Food is standard fare and the restaurant seems old. Service is good.
Where to start
Half hour wait on reservation
Confusion at reception
Waiter requires more training; somewhat diffident and silent
Long spell to order cocktails, long spell to get them
No inquiry about refills
Appetizer still working while entres arrive, although after a long wait
Food runner had no idea where each entre was going
Cold food, sent back reappeared just about when meal was over
Need any more?
P.S. frequent diners, use Open Table, business dinner, usually big tipper, not this time
Really good service, great food (excellent burger and fries) only exception was the falafel, just kind of dry.
We go to Clydes frequently and always have a great time. This time our experience started off great when we were seated at 530 but then we didn’t get our food till after we asked at 640. Which isn’t great when you have a one year old and you have been waiting for a bit. Then they got one of two our dishes very wrong. We didn’t asked for them to be redone as we had a little one who was not having it. One of our party is vegan and she ordered a vegetarian burger without cheese and on French bread - specifically asking for the bread that is starved at the table. She got a burger covered in cheese with sourdough bread. We asked for the Mac and cheese with peas for the baby and got Mac without the peas. Others got bland fish and chips. Overall it could have been better- we had planned to order desert but that didn’t happen after all the wait. I know clydes to be careful with orders and timely - I am hoping this was a one off experience.
Clyde's is just fun. Excellent burgers in a fine atmosphere, and by all means try their cheese plate, either as an appetizer or dessert.
This is my favorite Clyde's restaurant. I love the decor, the booths are comfy and the atmosphere pleasant. Food at Clyde's is always on the mark. I especially rank restaurants by the way they cook seafood. In this instance I had soft shell crabs. They were cooked just right, fresh and delicious.
Clyde's at Mark Center provides a quality dining experience with serving staff that treat you like an honored guest who are happy you came, to cuisine that is prepared flawlessly, to just the little touches like warm bread and butter, and finally, to thoughtfully designed dining areas that excite the imagination and are pleasant to view too. I unequivocally recommend Clyde's as the place you can bring your family and friends, or business acquaintances to without a concern for the experience.
It was busy. Staff was stretched to far. Waitress did a good job but had too much to cover. Waited too long to get check taken care of. Son's steak was tough.
This is one of our "Go-to" restaurants.
Always good food and service.
Love the decor and fireplace in the main dining room.
Feel like we are having a meal in a hunting cabin!!
The fish and chips were extremely greasy... the hake was not cooked fully, the battered crust was not what you would expect a good F & C to be, not even remotely close, the chips (fries) were cold, and the cole slaw was warm (not cool and crisp). The waiter was really quite a nice chap, very professional and polite. Your establishment is really beautiful inside, but as it was, we were placed out back in the "B" section … too cold and gloomy... torn cushion-back in our booth kept falling forward. Maybe an inside table with a different selection from the menu would have made a difference, however of the other selections that we noticed perusing past our table on their way to other patrons in the restaurant that day, nothing else looked that appetizing. In summation, I would rather have really great food when I frequent an establishment, than the upscale atmosphere. It's really about the food in the end. Thanks
Great time. Service was excellent.
Waited over 1 1/2 hours for meal. Once served, it was cooked incorrectly. Another 20 minutes later food arrived. Ugh
We were seated in the bar area, would have preferred another dining area.
Clyde’s did a great Mothers’ Day brunch!!! Keep on keeping on❤️❤️❤️
Using Open Table for the last minute reservation on a busy Mother's Day was a blessing.
Have been to Clyde's at Mark Center many many times, it is just around the corner from home.
The table was waiting as we arrived. Damaris was our waiter. He is friendly and informative. Perfect service. Perfect meals. Highly recommended to our friends. We dined in the "Gazebo" section, we love the casual atmosphere surrounded by trees in the parkland around the restaurant. Loads of fun for the day.
Excellent service and location out of four plates, 3 perfect except the liver which was requested well done and came out medium.
It's a bit pricey, but there's nowhere in Alexandria's West End anywhere near as classy as Clyde's, and their waitstaff is the best trained for miles around. It would be very helpful if they'd add just one vegan option to their menu, but at least they're accommodating to substitutions and special requests.
Great service! Manager Tim wodruff gave amazing service.
It was Mother's Day so obviously very busy but the servers still managed to get things done and done well.
I always like Clydes but this is the last time I will get the steak and eggs. They changed the steak and it is tough. I thought the first time was an anomaly, but the 2nd visit it was just as tough. I love that they leave the water pitcher at the table. Would have liked a few more visits by the waitress, but it was Mother's Day.
It was a 45 minute wait for our food. A total of two eggs with potatoes, and one bowl of chili. Horrible service. After 43 minutes of waiting, our service showed up with bread and said he forgot to deliver the bread to our table. Then we had to wait to find out waited again to pay. We will never return. We love the other Clyde locations. But skip this location !!!!
Great service and food. Will definitely come back again. Staff was very professional and courteous.
We had a wonderful Mother's Day brunch for my wife this past Sunday at Clyde's at the Mark Center. Orlando was our server and he was polite, charming, knowledgeable and very well-informed, making an excellent suggestion on our main courses. The champagne was perfect - dry and not too sweet. Coffee was hot. Everything was great! Thank you.
Perfect service from the waiter , the food and the management.
Wish there were 2-3 more main entrees to the menu. The restaurant environment was nice and food was was ok for the price except the NY steak was overpriced compared to the rest of the menu.
Food average, nothing stands out. Reasonable prices. Like an old glove that you have better memories of, but are disappointed when you put it on.
Don't order a burger medium rare. Comes out well done.
The location of this Clyde's is a hidden jewel in the area and the closet to our homes. Each time we visit, we have great service and food. Highly recommended to all family and friends.
Great service. Great food. Love the atmosphere. A real gem in Mark Center.
Everything was super, as always! Great service. Good food. Reasonable prices. Only problem is that the servings are too large!
The second waiter who took care of us was great. Hamburger with cheese and mushrooms was very good as was the side-salad. Key lime pie was great. Decor is good, similar to the Friendship Heights location.
The icing on the cake was when they added Carrot Cake to the desert menu. A perfect ending to a delicious meal of perfectly prepared steak and baked potato. Yeah, Carrot Cake!!!!!!!!
Food was not quite up to par for Clyde’s
Ordered a single crab cake diner and got half portions of sides, as well as very mediocre crab cake. Plate lookeded very sad with 3 sweet potato fries.
Excellent oysters, however.
Service was not good. We were a party of 5 and got seated in a booth - we are all over 70 and sliding wasnot good. Food was only ok. No need to hurry back.
We get to Clyde's once a month or so, and it's pretty reliable. The only challenge that I have is we usually get a new server. This time was no different.
Example of why Clyde's rarely gets a fifth star from me: At the beverage order, I asked for a Bluecoat martini, up with olives. I had to explain that "Bluecoat" was a brand of gin, then I was told that they didn't have it--EVEN THOUGH I SAW THE BOTTLE WHEN I WALKED BY THE BAR ON THE WAY TO MY SEAT!
So, I had to get up, walk the server to the bar, show her the bottle, and stand there ready to answer the bartender's questions.
Come to think of it, experiences like this are exactly why I only go once a month or so--if I'm not up for training their staff, then I just go someplace else.
I have such mixed feelings about Clyde’s at Mark Center. I love the food, it’s a pretty good price for the food, and it’s family friendly. My main complaint is that the service is very erratic and can be really great or really terrible. Tonight it was terrible. SO SLOW. We went there with our three kids, and it should not take over two hours to get served a basic meal. Kids were totally melting down by the time we got out of there.
I booked trough open table checking occasion as Birthday. The hostess didn’t tell my server that’s it’s a birthday. It was a failed practice on Clyde’s part. No cake or something was serve to surprise a friend. I am willing to pay the cost. Disappointed loyal customer of Clyde’s .
This was my first time at Clyde's although I've been to another establishment owned by the same company (Old Ebbit) so I thought it was a safe bet. The calamari was excellent. On par with Old Ebbit's. The service was good but not over the top great such as Mikes in Springfield. I'll go again to try some other menu items.
Relatives in from Russia wanted show them something very America. Love the decor and the good was good.
Clyde's has consistent quality and value for the food.
Time to update/change the brunch menu?
Waiter was tired so service was a little sluggish.
