Clyde's at Mark Center
As always, very good food, professional service, enjoyable atmosphere, excellent value. They know how to do fish very well, and don't miss the oysters.
We had such a delightful birthday celebration for a very dear friend of mine, along with my husband and mother! The clam chowder my husband had was amazzzzzing! My mother loved the roasted duck breast and my friend and I had the most delicious steak frites ever! Cooked to perfection medium rare!!!!! Very fun evening!!!
Always happy at Clyde’s. Meal comes as ordered and made as expected. We eat here about 1 time per month and always enjoy. Wife says best crab cakes around
Always great food and service at Clydes!
Lovely lunch—wonderful fresh oysters, and delicious spinach salads topped with shrimp. Delightful birthday lunch for four!
Food and service is always outstanding at any Clyde's restaurant. The ambiance at Mark Center is one of my favorite - quiet and cozy.
I have to confess that the Chesapeake Room is my least favorite of the imaginatively decorated and themed rooms at Clydes Mark Center, mostly because it's where most of the large groups wind up, and they tend to be noisy in a room that is already noisier than the others. During our visit, this was only exacerbated by the fact that the music was turned up high enough that diners had to compete with it to be heard. As a result, the room was just plain noisy, which subtracted considerably from the dining experience.
The food and the service were just what we always expect at Clydes -- delicious/inventive and attentive/pleasant. If we could eat exclusively in the Newport Room or the Adirondack Room, our dining experience would be straight fives every time -- these rooms tend to be quieter and usually don't have big groups increasing the noise level.
I have to confess that the menu selections seem to be getting fewer over the last couple years, and the general service has changed in some noticeable ways -- the iced water pitchers have been replaced by room-temperature water bottles, for example. The variety of menu options seems clearly smaller.
All in all, we plan to continue coming to Clydes at Mark Center, but we will endeavor to get quieter seating in the future, and review the menu online before making the reservation to make sure the options reflect our interests.
Bottom line: 4 overall, 5 on food quality and service, 4 on selection, and 3 on noise.
Clyde's did not disappoint as far as service and the quality of the food. Food was prepared well, except the almost raw vegetables. I have to tell you that the menu at all of the Clyde's is getting so far "modern" that it is hard to find something to eat. The entrees are ok, but the accompaniments are more exotic and not to my likes. I hate to say it, but it will be a while before I dine at Clyde's again.
I love the decor of this place, a fly fishing theme with beautiful paintings and objects! And the food and service were great. I was here on Valentines Day with my wife and conversation was easy as the noise level was low.
The only thing I noted on this visit, in February, was the temperature of the particular dining room I was in was cold.
Overall though, I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Just OK. Small table, slow service, average food. Waiter in training came to our table 3 or 4 times with food for other customers! Slow learner!
While the waitress was very friendly, the service was
Great food, but service was slow for a fairly quiet Sunday night. Always enjoy going to this Clyde's, plenty of parking and easy location.
First time at this location! Loved the ambiance and the service was absolutely amazing! Will definitely be back!!
I'm never disappointed. It's one of my go to placed.
Go there frequently for lunch and the brunch on Sunday,
The service was adequate as was the restaurant's ambiance. That said, no one in my party was pleased with the food. Two of us had Eggs Benedict. Both were overdone, the English muffins "tough" and the hollandaise sauce way too thick. The home fries were unremarkable. The third in our party had chicken and waffles. Both the chicken and waffles were over sweet and much was left on the plate. Overall, our dining experience was disappointing.
I have not visited this location in a long while but fondly remember the family dinners we had there and recalled that the food was very good.
Therefore, was excited to return for restaurant week and was disappointed in the lack of flavor in my choices;
I had ordered the mussels as a starter, the swordfish as entree and the creme brulee for dessert.
The mussels were under flavored (especially the broth) and a little undercooked in my opinion.
The sauce mixture with the favero was too heavy although the fish was nicely cooked but again not much flavor. The creme brulee was okay but lacking in flavor as well.
I would try again in near future but was disappointed in the food on this trip.
Our visit to Clyde's at Mark Center was for restaurant week. We were please with the entire meal and the size of the portions. I ordered the mussels for an appetizer and was shocked at how many were included. Likewise my pork schnitzel was a large portion too so I had plenty to take home. We especially liked the dining room with the duck hunting decor. It was quiet and made conversation easy.
Happy hour not to be missed, the oysters were great, Main meals and the soup were fantastic. Highly recommend making Clyde’s a part of your new routine.
The Italian Hoagie was really good.
Clyde's at Mark Center is a wonderful gathering spot. The food is always delicious, service good and ambience usually quiet. If not quiet, you never have to yell to your dinner partner(s). I've been going there for years, and it has maintained its excellence. A very good value.
Excellent food and service. Really appreciate that restaurant is divided up into different, medium sized seating areas - less congestion and noise. Plenty of parking. We'll be back.
Painfully slow service. At least 10 minute wait for server to ask about drinks after he poured water and left. Had to speak to a manager to get server back. Bar crowded but dining rooms almost empty, so no excuse. Not normal service this time.
All in all it was a good experience… The server had a number of busy tables, the birthday cake came out without candles, but the food was good the drinks were strong and the ambience was superb
Pleasant Birthday lunch.
My wife and I started with splitting a dozen oysters (two of each type). They were fresh and fabulous! Then, I had a Caesar's salad which I tend to use as a benchmark. It was perfectly dressed, crispy, and not ice cold which tells me it was prepped to order. Nothing worse than an ice cold, soggy salad. For the main course, she had the swordfish and loved it. I had the duck breast and it was perfectly prepared...in the top three ever. However, I really could have done without the rice pilaf/cabbage/Brussels sprout side. Just wasn't for me. Next time I'm going to see if I can sub that for french fries. Now that would have been awesome! For dessert, we split a chocolate covered ice cream pie which isn't listed on the web menu. All in all, it was a really good dinner and we'll definitely be coming back.
The food was delicious. I had the salmon and potatoe fingerlings. Our server gave outstanding customer service. Sorry I forgot her name. She was awesome.
I called the afternoon of the day and asked specifically for a table not a booth. When I arrived my party was in a booth. We had to move tables. Don’t understand when I called with a specific request and it was confirmed why there was an issue.
We had the New Year's special and it was wonderful. Excellent crab cakes and perfectly cooked filet.
My husband and I celebrated New Year’s Eve with a lovely dinner. The food was excellent. Our waiter Ian was wonderful. He was attentive and made sure we had a wonderful evening. There was also another waitress in the section (sorry we did not get her name) who was very attentive as well.
We have been going to this Clydes' for over 15 years- the service and food seemed sub-par to what we usually experience at Mark Centre, and other Clydes' restaurants we frequent (GTown and Old Ebbitt Grill)
Hoping it was just an off night....
We had a great meal and a great time on New Year's Eve. Service was great and we enjoyed walking around and seeing the restaurant decorations. The only negative was that during the middle of our meal we started getting really cold. I guess the air conditioning was turned on.
Food was good. Service was good but speed and attentiveness could improve.
Sitting in the same room as a loud, very happy group celebrating when there are two other dining rooms which were only half full was quite unfortunate. It diminished the otherwise nice experience.
Service was slow, but I don;t know why. It was not busy in the bar.
Consistently good, just likd ghe service.
I had lunch with a friend to catch up. We had a delightful server who kept my iced tea addition fulfilled. A lovely meal and wonderful service.
Table Service by wait staff was especially good.
Nobody greeted us for about 20 minutes and the place was empty. They jammed the three tables they had with customers all together in a very open restaurant. It was an awkward vibe the whole time. I ordered the filet and it was just so so and not cooked to the correct temperature. I would compare my food to the quality of like an Applebee’s or something, but unfortunately it was priced like a high end steakhouse, leaving you with a feeling like you over paid. I love Clyde’s and this was my first time at this location, and will definitely be my last. I hope the other locations I have enjoyed in the past haven’t dropped to the level of this location. I probably won’t be visiting any Clyde’s location anytime soon because of my experience here.
We go to Clyde's fairly often and enjoy it but this time, I felt like the service we got was not so good. I noticed a large party come in after us. They ordered after us, and yet, their food was served way before ours was?????? Considering that 2 of our dishes were salmon salad, I found this to be quite puzzling and honestly, pretty annoying. My mother is elderly and we waited for such a long time for our food......I realize it was xmas eve but most parties were eating when we arrived.....
I would refer Clyde's to a friend but not for Christmas Eve. This has been our go-to place for the past 10 years, but last year and this year have not been as good as previous years. The service was incredibly slow and the server seemed tired and perhaps overworked. Items were forgotten and we sat for 20+ minutes before the server came to the table the first time.
