Underwhelming experience, this location has seen better days..the lamp at my table was dusty and had a piece of hair hanging from it and my chicken one sandwich was loaded with too much cheese and the bottom bread was soggy. Additionally, my child’s pizza had too much cheese which came off the pizza.
Great lunch, just disappointed with the fried Chicken on my salad. three small chicken strips that were not look appetizing at all, when you say FRIED CHICKEN you expect FRIED CHICKEN.
Excellent food at an excellent price. You cannot go wrong with the atmosphere and quality at any of the Clyde's establishments.
Disappointing. Not the Clydes of yesteryear. The waiter was courteous and attentive, but knew little about the menu. Food was pretty awful. Won't go back.
Bad service and messed up several orders but food was ok.
Anyone searching for the very best cornmeal crusted oysters need look no further than Clyde’s. Simply sensational!!! In fact; everything Clyde’s offers is first rate
Came here for brunch. Excellent food and service, great atmosphere. Planning to come back.
Enjoyable late Mother’s Day dinner at the bar watching the Caps game.
Generally an enjoyable experience for a Mother's Day dinner. Waitstaff very pleasant.
We were there for Mothers day, and while it was understandably busy, we had zero problems with wait times, food quality, or service. Everyone was pleasant and wonderful whole working their tails off.
Great job on a busy day!
Over all, it was good and pleasant. HOWEVER, I would like to make one recommendation, which is our lady server could have paid a bit more attention to our table. Perhaps, it was too busy for her to do that due to your Sunday traffic with less personnel taking care of guests, which I have noticed before on my previous dining there. Service was not the best, but was satisfactory. Could have been better.
Attentive servers, tasty meal
We had an early dinner here to celebrate Mother's Day. I far prefer local, non chain restaurants, however, it worked really well for our three-generation group that included one restless 2 year old. Clydes has a good kids menu and is very accommodating and tolerant of kids. Plus the space lends itself to giving kids a bit of space to move around and is lively enough so nearby table neighbors aren't likely to be bothered by a bit of chaos at one's own table. The menu provides many choices so everyone can find something appealing.
The food was good. The waiter was not attentive and never asked us if we needed anything . Had to repeatedly ask to have drinks refilled.
Went to celebrate mother's day, the menu was a disappointment.
Kids shared a cesars salad and had a salmon/burger from kids menu. Kids salmon was super small and over cooked. My wife and I shared a Tuna poke for starter, probably the best dish we got among us. As out entree we had the Spring market salad with steak. Probably the smallest salad served in the DC area. Mine steak was gummy and full of fat pieces.
Service was amazing.... especially for a busy day!!!
According to the hostess the open table system doesn’t work and our reservation was not valid. She didn’t even try to find us a table. The manager was also not helpful. We left and went to a better restaurant without a reservation and they were able to accommodate us.
Went for Mother's Day, the entire complex is torn up for extensive renovations making parking and access challenging. The staff was running around in a frenzy. The manager agreed to turn down the AC that was blasting our area, after several requests. Took a long time to get coffee, one server acknowledged they were having coffee production problems. Then took a longer time to get our food. Not sure what was going on but not a shining moment for Clyde's of Chevy Chase. I hope our experience yesterday is not the new normal for Clyde's. There are lots of options in the area and with the shopping center being torn up, they need to make every customer these days happy.
Very spotty service. New and nervous server, food did not come in proper sequence, and was not made to standard we expect from Clyde’s.
Everyday Anerican food, somewhat overpriced. Our server seemed not to know anything about the dishes we inquired about, probably best to stick with a burger.
Took my in laws here when they came to visit. It has always been a DC staple. Clyde’s is comfortable, nice but not too fancy. Family friendly which is also great. The service is always impeccable. The food is great, and the menu is super accessible for all types of eaters. Would highly recommend.
Service very slow, especially at 2:00p in the afternoon when we were hungry!
We have been to Clyde's several times and we enjoy the atmosphere and the food. There is something for almost everyone. This trip the only downer was our waiter. He was ok, but not terribly helpful. He seemed more interested in finishing his side work so he could go home, than taking care of his customers. It probably won't keep me from going again the next time I am in Chevy Chase.
Nice that they have gluten free options labeled on the menu.
Enjoyed a birthday celebration for lunch.
Clyde's is a favorite go-to place. The food is reliable. One can count on food as described in the menu. There is great variety in the offerings - something for everyone. The wait staff is pleasant, informed, polite, and attentive without being obtrusive. There is a variety of seating arrangements for a single person or a group of 10 - 12 or more. The price is moderate - even good value for the money.
Never disappoints for a business lunch, or a family dinner. Local, fresh food prepared well, can't beat it.
We stopped in for lunch. The service was slow, but staff was very friendly and accommodating. I wasn't overly impressed with the food. The decor is very cool, with vintage cars, planes models, etc. I also didn't realize this was part of a chain. Probably won't be repeat customers.
The food was excellent! The ambiance was great! Wonderful to celebrate a special occasion. Our waitress however was very stuffy and borderline rude. When she first arrived to the table to give us water there was a big in the water which she quickly responded and said I will get new glasses. However, we just decided that we didn’t want the water. She became very offended as if we were personally insulting her. From that moment on our experience went down hill. We were celebrating a birthday so we wanted to get dessert. However, because she was so rude when she came back to give us our check we felt as if she was saying you all need to leave with her deamenor. So we just paid and left with out getting the happy birthday finale! The restaurant and food were excellent; the waitress treated us like we were interrupting her day by coming!
I have eaten at Clyde's in Chevy Chase many times. One of the main reasons is the availability of parking. Unfortunately, with the adjacent construction, the parking has become problematic. I realize that is not the restaurant's fault but I will probably dine elsewhere until the construction is completed.
As always the Monday night prime rib special is worth going for!
I have been a fan of the Clyde's Group restaurants for decades -- good food, nice surroundings, at a good value. Unfortunately, this particular bunch was not a good experience. Though not busy, apparently the server was too occupied to even stop by our table for nearly 10 minutes, and we had to go looking for someone to bring the cappuccino and tea after another 15 (which was served cold). The food was also served cold. To the manager's credit -- when informed of the issues -- he personally took over for the server and (though not requested in any way) also offered to comp the meal. I have dined at Clyde's Group restaurants well over 500 times and have rarely been disappointed, yet felt compelled to weigh in after this unusual dining experience.
Crab cakes with roasted vegetables and fish and chips were tasty. Good value for the price. Service a little spotty because it was jammed but that will not preclude me from returning.
We were seated at 6:15, and the server didn't arrive until 6:25. She took our drink orders first. By 6:45 we still didn't have our drinks. It went on like that for the rest of the night. Once the food came, she never came back. We had to ask the manager to get us our bill, after waiting a long time already.
I love the Clyde's restaurants! I ate a late lunch at the Chevy Chase Clyde's with a buddy recently, and I was impressed with the vibrant business crowd they had, in spite of an incredibly messy and invasive parking lot reconstruction right outside their front door. We had great service and stayed much too long visiting while the lunch crowd dwindled (left a big tip). The menu is always changing at Clyde's and they have some very creative and current choices. It was hard to make a choice between spring salad bowls, taquitos, homos plates and asian chicken buns, but I went with the chicken buns and chili. The buns were filled with very dry thigh meat and overly salty sauce, so I sent them back. The chili, a mainstay, was fantastic. So a miss and a hit - I still love Clyde's restaurants!
Food was very well executed and portions were generous. Unfortunately we had an absentee server, so it took a while to get anything, whether it was more water, dessert, or a check we had to flag down other staff to get any attention.
The service was lacking, not because the waiter didn’t try but it seemed like he had a huge area to cover!! Wasn’t fair to him. The parking was also a mess, the valet told us we had to be out by 9, then with the slow service we felt very rushed and on edge.
The day boat scallop dish was delicious! It came with a lemon butter sauce that was light but flavorful. Great combination of seafood with spring vegetables like roasted baby carrots and golden beets. I would order it again. I was disappointed by the dessert. The strawberry rhubarb crisp was a soggy mess. It came in a cup, with the ice cream already on top. There was not enough topping to begin with, and the ice cream had already melted and made the crust goopy and there was no warmth left in the dish. There was too much strawberry-rhubarb filling, and it was pale, mushy and tasteless. Maybe it would have been better served in a shallow brulee dish, with lots more topping, less filling, and the ice cream on the side so it actually lived up to its name of "crisp." I usually like Clyde's desserts but will skip this one in the future. Other than dessert everything including our waiter was lovely.
Food was surprisingly bland, oddly portioned, and not in keeping with the standard of established at original location. Given the above, it also proved overpriced for the end result. N
