Clyde's of Chevy Chase
Always a good experience.
The crab and artichoke dip is a wonderful way to start a meal.
The trout Parmesan is an all-time favorite of mine, and Clyde’s never disappoints.
We were downstairs in the lower level. Our waiter was really really slow. And the restaurant was not very busy. He would spend way too long standing and chatting at the tables with the few customers that were there. Friendly is one thing. Gabbing too long is something else. I have waited on tables in my lifetime. Servers need to pay attention to what is going on around them.
The food was excellent. The service was not as good as Tower Oaks. Big probelm: no tissue in the women's bathroom, which the ladies rightly found unacceptable..
Had to make simple request multiple times.
Very good chicken piccata — good service and we got a quiet table at the end of the restaurant once we asked for it—
Server never came over to see if I needed anything after my meal was served.
Kitchen was really loud and our waiter was not very attentive.
Definitely a step below what we are used to here.
Food and service was excellent. Our waiter, Christian, did an outstanding job!
...an enjoyable evening.
Still need to improve timeliness of service...it has been slow the last several times we were there
The food was quite good—as usual, but the wine was marginal. We selected a Clyde’s label Cabernet-which we have had before—but the latest version was too fruity for a Cab, was thin and lacked character. It tasted as if Clyde’s had bought Two Buck Chuck and put it’s name on the bottle.
Love the interior. Also love that they validate parking. If they didn't, I probably wouldn't go. Great Oysters! Liked the Pink Moon best.
Still good prices, the best cream of crab soup, remarkable burgers and a reasonable menu.
On this trip, service was disappointing. Our waiter, Christian, made a good first impression and then immediately forgot half of our drink orders and forgot to bring bread. He mis-entered two of our entree orders and brought a comparable dish instead (a full salmon entree instead of a salmon burger and no bun, sauce or condiments for a crab cake sandwich). His offer for two free deserts in lieu seemed forced, and rather lame since we had told him we were having desert elsewhere. Eventually, after a half hour wait he got back to us and adjusted the price of the salmon entree to that of the burger. Towards the end he announced he was new and apologized.
That said, the kitchen did a good job and the meals were well prepared.
Great atmosphere - architect Rick Andrews is still missed - but the displays are beginning to show significant dust and are falling into disrepair.
Very pleasant as usual.
Birthday. I love clydes. Everything there will is good and the atmosphere is fun yet elegant.
Unfortunately the quality of the food has slipped. Crabcakes needed some crab.
Burgers and crab cakes excellent. Stella on Tap is a DC tradtion.
The foods are good but service tends to be very slow.
Crab cake was tiny so could not really enjoy the taste, whatever it was.
Room was too cold with a/c going full-blast when it was cooling off outside.
Rest of experience was good.
Our server was over sat and not well trained. So we were neglected. He did not offer the specials of the day nor your Sunday brunch $5 mimosas. Never came around with the coffee pot for refills. We needed to motion for his attention for coffee refill as he then approached another table causing for a longer delay. On the way out the manager was approved and offered amends. Very disappointing but would return when back in town.
New ownership has not changed the operation...yet
Always the best for date night! The gentleman's hamburger was a little over-cooked. He likes burgers 'rare'! My lobster dish at a previous Saturday night..... delicious! My frites and steak....EXCELLENT!
A horrible experience at Clyde's, made worse by a totally inept server who seemed not to know much about how to do his job and a manager who was equally ineffective. The food took forever to arrive (despite a 5 PM reservation and a nearly empty restaurant) and wasn't great once it did, and we were over billed for items we didn't even order, including a meal that was sent back (twice) and a side salad no one ordered. The waiter actually had the nerve to claim the extra salad was added because I had to ask twice for the salad dressing I requested when placing my order, and in order to bring me the dressing, he had to add in an extra salad to our bill. When questioned about this, he claimed this was "how they did it" when they forget to bring the dressing but that he had planned to remove the extra charge. Yeah, right! Had we not checked the bill before handing over our credit card I have no doubt he would have charged it both for the returned meal and the extra salad no one ordered. The manager seemed clueless and totally indifferent to the entire situation. Get it together, Clyde's. I know you're a chain and perhaps no longer care about quality service because you have a large enough clientele not to be concerned if you turn off a few people, but this is just ridiculous, and unacceptable.
Always consistent. Always good value. And it's great food and drink(s) 🍸 served by friendly people 🍀 to have such a great local chain
I went for onion soup and they were out so I left. I wish I didn’t have to leave but got the onion soup at Clyde’s Mark Center instead.
The food quality has gone down the last 12 months. I can't tell if its the kitchen staff or the quality of the ingredients. My dinning partner had the butternut squash not stated on the menu as an ingredient. Very unbalanced favor of the sauce
I had clams casino linguine. The little neck steamed clams were place on top of the linguine with bacon bites (that should have been on the clams with the celery and panko and under the broiler) place the bacon in the middle of the linguine; it was a "make your own" clams casino presentation. The sauce had very little taste. We both took them home thinking we could "doctor them up" the next day; but they couldn't be saved.
Lastly the hostess that seated us was not at all friendly; the waitress was just going through the motions. Not once did she ask how were our dinners.
The B team was definitely on duty in the front of the house and back of the house on Sunday night.
Clyde's of Chevy Chase is off the list of places to go.
The four of us got sandwiches, one french dip, one beef burger, a salmon burger and lamb burger. All meals were made perfectly not overcooked and salads were fresh and tasty. Christian was attentive and refilled drinks as needed. Overall a lovely evening.
I was with a group of ten and we had a fantastic time and good food. The service was sow but I think that is only because she might have been new (and a little overwhelmed). I have been to Clyde's many times and the food and atmosphere do not disappoint.
We had the lobster special..excellent value and perfectly cooked.
Our supper club met on a Saturday evening at Clyde's of Chevy Chase and the entire experience was outstanding! The staff was very flexible when they learned that only 6 of the 10 people who has RSVPed would attend. Not only was the food good and affordable, but the atmosphere was conducive to great fellowship. In addition, the garage parking was validated which is another reason why we chose this venue. On this night, one celebrity guest in the restaurant felt so comfortable that they approached our table and sat down for a short visit. It was a wonderful night to remember.
My group was very happy with the service and the food. My friend visiting from Paris was especially happy because Clyde’s was as good as he remembered it .
It can be hit or miss with service and wait times, but food is always good! Today we had excellent and timely service!
Excellent Lunch Reunion with Friends. Victor the maitre d especially provided wonderful service.
Great, as always.
Great service, great food.
Tyler, from Florida and Liberty University, was an excellent waiter. Great guy, great suggestions.
The lobster pot pie was excellent, as always. It was even pretty, as the chef did the potatoes in a unique pattern. I love the fact that Clyde's does lobster specials in September and October. Great price, great food.
Slow service. All else was great.
Went for the lobster special...third time.
October’s lobster special (shepherd’s pie, in my case) was excellent and delicious. The Monday night half-price-wine deal adds to the enjoyment.
No acknowledgement of occasion that it was booked for and waiter kept overfilling wine canister with water and mopping water off the table. Got water on one of guest’S iPhone.
We had the Steakfrites and they were heavenly ! The sauce was the best I ever had in my long life as a gourmet !
My husband, however, found the crabcake a bit bland. We’ll come back for more Steakfrites.
Service and ambiance made us feel welcome and important - necessary for full enjoyment. We had lived in the Northwest for 13 years after living in D.C. for decades, when we had often gone to Clyde’s and so Clyde’s was our first choice again and we were happy to see that it had maintained its standard.
YES, we will be back and I will recommend it to all my friends! Thanks for a great experience!
