Clyde's of Chevy Chase
Mask Usage
We know it is no fun to wear a mask while enjoying a night out, but our staff's safety is no laughing matter.
We require all guests to wear a mask while moving about the restaurant, and when speaking to Clyde's employees.
Masks have been a hot topic, with passionate views on all sides. With our team and their families' health at stake, we must err on the side of caution. We hope you will understand and look forward to the day, hopefully soon, when we can all throw our masks in the trash.
Guest Temperature Checks are required upon entry.

First time there. Food was amazing! The Steak Frites were BOMB! The vibe was relaxing and enjoyable. Definitely see myself going back there one day.
The martinis were great and wine list is just what the doctor ordered...complete yet not over-priced. Appetizer, crab dip with artichokes was a pleasant surprise. Branzino entre was tasty and well presented. Always good selections, fine food and great service at Clyde's
Disappointed in the food. I had the crab cake sandwich. Just not the same. For $19.99 could have been served on something other than a wrinkled plain old hamburger bun. Great fries. It was not crowded at all but still took 40 minutes to get our food. The outside space is great.
Clyde's is very consistent in quality, service and atmosphere. They do a good job of spacing and keeping patrons comfortable in these stressful times.
Great place to eat under the current conditions.
Patio dining with heat lamps. Great service.
My husband and I decided to celebrate Valentines Day at Clydes. It was their first day opened for inside dining and we were happy to be able to get a reservation. The staff was welcoming and the restaurant took the proper precautions. We were seated quickly and enjoyed our meal. Unfortunately they were out of the crab cakes and filet, but the substitutions were delicious. We can’t wait to go back.
Limited menu due to Covid I assume. Their specialty jumbo crabcakes was not available although it was one of item that was on the Limited menu. The service was awful. My husband and I ordered two brownie sundaes to go. The ago order was made fairly quickly. The bag with staple together. Once we got home the only thing in our bag with ice cream and the side toppings. We will never return here again.
I've been going to Clydes for years (like, 40) and never had a bad meal. This Valentines day was not exception. Crab cakes were top notch, as usual. My girl loved the Sea Bass. Table was a little closer to the kitchen then I like, but with Covid spacing, one couldn't really complain. Weather Clydes, The Hamilton, or the Ebbitt (menus are kinda similar) you'll get a great meal and service. I do have to give the service nod to the Ebbitt, but you can't go wrong either way.
Other than the long wait time We had a nice time food was great and the drinks on point.
Went for V Day. Got the steak frites and surf and turf with filet and crab cakes. Both were excellent!! Wine prices not bad.
Excellent as always. Food and service excellent!
The food was great and the ambiance was impeccable. At 3 pm seating, there were only two other tables in our area that were occupied.
Eating outside was a bit noisy, but soooo welcome in these times. Thank you for having stringent polies in place to keep us (customers), and your staff safe as well
Food was quite good and eating outside with the heaters wasn't actually cold! (It was icy and cold outside.)
We ate in their outdoor tent area which adhered to Covid social distancing. It was a cold, rainy day but the heat lamps were cozy. Excellent food and service!
Clyde’s offers 3-sided tent seating along with heat lamps for a cozy and safe dining experience. The food and the service are always a treat. Kudos!
Celebrated my boyfriend changing careers!
Very disappointed.
Our waitress forgot about me and my guest for over 30 minutes after ordering drinks. I finally had to get up to go find her as my guest still hadn't been served even water.
Food was underwhelming as well. Meatloaf was very plain tasting.
Great time. Very safe and clean. A nice friendly neighborhood spot.
Clyde's never disappoints. They serve my favorite hamburger on earth and the service is ALWAYS lovely. Clyde's is my go-to restaurant when I want exactly what I want. So glad they found a way to stay open.
Clydes is doing a great job keeping its customers safe.
I understand the difficulty inherent in putting together a high calibre menu in these troubled times. You've all done a good job considering what you've got to work with. But that still does not make the food good or make it stand out to make a special, evening. The service was good and friendly. We would have appreciated a safer environment not so closed up. It was warm and cozy inside, but we would hav e felt better sacrificing warm comfort for more safety. A closed tent is too dangerous.
We will be back many times, but expect better all around performance when normalcy is restored.
Clyde's has managed to set up a nice patio area with heaters that made it perfect for a safer way to enjoy a restaurant during these times of COVID. Highly recommend it.
We had a great dinner, excellent service, the outdoor was adequately heated so we did not need to keep our coats on. The staff seemed to be doing a great job of sanitizing between diners.
Visited with a friend and we are both longtime Clyde’s customers. The food was great and the service was terrific. But it was a chilly and windy day and the tent and space heaters didn’t cut it. Heartbreaking to see the wonderful dining spaces unused.
Great to still have an outdoor dining venue in Chevy Chase. Noise level a challenge due to the acoustics inside a tent. Heaters work very well. Menu remains predictable and food quality continues to be acceptable for the standard lunch/brunch choices. Eggs, burgers, crab cakes. Deserts tasty-cheese cake and bread pudding.
MoCo shut down indoor dining, so we did their tent on Christmas Eve. It is in an area protected from wind by adjacent buildings, but there is good air flow and the heaters warmed the place up. Service was terrific and so was the food. Let's support our local restaurants and tip our servers to help them get through this. I will be back in a heartbeat to enjoy their food and attentive service and keep our friends and neighbors at work and in business!
Great setting outdoors. Felt safe with good air-flow and warm with great patio heaters. Service was outstanding and in these very troubling times was an amazing experience that definitely will get me back.
Not a negative, but the medium rare steak was truly European medium rare and not like typical American medium rare, so good to know for the future and different from past visits.
They only had outside dinning and did not let us know prior to arrival
It was great. Too bad it’s getting cold and due to the new covid rules we have to be outdoors. Blessings to all the restaurants
Our waitress was so nice and she even took pics of us near the Christmas tree. I'd definitely come back, the steak was tasteful.
Honey Old Bay Chicken Wings! Nothing more needs to be said.....
Great food and service.
They were working on the heating system. The restaurant was freezing and we ate with our coats and scarfs on.
Josh, hostess, was polite and helpful with the take out order after we ate at the restaurant
Paulo, the server, was passionate about the food and knew the menu from top to bottom. He was passionate about his job!
We hadn’t been to the Clydes in Friendship Heights for a long time. We had a wonderful evening. Like to give a “shout out” to Andrew, our bartender. He was great - a wonderful host, easy to talk to and he mixed wonderful cocktails. Palo was our waiter. He was excellent too. Great service and very knowledgeable about the menu.
We had a good time outside with the heaters and a great waitress who took good care of us. They were very nice and I feel for the Restsurant cause we need to support them to stay afloat. Parking is validated and easy. So go and support them.
Everything was very nice, but most importantly, I was warm!
A big shoutout to Paolo, my server, who was so friendly yet professional. My Thanksgiving dinner there was perfect with all components cooked well. They were also COVID conscious taking my temperature remotely when I arrived and spacing out the tables. In fact, there were very few tables occupied which is probably due to a lot of people understandably not wanting to dine out indoors. Clyde’s has always been a fave of mine anyway.
An excellent dinner! Very much as expected. I was seriously temped by the steak dinner but I did want it to be traditional. The beer selection was adequate. Stella Artios is a good beer but nothing phenominal.
