Clyde's at Mark Center
Food is always good at Clydes except on holidays. Don't know if kitchen staff, chef, is overwhelmed by number of orders.
Ate at Chevy Chase Thanksgivi g, Turkey was so dried out, I couldn't eat it, Tower Oaks Thanksgiving past year..had crab cake that had no taste, Easter, Apr 22, 2019..ham was so salty I couldn't eat more than a few bites, collard greens were so hot & spicy..also couldn't eat.
I've eaten at Clydes Tower Oaks & Chevy Chase many times & it was always good but I'll never go again on a holiday. I had 10 People with me this last Easter.
Easter holiday with out of town family.
For a Easter menu... thought it was poor
As always our favorite place to dine for Easter we appreciate the staff and waiters.
We went for a pre-Easter dinner, not overly crowded so it was nice and quiet. Servers were helpful, efficient and professional. Started with the smoked white fish pate that was delicious, entrees were the scallop dish that was incredible and the pasta with shell fish that was quite good, but a little on the spicy side. We were so full we could not order desert (the scallops could have been our desert, they were so sweet and tender). All in all a great way to spend Saturday evening.
Our server was the kindest , patient, gracious and most attentive person. Ebony (if memory serves) was wonderful.
We three had a nice late brunch. My hamburger was good and quite filling. My friends had omelets which they both liked. A convenient spot for a long conversation. Easy access. Staff was very friendly. My first time at this location. I'll be back.
Clyde’s has bee our favorite DC area restaurant since the 80’s because the food, service & ambience are consistently excellent.
Great, as always. Glad we brought our out of town guests there!
A nice spot for a dinner out. The decor is very nice and has a fun nautical theme. Food was so-so but still enjoyable.
Always a great go to! Yummy!
Disappointed that they were out of liver. I was so looking forward to some sautéed liver, onions, and bacon. The substitute dish was very good.
Great menu selections; all four of us were totally satisfied with our meals and the service was outstanding!
The food was very good , the atmosphere is pleasant and you can carry on a conversation and not have to raise your voice. The staff is friendly and willing to assist.
The decor is a little hokey- not like Old Ebbitts which has such wonderful ambiance- it was good but not great -the shrimp salad was served with hot slightly chewy shrimp that wilted the salad, the steak salad had very little beef and if there were grilled onions and mushrooms in there, we couldn't find them, also very small but still a tasty salad, however the grilled salmon Nicoise salad was really, really good and was definitely more of the entree salad we were expecting. A good restaurant but certainly not the quality of Old Ebbitts or the lodge - hope the quality isn't going down because we love these restaurants!
I had the Eggs Benedict and was very disappointed. Service was also slow and the restaurant wasn’t busy.
Family brunch for my mothers 95th birthday. Food was great and service was wonderful. She was thrilled when the server gave her her birthday cupcakes.
We brought guests from out of town. Had a great time. They enjoyed their different brunch entrees
and really liked the decor of the restaurant. Service was great!
Was here in Alexandria for a conference so thought we’d try it. Very good and loved the decor. Quaint for such a large place
Our server was excellent. Oysters were delicious and overall food was very good. We do a conference in the area annually and always have Clyde's on our list.
I had made reservations for my wedding anniversary, and had noted in my reservation that it was an anniversary dinner.
It was a late 9pm dinner as we had to put our child to sleep, so the restaurant was empty on a Tuesday night. However, the service was horrible. Our server was inattentive and hardly came by to our table, and it took 2 hours to complete our dinner in and empty restaurant. We hardly saw our server, and felt completely isolated in the empty space.
I would maybe understand slow service in a busy restaurant, but in an empty one, this was completely unacceptable and much below the standards we expect from Clydes. I contacted Clydes regarding this situation before posting this review, but they did not even bother to reply to my email. I am very disappointed.
Good menu. A little pricey, but the happy hour oysters are well worth it. In fact, the best thing. They also have gluten free options clearly marked, and they will modify other entrees if it safe. I will return to Clyde's at the Mark Center in the future.
In a dining room with only one other table occupied, and that by a loud talking pair of men, our party of four was initially seated directly beside them. We asked to be moved and we were.
One of our party ordered Clyde's menu standard, liver and onions, but it came out overcooked and tough.
I've dined at Clyde's several times for brunch and have always been very pleased with the service and food. This visit was the exception, at least regarding the service. The reservation was early, we a party of 3, the restaurant wasn't crowded but it took a longtime for our food to arrive and our waiter who was very nice was MIA. I had to ask another waiter to find ours. Again this was an exception, but a notable one.
A good solid restaurant in my neighborhood. I had the short ribs, which were very good.
Fantastic food and service. 3 loud gentlemen at the bar almost forced me to ask for a relocation.
Then a group from work(?) on Saturday evening (?) distracted our dinner.
Nevertheless, we’ve enjoyed Clyde’s quality and professionalism throughout the meal.
We’ll be back!
I like clydes but this one feels a bit worn out- more like a T.G.I. Friday’s. Our server left a lot on the table including our first round of drinks after we ordered wine. We got maybe two or three visits total. The muscles were good and hanger steak was okay (kinda greasy- overly marinaded) and the bacon cheeseburger was lame, over cooked - could have been gotten at a fast food restaurant. Of course if anyone checked on us we would have let them know. Also waiting for the check for 15 mins after a mediocre to bad dinner? Come on- We will go to the other restaurants from this group but this one is a skip.
This is the type of place that is good to bring guests to when you have no idea of their likes and dislikes. There is enough variety to keep everyone happy and has service and quality to satisfy.
Servers listened to our dietary requirements. They did not bring bread at our request and replaced the starch with a side salad. We appreciate the adjustment and understanding.
As a group of 4, we all ordered different plates and drinks. Our waiter didn't miss a beat. He checked on us several times and was most pleasant. The food was really good. Of course, all of us have been to Clyde's many times and will do so again in the future. I never tire of their menu. Thanks for making our luncheon so pleasant.
GREAT service, timing of food - allowing visiting with friend without pressure
Best place ever.
Thank you for a lovely evening.
New manager and chef making noticeable improvement to food quality and service.
The salmon (as a replacement for chicken) salad and the salmon burger were both excellent. Service was good, although coffee refills had to be requested, and there was no offer of an iced tea refill. But we appreciated not being hurried.
Not up to our previous experiences at Clyde’s. Quiche was overdone, leaking fat. One diner uses a wheelchair. Restaurant has no automatic doors, but greeting staff have always been quick to help with doors. Not today. Table service was ok for a busy day, but not up to usual Clyde’s standards.
As always, Clyde's is unique in that the menu is great, the noise level is low, the value is superb.
All was very good. Your location near the Hilton is ideal as we attend a dance there each weekend at this time.
Could use a few more seafood/meatless options on the menu (for example, clam choweder minus the bacon). Otherwise an excellent choice for our to group to get together and break bread. See you next year as this time.
Food was not prepared as requested — well done burger . Hard to get waitress for coffee refills and coffee luke warm. This is our second experience where we were disappointed. No plans to return .
My wife and I dine at Clyde's nearly weekly. The food is usually uniformly excellent. We enjoy happy hour in the bar and prefer it to the dining rooms, but, this past week the noise was offputting mostly because the place was packed and we were later than usual, arriving at almost 5:30. The oysters were outstanding as always as were the hamburgers my guests ate with gusto. Our server, who we've had in the past on multiple occasions, must have been more harried than ordinarily, since, our dishes were not cleared as they were finished and piled up on the table making it crowded and feeling quite hectic. This can happen occasionally, so, it won't deter us from those wonderful happy hours, the succulent oysters and the professional manner in which they are always shucked and served. :-)
I took a family member for her first time. She enjoyed the French onion soup and crab cakes. She’s ready to return today!!
