Clyde's at Mark Center
Love their oyster happy hour.
If you want comfort food, without high traffic and hassles, then this is the place to go for lunch on a Saturday.
We split a salad, soup and entree and they were kind enough to split the plates in half for us. Made the dining experience great and the perfect amount of food for a date night. Thanks!
There were three of us; the Porcini Chicken and the Italian sub were great; my calf's liver (which I have recommended numerous times to friends) was really not good. Clyde's usually does a stellar job with calf's liver, which can be tricky. Well, this one was really sub-par. Sadly, I won't recommend nor order this dish again. Still a Clyde's fan. Service was excellent as always, and the other two dishes were great. Just disappointed for the first time with the usually stellar calf's liver. No, I didn't send it back, as I didn't want to ruin lunch for the other two, I just ate the great sides.
Rather than receiving the usual good service that we have received in past visits, we were assigned a trainee server who caused three of the six orders to be incorrectly carried out. Halfway through the meal the manager had to replace this server with more experienced staff.
Had mussels and had to ask 3 times for a bowl for shells. When I finished I got thr bowl
My burger was very good. Decent prices, I'd go back. Weird vibe/ambiance but overall a good restaurant.
We live in the area so it was very convenient. Our server was friendly and took good care of us. The food was typical American fare and was just what we expected.
The food was sub par and the server was rude. He ignored my wife when she asked for things and he was overall unpleasant. The Buffalo chicken sandwich she had was gross.
The kitchen seems to be very slow. It was 35 minutes from ordering to getting our meal. I had the Jumbo Crab Cakes. They were the size of breakfast biscuit. They had been cooked to long and were very dry. The accompanying coleslaw was what you would expect from a buffet. It had been sitting around so long that all the liquid had drained to the bottom leaving the slaw dry. The french fries were good. Overall, based on our previous experience of dinning at Clyde's, we were very disappointed.
Great neighborhood secret!!
Always a consistent meal! Great service.
Only glitch to the evening was the hostess seating two people of our party and then adding us to the waiting list. We questioned this since we said we had a reservation for four. We waited for our friends, then I texted them. Only then did we realize they had already arrived and been seated.
The rest of the evening was wonderful!
Exceptional service by Umer Naim, the General Manager. We have multiple food allergies and he was very helpful and accommodating in preparing a safe meal for my daughter.
Really great and staff was wonderful with Grandmere.
Outstanding service and food. I would suggest that when you're out of one of one of your popular items, in this case liver and onions, that the server tell you that as they are handing you the menu. My friend and I came particularly for liver and onions and only after studying the menu and giving our order, did we learn that you were out of it.
The pumpkin cheesecake is to die for!
Ideal for a quiet lunch with friends.
It was great ! The late night menu had amazing options and they had the game on
Excellent as always! Great food! The oysters half-price happy hour is the best in the DC area!!
Very cozy place with fantastic cuisine. Good choices for kids
Went for the lobster special and had a generally good time. Only disappointment was that the lobster for at least two people in our party of four was slightly undercooked. The kitchen was obviously selling a lot of lobster dinners, which may have caused a lapse in attention, but one would still expect an establishment like Clyde’s to have full control over the food being served. I had finished the tail before finding claw meat that needed a few minutes more in the steamer so I didn’t comment at the time. But upon learning afterwards that another person in our party had the same experience, the issue became more significant. In hindsight the claw shell had a lot of black left on it which I should have noticed at the time; not sure how the kitchen also missed that detail.
Visiting from Texas. Delicious and great service. Brussels sprouts were amazing
Always a great experience - lobster special - and Ann Marie made the evening great!
The food was good but service was poor. We had to wait 10 to 15 minutes before somebody acknowledged us. Service was not attentive there after.
I was very surprised to encounter terrible services at this Restaurant. While it was my first dining for a business lunch, I have dined at the Clydes Group restaurants probably 4 dozen times.
Waiter was dressed in unclean garments, hurried our orders, never brought a refill on drinks, never picked up our plates, never brought the bill.
We recommend this chain all the time. I was embarrassed.
Probably lost a very loyal customer.
Went for dinner for their $21.99 lobster special. I had 1 dozen oysters and they were fine. The lobster dinner came out after a very long wait. It was stone cold. The waitress apparently didn’t bring it out when it was ready. Sent it back. After 20 minutes the manger brought out another one and - it was cold again. Informed the manager and she insisted it was hot, even though the shell was icy. Insisted she touch the meat because I informed that she might as well as my wife wasn’t eating it. 8 minutes later she finally got her hot lobster. To the managers credit she took the cost of the lobster off our bill. It’s just annoying when something like this happens and a couple can’t enjoy their dinner together. And what does this say about their level of standards for their food. How many more lobsters are served cold? Most people refrain from complaining so we’ll probably never know.
Our lunch entrees were delicious and our server was outstanding!
My favorite restaurant near the Mark Center
Carla was great
Was seated in the Adirondack room, which has a nice ambiance compared to the other rooms - (disappointed the fire wasn't lit on a Fall night if only for the aesthetics - obviously, it's never needed for 'heat' - but fair enough.)
The food was good - the rotating menu can be interesting, as it changes season to season - but it can be somewhat limited in the breadth of its offerings. Not a complaint - but probably a good idea to make sure there's something on the menu you're in the mood for before choosing this place.
The downside - the service was a bit off-handed and disappointing from everyone we encountered - the hostess, who seemed to be slightly annoyed we interrupted her evening by appearing, the server, who was probably working too many tables, wasn't very friendly and disappeared for 10 minutes at a time, to the servers that brought our food. Everyone seemed a bit grumpy and would rather have been somewhere else.
It was a special occasion, and the food and ambiance were great, but the lackluster service made it less than "special."
As a ten-year customer at Clyde’s Mark Center, I generally consider it a pleasant and tasty experience. Since I usually order the salmon or chicken salad, my friend and I were very dissatisfied this time with the substitution of chopped cabbage and chopped, raw Brussels sprouts instead of the usual mixed greens! Your manager kindly offered us each a free dessert, which we accepted! PLEASE DO NOT SWITCH OUT GREENS FOR THIS INDIGESTIBLE CABBAGE AND BRUSSELS SPROUTS WITHOUT NOTING IT ON THE MENU! No other local restaurant has done such a switch!
The food was cold when it arrived. And I’ve never heard of serving potatoes with French toast. Not a good idea in my opinion. I was very disappointed. I have been coming to Clyde’s for years but I was not pleased with this visit. Last week I was there for happy hour and had the mussels and they were mushy and most were not even open. Clyde’s has a very good reputation but something has changed and not for the better.
I would not recommend this location at this time.
As I indicated, service and food were both excellent...While it wasn’t horribly crowded, there were plenty of people...To be able to talk to my friend without yelling was the best...
The place was empty and we had two handicapped people that were unable to sit in a booth but the person and older white man refused to sit us at a table and insisted that use a booth.
The server was new and could not answer our questions about the food. the food was good.
Overall we will not return
We went to take advantage of the lobster special and it didn’t disappoint. Loved that the daily oyster happy hour also applies in the dining room. Our only small gripe was an extended wait for our wine, which we were told wasn’t in the main bar and, apparently, required a hunt for them to find...and get to our table—well after our oysters. We enjoyed it all though and will keep Clyde’s on our regular “faves” list.
The meal and the service were excellent. Clyde’s has been one of our favorite restaurants and continues to excel. We shared a Caesar salad and I had the calves liver and my husband had the pork entre. Both were delicious.
The food was very good. My only complaint is that the service was slower than usual.
We went especially for the Lobster specials. The Lobster Shephard's pie was very good and the kitchen took my lobster out of the shell for me-greatly appreciated. We had the calamari as an appetizer-really good! Service was good once our server was able to get to our table, she was really busy and I had to ask who are server was after about 10 minutes of being seated and no sign of a server. I like the way they great you as you are walking down the hall to the desk.
My ratings describe our wonderful experiences. The Manager is excellent ensuring guests are comfortable and receiving excellent service.
