Clyde's of Chevy Chase
We know it is no fun to wear a mask while enjoying a night out, but our staff's safety is no laughing matter.
We require all guests to wear a mask while moving about the restaurant, and when speaking to Clyde's employees.
Masks have been a hot topic, with passionate views on all sides. With our team and their families' health at stake, we must err on the side of caution. We hope you will understand and look forward to the day, hopefully soon, when we can all throw our masks in the trash.
Guest Temperature Checks are required upon entry.

The patio seating was quite nice. Tables are well spaced, plenty of umbrellas. And, our tables did not jiggle, they dat solidly.
Always a good experience! Glad they made the Bronzino a menu staple!!
Reliable, standby place to go. Something for all tastes.
Our food was good and so was the service. There was no problem with the noise level.
The service was exceptional. The waiter kind. The food was very good. My girlfriend enjoyed herself too. I will return
We ate outside on the patio for lunch and it could not have been more pleasant, As always, the food and service were excellent, but the fresh air and the view were added treats.
My order came out wrong, and had to be redone.
It was not timely, and I ended up taking my lunch with me to eat later.
The waiter was very accommodating, but, the mistake was made in the kitchen.
Service was terrible. Burgers were not cooked to our liking.
The crab cakes were superb as always. Great Boulevardie too
Horrible food. Garden salad w chicken that had no taste. Outdoor Tables too close for comfort in COVID environment. Wait staff overworked & not attentive. Pricey. After a yr of quarantine, looked forward to yesterday lunch. Huge disappointment. Clyde’s in DC was an institution. With sale two years ago, it’s no longer a good dining experience. Won’t go back.
Great & safe family dinner
The staff could not have been nicer, very friendly and polite, and the good waa very good, but the management needs to do a much better job of overseeing the timing of how ordered items are served.
-our cocktails did not arrive until halfway through dinner
-there were 4 of us, but one of us was served dinner 20 minutes after the other three
- we asked for ice water as soon as we were seated - it did nothing arrive for at least 25 minutes
-one of us asked for an unusual entree: a Turkey sandwich served without bread - just Turkey o a plate with broccoli. He was served a regular Turkey sandwich, his request ignored
- in all dinner was a very very long time in coming with no ice water, and no cocktails, no bread during the long wait.
- be sure to remember however that our waiter waa very nice and we liked him a lot
We ate outside. The food was good. My party ordered Steak Frite, Seared Cod and two burgers.
Our server was professional, courteous and friendly. All the staff was masked. We got our temperature checked.
All in all, a very pleasant dining experience.
I was surprised by the noise level in the outdoor tented area. I hope the tents will be taken down when the weather is 70 degrees and warmer.
Everyone enjoyed their lunches.
Fried chicken cob was great as were the chili and Rubin. Service started a bit slow but was then attentive.
Daughters 34th bday celebration first time in a year.
Waited 2 hours for the order to be incorrect. Service was not attentive at all and was extremely bad experience .
We were running late and glad they held our table. Hostess stand well staffed and pleasant. Assistant manager was helpful and took drink order and was friendly. Our waitress must have been new and inexperienced. Looking forward to having the full menu back!
Always enjoyable! Our waiter was a bit rushed and didn’t refill water or ask if we wanted coffee but other than that it was a nice place to catch up with friends. The food is always good at Clyde’s.
Clyde’s is very accommodating during the pandemic. Outdoor seating is made comfortable with heaters and wind blocks in any weather. Meeting up with an old friend, we were welcome to eat and drink tea for a full two hours. Parking is easy and validated
Outside and the weather was nice!
Food is very good , outside seating is very well done.
Great service and great food as always !!! Crab cakes are a YES!!!
We sat outside and the service was very slow, but we weren’t in a rush so it didn’t bother us too much. Food was great. When we did see our server, she was very nice and addressed whatever we needed.
I have been to the Clyde’s in Rockville and loved it, so was thinking to try out another Clyde’s in the DMV area. Despite its low ratings, Clyde’s once again exceeded their expectations on their food quality. The host was great and accommodating to my seating requests and everyone was practicing social distancing for COVID.
I ordered the Pan Seared Cod (no picture), because it was so good that I took a bite already, and didn’t take a picture. The cod topped with green curry and white rice was delicious. My friend ordered the Grilled Branzino, also tasty, and seafood was fresh.
The only thing is our waiter was a bit slow on their service and had to request for water and bread several times, just felt a bit left out by our server, but overall it was still a good experience.
Good spot. A family favorite.
Clyde's is so reliable in terms of food and service. It's basic American, but always tasty and well presented. The restaurant has done a good job with expanding outdoor space in response to the pandemic.
We were in the neighborhood for a quick bite and decided to stop by Clydes. We ordered two cappuccino and light appetizers. It had taken 30 minutes to bring out the drinks which were shortly followed by cold chili.
All in all, it wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad.
I had crab soup, a burger w/ cheddar cheese, and a small Ceasar salad. Burger & salad were good. Soup was delicious, but not hot enough. Service was OK, but nothing outstanding. Ambiance was OK because the restaurant was almost empty in mid-afternoon when I was there. Past experiences with this Clyde's has not been as good. We had to send back a few dishes, and were disappointed. If you pick and choose your items carefully, it can be a good meal.
Clyde's has been my "go to" restaurant for years, and though often noisy, my friends and I have been able to cope, We book ahead of the crowd, and try to sit close to a wall.
Last Saturday, however, the sound was too much for even those methods. Despite a 5:30pm reservation and a table off to the side, we were blasted by wave after wave of sound. Part of the problem was that we chose to sit inside the tent, which seems to capture--and amplify-- the sound. Part was that the restaurant was full of children. Of course, that's great for families, but not for grownups looking for quiet conversation. If you're one of the latter, then my advice is to go on a weekday evening and sit OUTSIDE the tend!
(Other than that, the food and drinks were wonderful, and the service great!)
very large group of very loud patrons made the noise level unacceptable.
Normally we love Clyde’s, but this visit wasn’t so good. We were there for a special occasion , indicated on the reservation , but that wasn’t acknowledged at all. Instead, it took half an hour to get drinks, the entrees came while we were still eating appetizers, and then the server brought the check without asking if we wanted dessert. It was a big birthday for my husband; we were disappointed.
Nice selections with good variety for lunch. Drinks are a little pricey. Maitre d could have been little friendlier, no welcoming smile.
For health reasons, we had asked to be seated outside but didn’t think about the fact that we would be under a tent. Tents make noise levels much worse and all 4 of us have hearing aids, which meant we had to speak very loudly to be able to converse. My husband could hear only for 40% of what was being said, the service was slow, and the food OK but not more than that. So we were pretty disappointed.
Food and service excellent, as always!
The roast beef sandwich was not good... meat too well done and tasteless. The olives and pickles was an odd choice and left me disappointed. My family seemed happy with their meals, though.
The Clyde's group has adapted well to be a safe, distanced, and tracing establishment. They have spent a LOT of money for plexiglass mitigation in dinning room and bar. They have also invested in a very appropriate tenting outside with the standing heaters when needed. Every member is helpful and friendly. We feel completely safe dining here and will increase our patronage to assist the wait, kitchen, and busing staff!
Excellent brunch for Easter Sunday. Food was delicious, seated immediately at reservation time. Would go back any time!
A very pleasant lunch, on a gloomy rainy day.
Our waitress went out of her way in all aspects of service.
Ordered the Beef Stroganoff. The waiter heard me explain to my dining partner that mushrooms are great anti-oxidants and offered to have the chef add a few extra mushrooms to my order. A classy gesture...at no extra charge!
