Food was excellent and service top notch!
We ordered glasses of wine at the same time that we ordered appetizers, but the waiter never brought them until two of our family of three had already finished dinner. We were the only ones in the dining room, but after serving the entrees, the waiter never reappeared until he brought the wine. The food was good as usual, but the inattentive service detracted from its enjoyment.
A lovely Sunday brunch.
This has always been a great place to gather for lunch or dinner or brunch...the staff is always friendly and gracious...the surroundings are cozy and inviting making you want to linger for a awhile. The food is always great with a variety to appeal to anyone. It is the best locale and restaurant in the west Alexandria area.
We informed the waiter we were there for a birthday celebration and he said he would do something but he did not and never recognized it. Additionally there was no bread served on table like every other Clyde's I've ever been to and food was just okay, nothing special.
A great casual restaurant that's off the beaten path, so it's not crowded and noisy on a Saturday evening. Decor is delightful: a sailing theme in one dining room, hunting and fishing in the other.
crappy hamburger - chef needs to see Mike's American burger
consistent menu, staff, and ambience. always a good time!
The crab and artichoke dip is outstanding, as was the grilled chicken Caesar.
Nothing special about the food at this Clyde’s.
Service was awful! Incorrect food was brought out twice -- including a main course that threw off timing for the meal. No apologies were given and no discounts for a truly awful experience. We will not be returning anytime soon.
Very good, safe restaurant. It’s busy so sometimes the service is slow. Great food, good setting, lots of parking. I recommend it
We have been to Clyde’s several times. The food is usually good but the service is always a bit slow. Tonight was worse than ever. The front desk staff was grumpy and argued with me about our reservation. The waiter was very slow and struggled to get our order correct. He did not understand our wine selection and forgot several things. We had to ask for bread and when it arrived it was like a ration portion. One order was seafood pasta - it had a couple of strands of pasta and too much sauce. When we asked about the small amount of pasta, the waiter said he could ask if we could purchase more but was not sure. We ordered tea at the end and he brought the wrong kind. Then we waited 20 minutes for the check. We do like Clyde’s generally, but this visit might be our last!
It is so nice to have a dependable restaurant in the area. I can always count on great food and considerate service.
GOOD FOR LUNCH AS WELL A DINNER!
HEALTHY WELL BALANCED MEAL.
I love Clyde's. It's consistently reliable. Food is well prepared. Seafood is a favorite for me and always cooked perfectly. Last visit I had softcrabs and they were delicious. We enjoyed some special cocktails on the menu. The decor at the different Clyde's locations are well thought out. I especially appreciate the Mark Center outdoor oriented interior design.
The menu presents a wide variety of items and the food is always excellent. Also, if you’re into raw oysters, this is the place for you! Check their website for excellent happy hours and other special events.
Mom was in town, so we went to Clyde's for oysters. They are always fresh, cold and tasty. Good selection this time. We had a really nice, relaxed lunch.
We haven't been here for a while, but I am not sure why, because we had a lovely dinner. Food was delicious, great calamari, yummy burger, delicious shrimp and grits. Great service. We really enjoyed our birthday dinner.
Going away party for six.
Good as always. We find Clyde's food consistently good. Service is usually fine.
The food I like to eat and have had at Clyde's is no longer on the menu. I eat a vegetarian ... sandwich, salad or whatever I can find. The falfalal (sorry for the miss-spelling) was a HUGE disappointment... soggy pita ... messy and mushy. Blah.
I have had a really good mushroom sandwich and a really good grilled green pepper with other vegetables sandwich in times past. I do not understand why Clyde's changes out the good stuff for the bad stuff.
Others with me were satisfied with their meals, but weren't raving about it, and I didn't ask them if theirs was good.
Our waitress was fine and pleasant. The group had an enjoyable conversation, but the surrounding noise was not particularly quiet and so we really had to speak up to be heard. For 5 people, I would have preferred a round table to a rectangular booth even though the booth gave adequate seating space.
Food was fine but service was very slow and inconsistent. Bar service was fine but dining room experience was not up to Clyde’s standards
The food wasn't as good as it had been in the past. The crab cakes had much more filler in them and the French fries were a bit soggy and tasteless. The service was just okay.
Great pita and three spread appetizer. Lovely salad with sweet blackberries and spinach, topped with salmon grilled perfectly. A bit pricey, but a fun outing.
We found the food at this Clyde's location much better than others. However, service was slower than we would have preferred, especially with three kids. Overall a good spot for a family brunch. Dependable food. The fish pond is a huge hit with kids.
Over the last 20 years, I’ve eaten at Clyde’s about a dozen times. I don’t know why I don’t eat there more often. The food and service are always great. And I love the quiet ambiance. It’s one of the best restaurants in the DC area without the DC price.
Our waitress was friendly and helpful, but she must have had too many tables because we had to wait for mustard and for dessert menus. The sauerkraut on the Reuben sandwich tasted funky (sweet).
We go there quite a lot but the food wasn't too good for a while and we stopped going. However, we were delighted with the improvement in the food this last time and will be back....
Our server arrived at our table to take our drink order and I ordered mussels. At that point, we weren’t ready to order. It took at at least 10 minutes for the server to come back to the table. When I asked where were you? “I got sit multiple large tables and I needed to take care of those,” he replied in a rude condescending matter. He barely came to the table. The steak I ordered came back medium rare when I ordered medium, which has never been a problem in the past. My sister in-law asked for BBQ and it was not a BBQ and it was extremely spicy. That was found out when my four year old niece had some, not very good at all. We will not be returning to restaurant at all.
Service was adequate. Very busy, world cup was playing, so understandable. Meal was good, Buffalo Wings were a little on the over cooked side. Was pleased with the overall evening.
Food was excellent and the server, "Bruce Y" was outstanding.
Arrived a bit early (5:45 for a 6:00 reservation) and were not seated till 6:10. When we were seated we were taken to a back bar area and a table had been put together for six (the rest of the area was relatively empty), but two of the add-on chairs were wooden and had been outside all day (they were wood and it had been raining). The gentleman helping us apologized and put towels and napkins on the seats, but they were still damp. I would expect this kind of service at a beach bar, but not at a restaurant owned by the Clyde's group. I was actually really surprised that Clyde's would think that such a "work around" was acceptable. Very disappointed in the standard level. I've eaten at Clyde's locations since I was a kid and never seen this level of hospitality...
We had a great time. We began with the market salad was very fresh with light dressing. Then we shared the cheese ravioli and seared scallops. Both dishes were delicious. The chocolate mousse we downed immediately but didn't have room for the creme brulee which we took with us for a later treat. All was great. Great time was had by all. The service was just right.
When we first moved in nearby the reviews weren’t that great but it the last year the rating seems to have gone up so we thought we’d give it a try. We were all very happy with our meals. I got a hanger steak and Parmesan fries, my mother got fish and chips, and my husband got a rigatoni dish. They were all very delicious despite being different cuisines. The waiter was friendly and professional, we will definitely be back!
It was not the best experience, as it had been in the past. The customer service experience used to be outstanding. The other night it was weak at best from the moment we walked in the door.
Food was delicious (salmon burger and steak frites, blueberry shortcake). Service was excellent. Ann-Marie was great!
Reservation process: easy. Host/hostess staff: pleasant, responsive, flexible. Wait staff (Alexas) pleasant, knowledgeable, efficient and effective. Quality of food: excellent in taste, preparation and presentation. Always a reliable “good experience”.
