Clyde's at Mark Center Ratings and Reviews
Was it quite Pleasant experience we had the duck breast which was phenomenal service was extraordinary the only bad experience we had we ordered the bread pudding it was cold and not that good we changed it to the apple crisp which was phenomenal service was so good the waitress was very nice very pleasant very outgoing and that's one of the reasons I go to Clyde's all the time because they know how to do it right
The Sunday Brunch menu was disappointing. The quality of food (fish, crabcakes, chicken and waffles) was not as fresh and good as the last two times I have eaten there. The crab cake had more filler and lacked a fresh taste. The chicken was over fried. The waffle was burnt and cold. The fish was over fried on the outside and under cooked on the inside. I guess it is hit or miss on the food. I hope the next time I try Clydes again, they are having a good food day!
Met with friends who had traveled from California to Virginia Saturday. I thought the Sunday brunch would be a good start of our hosting. We were seated promptly, given an unappealing bread cut in wedge shapes, and coffee that reminded me of my years in the US Army. It was awful. The women tried the chicken and waffles and the guys ordered the healthy omelets with turkey sausage. I have never had a worst meal. I was embarrass by how poorly the food was prepared. My wife and I have enjoyed routine dinners and special occasions at this restaurant. Please stay away from the brunch!
I usually rate Clyde’s between 4 and 5 stars as they are consistently one of the best places in town. Perhaps they were lacking kitchen staff for this particular night, but they didn’t have any bread to serve us while we waited for our meal. My steak, though tender and properly cooked was cold. I didn’t send it back as we had event tickets and so limited time to eat. The server apologized about the bread and packed up some for us to take home which was nice. The noise level was unusually loud to make a not so great experience even less great. All things considered, Clyde’s can do much better and this time, they showed that they aren’t perfect. I realize they can’t tell guests to hold the noise down but it was obnoxious. I expect a better experience and hope they return to form next time.
This evening was surprisingly disappointing at Mark's Center Clyde's. The service was very slow and the food was very, very salty. The restaurant was attentive to my disappointment and tried to ameliorate this problem by giving me a bowl of barley, when I had simply requested some rice to take the taste of the meal out of my mouth. The manager thankfully took the charge off my portion of the bill but it left me wondering why the young waiter kept getting things wrong!
We go there often. The food is always good and the service is usually quite good. This night , things were just a little off. We were not told the specials, no bread at the table, one of the craft drinks was not correctly made. Things that do not happen in the many visits we usually have there. We will go back as it is not the norm here. We love Clyde’s and it is our go to place
We were there for a holiday party with 16 friends. Though we made reservation a month early, we were seated at a long uncomfortable table in a noisy section, so nobody could talk to anyone not seated right beside them. We were given a new waiter and sat for 40 minutes waiting for drinks, despite tracking him down several times and being promised. We waited interminably for refills, costing the restaurant money and costing us enjoyment. Food was mediocre at best when finally delivered after an hour. Several dishes were cold and a couple others too hot to eat. One was delivered incorrectly and had to be sent back - three times (they finally just took it off the bill, rather than fixing the problem). Not even close to the normally high standards at other Clyde's. None of us plan to go back.
We enjoy going to Clyde's at Mark Center and have gone there for Thanksgiving on one or two other occasions. This year we decided to try the Roast Turkey Dinner. It was a plentiful portion, but the food was barely warm, and the turkey itself was a very weak offering, gristly slices of white and dark meat, lacking in flavor and with a processed texture. The sweet potatoes and stuffing and cranberries were very good, green beans were pretty good, mashed potatoes okay. Service was gracious, with staff offering to bring extra servings if people wished. Dessert (choice of three pies) was included. I had pumpkin pie with whipped cream which was bland and much like a cafeteria or supermarket dessert. My dining partner had apple pie with ice cream (much better than the pumpkin). I am sure I will return to Clyde's, but I would never choose anything like this Thanksgiving meal there again.
Went for a traditional thanksgiving meal and we were so happy. The stuffing was amazing and had apples and so mich flavor. We could have had better seats but the overall vine of clyde’s is cool. Beautiful location and the food quality was excellent and a pretty good value for the price. I would return.
Revisited this once-favorite restaurant on Thanksgiving after about a two year absence. It's back on our list of tried and true restaurants! We were seated promptly and had great service overall. The filet was melt in your mouth delicious and calf's liver was outstanding. The only negative was the roasted beet appetizer, which was not nearly as interesting as the menu description. A side salad to accompany the entree would have been a nice addition as well. Otherwise, it was a memorable meal for all. In fact, we just reserved a table for Saturday brunch!
Marked 4 for ambiance because we were seated in the bar area. It was a little loud (energetic?) It was hard to carry on a conversation with 4 people seated at a booth. But I understood it was "first available seating" on Thanksgiving Day. Meal and wait staff were great!
I really like Clyde's Mark Center. When they are running on all eight cylinders, they are amazing; excellent service and perfect timing from the kitchen. In fact, the excellent service teams make the just good to mediocre teams tough to bear. We've experienced so-so teams in the past, and we experienced a barely-good team this visit. All of the service team except the manager were earnest and pleasant--they unfortunately were dealing with a slow kitchen (despite the restaurant not being busy) and a lack of experience/training. Usually I can count on Clyde's servers to have a solid knowledge of the available wines. Not tonight. Add to that a "special wine" Tuesday featuring three (3) white and three (3) red wines. At 7:15pm they were already out of one of the wines. When I complained to the manager, she said that the menu said the wines were limited quantity. When I told her the menu did not, she went and retrieved a menu to make her point--and she then said "oh, it does not say limited." But she then said "we should have said that" and dismissed my request for a replacement to that bottle, instead offering a glass of the house wine at happy hour price. It just rubbed me the wrong way, setting a poor tone for the visit. I am tolerant of when things go wrong when a team is trained, trying and busy, not so much when the issues are avoidable and the management does not know how to properly engage in service recovery. I really like Clyde's Mark Center--and will like it even more once all of the teams consistently perform.
As long-time & frequent customers, I commend you on maintaining excellent choices that the chefs are even willing to modify according to individual tastes. I would love to see halibut & lamb included on the choices & some less pasta (which I can either make at home or go to any Italian restaurant). Exception is the magnificent Shrimp Buccatoni, which we have ordered 3 times. Also your bread is similarly outstanding - where might I purchase a whole loaf?!
Need to register a complaint about your new menu format - It is difficult to "surf" all over the paper because it is not as well organized as the format you have used for so many years - that menu served to underscore Clyde's as an informal, yet classy establishment & the listings were orderly, while the new paper & format recalls cheap crab restaurants at the beach!
I suppose we will continue to endure that new menu, so long as you maintain food quality & helpful, cheerful service staff....
Fabulous! Service was attentive and our waitress provided excellent recommendations for wine and described the specials in a way that they sold themselves. I always have a great experience at Clyde’s. My only complaint is that our main entree arrived before we were even half way through the sweet potato soup appetizer which is so typical of American restaurants rushing you through a meal.
My husband ordered the salmon entree- he thought the salmon was over cooked and the accompanying vegetables medley was bland to tasteless. It was his birthday so it was disappointing. We had been regular dinners at the Tyson’s Clydes; unfortunately Mark Center does not seem to maintain the same standard.
As always, Clyde's service and food was outstanding. Three of us got the lobster and they were done to perfection and they happily substituted veggies for the fries. My husband got the liver and loved it. There were six of us and all were pleased. It's a great place for a group to have a meal and still be able to hear each other. Coming back again this week!
