Clyde's of Chevy Chase
Food was running late, which wasn’t a problem for us, but our waiter gave us cocktails on the house as an apology for the slow service!
The restaurant week offerings were a bit disappointing. Small portions, not many choices. I won't go there again for restaurant week, but the regular menu is always good and worthwhile.
Tasting menu was excellent.
The food was good, but not great. The server was far too preoccupied with the table of young ladies to be bothered to bring us our water. We were seated next to the door, despite tons of open tables, so I was freezing the entire time. Just meh over all. Restaurant week menu is two options, and cost about the same as their regular menu. Not worth RW, not worth non-RW.
Was there for a Sunday brunch, with just 3 of us at the table. Food was fine. Server never came back with the requested extra maple syrup. Towards end of our meal, a group of about 12 was seated next to us. They are very loud and boisterous. We had to hurry up and leave. The table behind us had just sat down and asked to be re-seated.
Dinner was good as usual. It was more of a quiet evening as there were fewer guests having dinner. The service was mediocre this trip. The same server we had in the past was our server again. She could be more friendly like other servers we have experienced. Since there were fewer guests having dinner, there was only one area where customers were being seated on a Saturday evening. Ambiance is always a treat!
Very pleasant . Excellent service . Food good .
I often come the Chevy Chase Clydes. The restaurant was absolutely off on Saturday evening, Jan 11th. Our server was lovely, however, we waited a long time for everything from wine to mail course. Another party of four next to us also was upset that the wait time was so long. It had to be a shortage of staff in kitchen and bar as this is not typical of Clydes. I had the steak salad and it steak was terrible tasting and tough. Very disappointing meal at a restaurant which we usually enjoy for variety on menu.
We were a visiting group to DC and it was really perfect. It was also one block from our hotel which made it easy.
Clyde's is one of my favorite restaurants. Until Friday, Jan 10, I had never had a bad experience in over 20 years of going to Clyde's. However, Friday, although our waiter, Alex apologized several times for the delay, the bottom line is that we waited over an hour for our food. We were never served any bread, nor asked if we wanted any. The clams casino pasta came without any sauce which we had to request. On the other hand, I was able to get my Calamari cooked the way I wanted it - sauteed, not fried - and I was able to get just some walnut pecan bread for dessert, for which I was not charged. One bad experience in over 20 years is not going to change my feelings about Clyde's, but thought you should know about the eperience.
Dinner very tasty - service attentive
It’s not easy to find a restaurant where you can have a quiet conversation with family despite a completely full dining room. The ambiance was great! Food was good and it was a great value. Unfortunately, the service was not good. We rarely saw our server. He asked if we would like some bread and butter. We said yes, but never received it. I ordered a glass of wine and it took 20 minutes to arrive. I and had to ask another server for a second glass of wine and water. We were never offered dessert. Everything else was fabulous. I only wish the service had been better.
We arrived at 4:35 a party of 7. It was not crowded. In fact near empty for at least 35 minutes. This was also about the time we met our waiter. He returned about 10 min later and we ordered our drinks. Service was extremely slow. Two people had roast beef and complained to the waiter, their were also complaints about the vegetables.I had oyster Rockefeller which was decent along with the crab cake dinner. Parking is validated for 21/2 hours. We were there almost 31/2 hours. We arrived in three vehicles. All tickets were validated at our departure. The first person arrived at the restaurant about 20min. early. She paid $2. I arrived at 4:30, I paid $0. The last arrival at 4:35 paid $7. Needless to say the machine did not give her a receipt and the attendant was not around.
Overall, I like Clyde,s but will not return to this location for awhile.
Great food, good variety on menu. Great service. Maine blue mussels were large, well cooked, tasty. All diners were happy. Loved the complimentary coffee cake on a Saturday.
Yes won’t order the tuna tartare appetizer again. It was too liquify and dropped all over my blouse. I hope it didn’t stain but it might.
An excellent and reliable restaurant. Great bar.
We decided to dine early in the day to accommodate my elderly mother, and the entire experience was wonderful. The restaurant was fairly quiet (she could hear everyone talk), the service was very attentive and burgers were delicious, as always!
Clyde's is my go-to choice when I want a good meal, without paying gourmet prices, in a lovely environment, with good service, with ease of access via public transportation or easy parking nearby. I always enjoy my visits there.
We went for a special dessert treat and drinks after the theater. The chocolate torte was good, however, the chocolate profiterole was VERY tough. It was the worst profiterole I have ever eaten anywhere. I actually needed a fork and knife to cut through the pastry. For such a classic dessert, this pastry chef deserves to be replaced or given another role in their kitchen. I will not go back here for dessert. As far as ambience, the restaurant was so cold that I along with other diners complained about the temperature. It felt like the air conditioning was on instead of the heat. Even drinking tea didn’t help the situation. With so many restaurants in Chevy Chase and Bethesda I recommend spending your time and your money someplace else.
New Year’s Eve with the kids
We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer and asked the waitress to bring it as soon as possible. Twenty minutes later we asked about it and it was clear she had forgotten it. Soon after that, our main dishes arrived. Still no calamari. Two of us ordered cassoulet. The dish as a whole was excessively salty and the duck was overdone and dry. I should have sent it back but by then, I had lost my appetite. Another person ordered the salmon and it too was overcooked. One person ordered the blackened catfish and said it was good. The calamari was eventually delivered and we weren't charged for it but that couldn't make up for an altogether bad experience.
even though we had a reservation we still had to wait for at least 10 parties of guest to be seated before us. It have dined at this location before being the NYE maybe that is why we had to wait to be seated. I felt our wait time was long but I did not notice the exact minutes because we had wonderful company with us.
The salmon burger was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. Tasted a bit smoky which was awesome. Steak frites were great as usual.
Food and service was outstanding. Always a great meal there.
This was not a great visit. They couldn’t find our booking but the host was really lovely about it. However, once seated our server seemed almost inconvenienced by us, taking a drink order before all guests were seated (we had a Senior citizen who a walked escorted and slowly) not taking an additional order when they did get seated, not offering water or bread, we didn’t have the right number of place settings, when the above was politely requested it was still incomplete. We were rushed to place food orders, and food came out oddly timed. The food which is normally quite good was extremely salty for some reason and I love salt, so that is saying something. About halfway through the meal, our server got slightly more interested in us and asked how things were and refilled a soda. We finished our food and declined dessert and left. We still tipped generously as everyone can have an off day. But overall disappointing and we would have ordered more alcohol and dessert but the experience was lacking so we opted not to do so.
Very good service considering it was New Year's Eve! Out of town guest enjoyed their dinner.
Food is good value. Restaurant ambiance is excellent. Location is good. Parking is validated.
Food is quite average. Good service, free parking and nice ambiance, but the basics are ordinary and the seafood prices (oysters) are too high.
We always enjoy Clyde's when looking for a place to eat in Chevy Chase. The food is uniformly good and fairly creative and the service and ambience are first rate.
The food at Clyde's is constantly tasty. It's our go-to for reasonably priced meals for ourselves and when we have visiting guests.
Celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary at Clyde’s with brunch. Everything was perfect! Olivia was an excellent server! The food was delicious!
We enjoyed our Saturday date night at Clyde's. We tried 'open table' which allows for guests to make a choice of where to be seated to dine but, that didn't work out. We were directed to a noisier section where the customers were celebrating a party. Dinner however, was enjoyable!
Thank you for asking!
We have had better food at the Rockville Tower Oaks Clydes.
The crab soup was more like cooked flour. The salmon itself was ok but the side was not good at all.
Clydes used to be dependably good. Now the quality of the food has declined and there is a smaller selection of items on the menu. Most disappointing as it used to be our favorite restaurant.
We go to the Clyde’s in Georgetown all the time and are never disappointed. It was nice to try this Clyde’s and receive the same, excellent service and food.
We eat here often. This nite twice my elderly parents hamburgers were undercooked.
Clyde's has been slipping of late, I'm afraid. The last two times I've been there, I've had to send back the meal because it wasn't hot. I'm a vegetarian and ordered the lentil burger, which was OK, but nothing great. I did have a falafel sandwich there in the past, which was delicious, but it wasn't on the current menu. The waiter brought bread but only 2 pieces and the heel--kinda skimpy--and even though he brought more, one wonders why he didn't bring enough to begin with. Well, not the end of the world, but not quite right either. There were other types of minor snafus, but they add up. The waiter apologized profusely for the slip-ups and was very nice throughout. The manager was very nice as well. A relatively "meh" experience.
Christmas Eve staff was understandably short staff elso no brunch menu. Appetizers were delicious crab beignets chicken tacos 🌮 oysters 🦪 Rockefeller’s cocktails 🍹 delicious! Entrees & dessert 🍮 delicious 😋
PAlways a nice place to gather with friends and family. Food selection is good and ambience very pleasant. Serves late by DC standards. This visit the service was slow, perhaps due to the holiday crush.
