Clyde's at Mark Center Ratings and Reviews
I came for the oysters. Always good at Clyde's. Had Rockfish entrée with root vegetables. The purée which had lots of beets and broccoli overpowered the Rockfish, won't order that again. Service was lackadaisical. Clyde's is always hit or miss, which is too bad for the price point. Stick with the raw bar.
We were seated quickly, and the wait staff was at our table promptly. Drinks came quickly, and the staff gave us plenty of time to order. Food was at the table quickly, and was delicious. The wait staff checked on us several times, but wasn't trying to rush us. Highly recommended.
We must have had a new server, he seemed very green. Basic things like not taking our menus after we ordered, not bringing cream for coffee (we asked several times, while coffee went cold), not offering refills, etc. I have never had a service complaint at Clyde’s, this was definitely an anomaly. We ended up having to call other servers over for help. Mind you, I have never seen the dining room so empty, so busy wasn’t an issue. I was embarrassed as I took my parents there, and felt bad about my recommendation when there were so many issues. The food was almost great. One diner’s eggs were over cooked. Not a great experience, unfortunately.
What a great place to start the New Year for brunch with my husband. When we arrived around 12:30 it was not very busy but a steady stream of patrons, had a fresh energy and was comfortably warm. The server was delightful. The brunch menu was available for NY’s Day. We started with orders of tomato bisque soup & clam chowder. Followed by the smoked salmon scramble for my hubby and I wanted my favorite cheeseburger with a salad. Nothing fancy. Just fresh well prepared food ( hot food hot & cold food cold), a pleasant leisurely atmosphere, and comfortable. The one disappointment was my cocktail (New York Sour) which had no flavor . I’ll just avoid it in the future.
My husband and I go to Clyde's about once a month, however, the food on this night was less than stellar, perhaps because it was NYE. Their menu seems to have been significantly reduced from their previous offerings, which is a disappointment. The french dip sandwich is usually a delicious sandwich, unfortunately, this time it was rather dry and bland and the only thing saving it was the jus. Hopefully our next visit will be better.
I have been dining at this Clyde's for many years now, but this last dining experience was not noteworthy. Maybe because it was New Year's Eve (dinner at 7pm) but the service was terrible, very slow. The wait for our drinks (after we were seated) was around 25 minutes. After ordering our appetizers, we had to wait another 20 or so minutes for that serving. When we were finally served our entrees, I had to send mine back due to the wrong vegetable sides on the plate with the Rockfish. When my Rockfish was returned with the correct vegetable sides (about a 20 minute wait-again!) it was only "so-so." An average preparation, cooked less than medium which was my specification. The taste was limited. My wife's dinner was very good, she had no complaints. Our drinks were good and the dessert was tasty. Overall however, this is the first FAIR rating I have ever given Clyde's at Mark Center. Although I was disappointed this last visit, we will return because of their raw oyster bar (exceptional!) and the quality of their cocktails. Hopefully, this last visit was a one-time abomination.
My boyfriend and our friends went to Clyde's at Mark Center for an early NYE dinner. The food (highly recommend the mashed potatoes), wine, and our server were great. We got a bottle of wine to share, and one glass in, someone (not our server) walks up to our table and asks us for our ID's. This really shocked me. She had walked past our table a couple of times before. Honestly, I thought it was very rude and that kind of ruined it for us. Other than that we had a pleasant experience.
After arriving for brunch, my friend and I decided to sit at the bar. We had oysters and brunch. The food was great and the bartenders were knowledgeable. Shannon was the best!!!
Kudos to the chef. I had the calf’s liver and it was delicious — melt in your mouth tender!
Have dined at Clydes many times and I would rate the overall experience as good. On Saturday nite the service was unacceptably slow with both food and drink. My Caesar salad was never delivered. I requested it to be brought out before the main course.
As I was entertaining out of town friends, I may never come back.
Classic American restaurant. Nothing “nouveau” but classic ingredients, simply prepared in a welcoming environment. This particular Friday night was very busy and staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. While we never felt rushed, staff minimized the “white space” .... we were in and out in 1 hour 15, about 30 minutes quicker than a typical dinner out. Basic but inviting wine list. Something for everybody at reasonable prices.
One disappointment to note ... we ordered the charcuterie board as an appetizer. Not exactly one of the best we’ve ever had particularly for the price ($16). It was kind’a thin on the sliced meats but included enough chicken liver pate for a full meal. It was good but returned half eaten, simply too much.
The only reason why I came here the other night was to get the Pumpkin Ravioli with my best friend who also shares a love for this dish. I didn't realize that they didn't have it on their menu anymore, but other locations do. I was very sad!! I am rescheduling a dinner date to the Gallery Place location to get this dish. Bring it back!!!
My husband and I were surprised and glad to get a last-minute reservation for dinner on Christmas Eve. Excellent service, tasty meal, and the chocolate ice cream for dessert was rich and delicious. The bread they give you while you wait for your order is warm and wonderful, but also very filling, so try not to stuff yourself too much before the main course!
We are great fans of Clydes, but were very disappointed in the limited menu on Christmas Eve - it seemed different from our last visit. Then my crabcake was very skimpy, with only a trace of vegetables. My other family ordered sandwiches, when they didn't find appetizing options on the main menu.
We went for a family dinner on Christmas Eve, with my 90 year old mother. When I made the reservation, I told the hostess she needs a chair. She said we would get a booth with a chair, which is fine. Instead, we got a booth in the bar, no chair. It was cold and drafty. The waiter was super friendly. But, the food was fair to poor. The crab cakes were adequate. I had the shrip/pasta dish which was cold and tasteless. My husband had the rockfish, which was not good. The manager lady came around and asked how our meal was, but being it was Christmas Eve, we did not complain. I will not come here again for dinner ... maybe happy hour.
We are frequent, long-term customers of Clyde's. Usually, the food is excellent & the wait staff always friendly, knowledgeable & eager to please. We dined at Clyde's Christmas eve with the understanding that it would be very busy, but were not prepared for the undercooked, virtually RAW entrees (duck & Chilean sea bass). We had to send BOTH back for re-cooking. This is unheard of & a serious reflection on the quality & expertise of the chef staff.
We had an early dinner on Christmas Eve, a very busy day. Despite that, service was excellent - server left us alone to talk, but was around immediately when we needed him. Clydes offers several distinct seating options from woodsy to shipping decor to a porch like seating for any mood. Food quality is always dependable. Good place to go.
Had the Crab Cake Sandwich- the worse and extremely “Nasty”. It was extremely small on a small dollar store bun. The sandwich was “COLD”. French Fries were fried until dry. So disappointed! Had to ask to turn the heat up due to the restaurant being “Cold” when it was cold outside as well.
Wonderful meals and good prices. You to eat some food and we left with a lot more… It was a wonderful experience and I cannot tell you how thankful I am to have you seen the wonderful service I received this evening thank you so much to everyone Eccard I appreciate the service and will be returning in the near future happily…
Great food, kids menu, and decent veggie options. My wife had the salmon which she loved, my father in law had pork, my brother in law had a roasted chicken, and my sister in law had fish too. Everyone loved it. I had risotto which was wonderful. The beans and bacon were a smash and the bread was warm.
