Service and menu were less than the norm. It was no crowded so that was not the issue. Just not their best night.

Always appreciate the staff concern for my salt-free diet. Substitution requests are honored without resistance.

We were a group of four and each enjoyed our dinner. Our waiter was a delightful young woman. Clyde's always has a menu that offers something for everyone. A good neighborhood restaurant.

Very serviceable neighborhood restaurant with a menu that has something for everybody. And they are happy to modify dishes for finicky eaters or those on special diets.

The crab cake wasn’t up to Clyde’s usual high standard, and the lunchtime server for our group of 5 disappeared for long periods. Hopefully, this was an aberration, since our group of friends are regulars here. The atmosphere is great, and food and service are usually excellent.

Our dining experience was great. We were there to celebrate my mom's birthday and our server was absolutely fantastic. She addressed my gluten allergy situation and was very kind and helpful.

Having "generational groups," i.e. elders and young'uns, is a challenge at most eateries. However, Clyde's can accommodate large groups easily. It is a joy to see the large groups, having the option to order most anything and making everyone happy. I love Clyde's.

The food was good to very good - it was spoiled by the service. The lack of attention was made even worse by the waitress's determination to give us the check before we were done eating. The restaurant was not even half full - there was no reason to rush us on a Holiday weekend - the waitress just wanted to dump her responsibility.

Overall, a disappointing experience. Nice staff, pleasantly decorated environment w/ lots of vintage posters, car models, & various collectables, decent prices, but the food is seriously lacking, esp. considering that Clyde's belongs to the same family of restaurants as 1789 & Old Ebbit Grill.

The lobster special was fine: decent price; a side salad was a permissible substitution for the usual French fries, but the lobster Shepherd's pie was seriously lacking in both lobster & taste. The flash fried trout Parmesan was so tasteless that we watched a dinner companion try to liven it up by pouring vinaigrette over it to create some flavor. If we came again we'd just opt for burgers.

The dessert menu touted a "Chocolate cake layered w/ chocolate ganache & salted caramel sauce topped w/ ice cream" but which arrived as a sad-looking slab of cake more suited to a high school cafeteria, layered w/ a tasteless "chocolate" filling which bore more resemblance in texture and flavor to hardened modeling clay than actual ganache. The dessert came w/ a requested dollop of whipped cream & the ice cream on the side, but sans the salted caramel sauce described on the menu; it required 2 requests to 2 different waiters (our own, & after an interminable wait, another server who passed by our table) before it finally arrived. A request for a cup of "really hot coffee" was also forgotten until more than 10 minutes later when a 2nd request for the same "hot coffee" was made.

The music in the downstairs seemed pleasant enough but we noticed that all the bar stools in the bar area were 100% hard, unforgiving wood - not a scrap of padding or a barstool w/ a back anywhere to be seen. I doubt we'd recommend others visit the downstairs bar in the hopes of hearing live music unless they enjoy the prospect of 2-3 hours perched on bargain-basement bar stools that do nothing to create comfort or encourage patrons to stay and keep ordering either food or drink from the Clyde's menu.

Very disappointing. Just keeps going downhill. (But we did have an efficient engaging waiter this time.) Been dining here since the day it opened as it’s minutes from me and it used to be a terrific neighborhood “go to” bar and grill.....what happened? A half pound lobster...I didn’t know they were legal. Tasteless soggy Caesar salad and salmon. Please...the food is an insult. Do better or close it down to make way for a good neighborhood bar and grill....badly needed now in Friendship Heights (it used to be Clyde’s)!

Another excellent performance by the waitstaff and hosting crew for Thanksgiving at Clyde's. Well prepared and generous portions of classic comfort food (turkey with all trimmings), as well as inspired alternate choices choices like lobster shepherds pie and numerous fish dishes. Clyde's does a great job of graciously managing the bustling holiday crowds and serving up excellent comfort food that have made this a holiday tradition for our family.

It was Thanksgiving. We had a reservation for 6:30 PM and arrived at 6:15 PM. I checked with the hostesses and was told that we'd be seated ASAP. We saw many people being called and seated that came after me. I approached the hostess table again to make sure that they have my name on the list they have only to be told curtly that I had to wait. After waiting for 45 minutes total I went up again and clearly she DID NOT put my name of the list. After that, they showed us our seat as soon as the next table was available. For me, that's still unacceptable. It is very embarrassing for me because I was the one that was responsible to arrange our outing and all my guests were visibly upset and thought I was incompetent.
The food was good and our server was nice. Still, I don't think I will come back again.

I always enjoy this particular location of Clyde's. The menu is excellent ad the ambiance is conducive to almost anything.

This last Thanksgiving day I had rather unpleasant experience with the young lady who seated us.
I made my reservation 2 weeks prior to Thanksgiving. We were seated at a table on which the sun was blaring. We sat but I was very uncomfortable. I asked her if we might have another table and she said, with an arrogant attitude, "we're very busy".I then asked to see the maitre d and she moved us, begrudgingly, to another table.

I regret that I did not say anything that day. I did not need to feel bad about asking for comfort. comfortable. Unlike everyone else at Clyde's, this young woman needs a lesson in graciousness.

Otherwise, everything was, as always - wonderful.

Thanksgiving Dinner at Clyde's was perfect. Place was busy, but we were seated quickly.
We both ordered the traditional holiday meal, and it was served to us in minutes. Ample portion of turkey, done up just right. Stuffing, sweet potatoes and green beans were outstanding. Topped off by pumpkin pie. Nobody left hungry, and many folks brought food home with them. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. Clyde's is always a solid choice, and on this day, it was the perfect choice.

We made reservations for 8pm yet waited for a table in a 1/2 empty restaurant behind 4 other parties. We were seated aside a table of 12 noisy 13 year old girls who’s parents were seated far away in a different section of the dining room. When the server approached, he knew without a conversation that we should be moved due to the extreme noise level and reseated is in a closed section of the dining room. He was supposed to clock out but couldn’t find another server to help us so he stayed. The manager walked by our booth several times but made no eye contact. The food was delicious, our server was great, but the management of that shift was terrible. Perhaps the manager was under cost pressure to make his numbers for the month. Clyde’s should be careful about this. Even great food can’t rescue an experience like ours.

Always dependable for lunch or dinner. Part of the Clyde's group, but essentially our neighborhood staple. Monthly specials are always great, but where else can you get meatloaf or calf’s liver? Good old comfort food. And it’s great value for money. Also, kids, big and small, love to watch the train run around the track overhead, and the ship models are wonderful. Keep up the good work Clyde’s.

Clyde's is a reliable standby for good food in a comfortable, classy and quiet environment. They do a good job with their recipes, changing some things according to the season. The service is always good and the tables & booths are well spaced, leaving diners a good chance to talk as well as eat.
