Clyde's of Chevy Chase
Executive Chef Jake Lydon
spinach, watercress, Pernod, Parmesan, breadcrumbs
french fries, coleslaw, tarter sauce, lemon
We had brunch. One of us wanted an omelet that wasn't part of the meal.. Our server (who was outstanding) said sure, she'd talk to the chef, and sure enough the change was made. The breakfast potatos were BY FAR the best I've ever had.
You simply can't go wrong with Clyde's. And they validate parking.
Portions at this specific Clydes have gotten a lot smaller.
Brunch Menu offers lots of variety. Pricing very reasonable. Unfortunately service was very slow on Sunday.
Great setting and the service is good. Food was a bit better last visit but always a solid choice for location and the ability to eat outside with not a lot of traffic.
The medium well burger was barely grilled at all; the eggs for the Eggs
Benedict were fried and the English
muffin almost untoasted. Our server
did her best but the food took a long time to arrive. Clydes doesn’t seem to be ready for customers right now.
Clyde's continues to provide consistently delicious, well-prepared food in a pleasant environment with friendly and attentive staff. It's always a pleasure to dine there.
We had a nice visit. Service was a bit slow (although it was 3.30pm so not very full), but friendly. Food was great!
Clyde’s lived up to it’s high standards and reputation for a birthday dinner. Bronzino was delicious and shrimp cakes were meaty.
Good food and good service, and the outdoor seating is great under the huge tent when the summer sun is beating down.
Clydes is a life long favorite and the Chevy Chase edition is a great layout. Outdoors is very nice.
I ordered a salad with added grilled chicken and a diet coke. The greens were wilted and the chicken overcooked. Good service although diet coke was never replenished.
Birthday food and atmosphere was amazing
Sautéed cod dish was extremely salty…
Service was attentive, prompt, and courteous. As usual, the food was excellent. The crab artichoke dip is classic; the fish dishes are tasty and varied; and the steak frites and French fries are wonderful. We really like the outdoor dining option, and we hope that it will continue indefinitely. Clyde’s has joined Silver and Acacia as our neighborhood favorites —
combining great food with superb service in a pleasing outdoor environment.
Excellent salmon. Summer tomato salad was a bit disappointing as one of the tomatoes was not ripe.
We had an elderly friend who was celebrating a birthday and our server was very attentive, offering a free cake dessert as soon as she heard about the occasion. This was a very nice gesture that was appreciated by us all.
The shrimp linguine was excellent and the service was top notch. I don't recommend the Bailey's Cheesecake. It was very dry.
Not crowded and service was excellent. The plexiglass in between the booths is so nice bc it makes it feel more private. I hope Clydes doesn’t take them out ever.
Food was good. Service was competent. Waitress was annoying and at the end of the meal, she wasn't available to give me the bill. She got the dessert wrong for one of us. However, she was pleasant. The salmon was great!
Got seated in the middle of a waitress shift change so the food was a little slow coming out
I am a dedicated long-term fan of Clyde’s at 5 locations. This was my worst experience ever! The place was at maybe 50% capacity. Poor table service…very slow. Food portions unusually smaller this time. Overpriced. I will give them the benefit of the doubt with the covid situation going on. I think it is best that I wait a while before i return in order to give them time to get back on track.
Kathy was a great server! The food was delicious!! Always a pleasure to come to Clyde’s Chevy Chase!
Service and food excellent.
Seemed like menu had limited options for lunch. Was hard to find something I wanted to eat, but what I did eat was very good.
I love Clydes and it is my go-to place for a date. My salad was drowning in dressing but I consider that my fault as I should have asked for it on the side. Most of my experiences here have been wow and this one was just "meh" Not sure why but I will be back.
Food and service were very good. The fact that there was a mouse (or several mice?) running around the patio all evening was very disturbing
The artichoke crab dip was delicious as was the heirloom tomato salad that I added salmon to. Asked for the salmon to be cooked medium rare and it was perfect. Garrett was an attentive server while not disturbing our conversation. They validated parking. All around great experience!
Would have preferred a vinegar other than balsamic. But overall very good and appreciated being able to reserve outdoor dining
Clyde's is my every-day local restaurant and a place that never fails to meet my expectations.
Yesterday's lunch was exceptionally good. I ordered the shimp cake--a substitute for the more common crab version, crabs being in short supply these days--and loved it! (I actually preferred it to the original!) And the idea of serving it with a good hollandaise is brilliant. I also love the fact that Clyde's allows modest substitutions, so that instead of french fries I was able to get a delicious plate of green beans. As always, the noise level, which is vigorous, was outweighed by the spaciousness of the room and the comfort of our booth.
Altogether, Clyde's is a wonderful, and always dependable, restaurant.
Waitress was really nice— I think her name was Kathy. The food was okay. I feel like it’s somewhat overpriced for what you get. Bubbly we got was good and price was good.
We had a great time last night. Very friendly server, very helpful.
Food all good. One said his salmon was slight too well done, but he had not
asked for any particular level of doneness.
My branzino was wonderful.
I had a cocktail that I would not recommend or have again. Just not enough taste.
It was the GEorge and Amal.
This is a great place for brunch on Sunday or for any other time. Food is routinely well prepared, prices are quite fair, and the setting is terrific.
The dinner was excellent...I had the linguini with shrimp, and the sauce was so delicious...
Our waiter couldn't have been more helpful or polite...We really appreciated the good service and delicious food we had at Clydes Chevy Chase last night!
We will be going back!
Well the food was great but service very slow. Jaqeline did all she could but they had her with at least five tables. One other table was horrible and loud and made event poor for everyone
Reliable standards, generous portions, pleasant service. Loved being able to make a reservation to dine outside.
Great food and service!
Our server, Jay, was great. He was personable and attentive and a pleasure to have him as our server. He is a solid example of what customer service is about - kudos to him. Food was terrific as always. Rerstuarant was well staffed and all employees were extremely hospitable.
We ate outside, at a table with an umbrella, away from the larger outdoor section. It was comfortable and less noisy. Our server was excellent - very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the cod, BLT, Cesar salad, panko zucchini coins. The watermelon gazpacho was so so.
Clydes is always reliable and enjoyable.
Clyde's Chevy Chase has always been a reliable standby, especially being able to sit outside all these long covid months. And for that reason I hate to write anything negative.
However, our dinner last night outside was managed pretty badly. Waitstaff overburdened (long waits for checking in with us, time to get simple drink orders from the bar to the table, not trained to take dirty dishes away), and then while my baconburger was tasty, it wasn't fresh from the grill, and our french fries tasted like they had been sitting in the open air for half an hour. After we expressed our dismay, the manager did come graciously over and replaced the french fries immediately. But, I'm afraid Clyde's is suffering from post-covid trauma, like many other restaurants (that is, if they have been able to stay open!)
We had a nice family brunch and the food overall was quite good. One order was not entered correctly but the server quickly fixed the issue. Very friendly service.
Enjoyed the brunch. I wish you had some of the brunch choices at a weekday lunch.
