple things like straws. My daughter had the burger sliders and she didn't like it, my cousin had a cheeseburger which was okay...she said the bacon made it okay.

Never a dull moment or meal at Clyde's. Enjoyed two expertly crafted dry, dry, dry grey goose vodka martinis. Excellent green salad with hummus, phenomenal salmon burger. The waiter was cordial, timely any easy to converse with. The facility is always clean and family friendly.

This was the second time that I have tried to use my $100.00 birthday gift certificate and had trouble........I (we) have eaten at Clyde's often since it opened long ago (I have always looked on it as an extension of my kitchen) but enough is enough........I have spoken to several managers, the bookkeeper, a vice president and that is all the time that I choose to devote to Clyde's at Chevy Chase.........there are plenty of other places to eat in the neighborhood.........the food the other night was mediocre and the service over the past year has not been good.........do you know how long it takes to get a drink? Also not as crowded as it used to be which tells me something.

We have gone to this Clyde's for decades. Unfortunately, we were unimpressed when we decided to take my mother-in-law there for her 93rd birthday brunch, the occasion being noted on my open table reservation. The service was abysmal. My son's place setting did not include a coffee spoon and when the waitress brought him coffee with cream, she failed to notice that he was using his knife to stir. She also walked by the entire table to the far end, failed to notice that two members of the party had not been served their entrees, and then perfunctorily asked if we were enjoying our meal. Totally oblivious or aloof, as my son described her. Not up to Clyde's service standards. She also failed to carry out my son's order of the french dip sandwich without cheese; an allergy that is dangerous for him. The food was also less than delicious. I understand that it was a big party, but the restaurant does employ a back waiter system to coordinate receipt of food to arrive hot. My waffle arrived cold, the bacon tasted like it had been cooked two days ago, and the butter was tainted with an onion taste as if it had been re-used. My husband and son enjoyed the shrimp and grits dish they ordered. My mother-in-law's eggs benedict was quite delayed, but at least they disclosed that the eggs had broken, so that the cook had to redo the order. When it came time for the birthday celebration, the waitress told us that my mother-in-law could have chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. The cake arrived without the ice cream.
The space is comfortable and we have had plenty of good meals and made good memories at Clyde's of Chevy Chase. This was not one of those times.

Very nice setting, a menu that suited our group with varied tastes, and lively but quiet enough that we could talk. We were very pleased with the quality of the food. Our server had to be reminded several times of pretty basic things (e.g. to refill our water glasses) but he was perfectly pleasant, just distracted. We'll go there again.

Love going to Clydes, but somehow this time, even though we had a reservation, we had to wait over 15+ min to be seated. Then had to wait for a bit for waiter to arrive. Lacked the usual personal touch. Will go to Georgetown or Rockville next time

Our experience was not the best. Although we had a reservation, and there were many empty tables, we had to wait for almost half an hour to be seated. Our waiter was inattentive. He took our order and one of our appetizers came out. After a very long wait, I flagged him down and asked him to please check on our food. Shortly after, our entrees appeared. We never got our appetizers. The food was fine, but I had asked for steamed vegetables, and I got very greasy Brussels sprouts. The manager did come over and offer a cursory apology, but the fact is that nobody really seemed to care. I have no plans to return, even though I live in the neighborhood.

Have been to this Clyde's at the Chevy Chase location for quite a number of years and always have found it to be reliable, enjoyable and convenient to get in/out of, but not this time! First of all, due to all the surrounding construction materials, e.g., fencing/debris, etc. limiting above-ground parking, there were no available spaces when my friend and I arrived, so we had to use the garage, which is more than a little disorienting the way it is laid out, and by the time we found a space, parked and arrived at the restaurant, we probably were at least 10-15 minutes late, and the minute we walked in, I couldn't help noticing how noisy it was! In addition, my food was mediocre, and since I was treating my friend, I didn't ask about hers--nor did she say one way or the other whether she enjoyed it or not. The service was efficient/fine; however, I'll be waiting until construction is completed before returning to Clyde's of Chevy Chase.

Rolls, presented at the beginning of our visit were warm and tasty- an excellent prelude before the dinner were served. Two of the three guests ordered the prime rib featured on the menu. The prime rib was a big hit--- crusty on the edges, juicy internally and the comments of the two beef diners were all positive. The "au jus" added a perfect touch. The new pastry chef also performed well--the desserts were all big hits. We'll return soon to enjoy another wonderful meal.

We were seated next to a large party which was a little loud and we had a couple of older relatives that were trying to hold a conversation so the noise level made it a little uncomfortable. In addition the group was standing around entering our personal space so it was a little close for comfort.

I didn’t enjoy my dish but everyone else liked theirs. I have been there a lot and the food is usually enjoyable.

Most of this most experience at Clyde's was good and as expected, but once again, the front of the house was a misery (2nd time this month, and one of the bunch was entirely recognizable thanks to the over-the-top makeup look - think The Joker with false eyelashes). A flock of hostesses (all women) were at the desk, all rude, cold, unhelpful, and disorganized. We bothered with a reservation because one of us was just off a much-delayed flight from Europe and exhausted, and we just wanted to get a bite to eat efficiently and crash. But efficient this wasn't. None of them seemed to care or check on a reservation, and at least 4 other parties of 2, 3 of which I'm dead sure were walk-ins (easy to overhear) were seated before us. Would it kill any of them to smile and/or do their job properly? When I inquired I got a curt answer and a dirty look for my trouble. The drinks and food were OK but the start left a bad taste in the mouth from the get-go.
