The Dining Month menu is superb!
Absolutely delicious food. Amazing, friendly service.
Such a great restaurant located in downtown Portland. I had a fantastic gin cocktail, enjoy a glass of wine from a nice selection, and CANNOT stop thinking about how wonderful the Braised Lamb Shank I selected as an entree was. Excellent service. Wonderful vibe.
The food and service were wonderful.
Great service but the food wasn’t anything to write home about. The portions were quite small. I ordered a starter, main, and a couple drinks but still left a little hungry which rarely happens. The cheese board came with 4 small crackers total and the lamb shank was 90% bone with very little meat.
Birthday. I didn’t like eating upstairs I prefer lower level small intimate tables
Food wasn't great, pretty mediocre. Go for the cocktails though!
The space is cool, and the cocktails are very good. The staff is friendly. We were able to get a reservation on the Saturday after Valentine’s Day, which was great. It’s very loud, and I had trouble hearing our server. They brought the wrong drink at first. I had to use the bathroom, and the hostess came out just before I went in, and there was no TP in the dispenser. I got the orecchiette, and it was wayyyy over salted. My husband had the plank trout, which was good, and the green salad was also good. Overall, not bad, but also not worth paying a babysitter for.
Cocktails were good. Middle of the road food, and not worth the price. Three of the four dishes we had were over salted. The waiter was great, and the atmosphere was good, but there are so many better options in Portland, many of which are more reasonably priced for the quality.
We have been dining at Clyde Commons since it opened, and although the head chef has changed several times, the quality of food and service has continued to be held to a very high standard.
The ambiance was amazing. Very cute spot for drinks and apps. But the dinner was over priced and not very tasty.
Birthday dinner was great! Thank you
This was a disappointment. The salads were heavily dressed and the vegetables were oily to the point of inedible. The fish was good but overwhelmed by the side dishes. It is LOUD which contributes to the ambience but just be prepared. On the plus side, attentive and easy-going service. For the rep and the price point, this place needs to be way better.
If I spend the amount of money I spent, I would expect attentive wait staff. Bruce was not. Finished drinks/dishes were not removed in a reasonable amount of time. Although they advertise European style foods, the service is still American which leaves a lot to be desired. I get tired of waitpersons asking every few minutes if everything tastes good or is fine or are you liking the food, etc. If there is a problem with the food, I will let them know; I don't need to be asked.
Other than the lacking service, the food was good. My trout was cooked to perfection (although the pickled veggies didn't compliment the flavor of the trout) and everyone else seemed to enjoy their food.
Good food, well presented. I've been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal. Good wine list. Service can be kind of indifferent -- hosts were friendly, waitperson seemed like she would have been happier doing something else.
Bourbon planked trout and chicken with mushroom risotto were excellent. Starter of ribs were fatty. Salt cod fritters were meh
Always good and creative. Service can feel a bit stuffy or maybe we didn’t seem very important. We will be back because the food is excellent.
Family in for the holiday
Clyde Common has a challenging menu, in my opinion. I ordered the steak frites and the meat was just OK and under-cooked per my preference of medium. Their specialty is cocktails and that's where they shine. I'll wait a while before returning for dinner.
Service was awesome! I ordered eggs Benedict and my egg yokes were not runny, which was a bummer. Everything else was great!
Great food a little to load but worth it.
The cocktails were an interesting part of the meal. The food choices were a nice variety and we enjoyed the dessert menu.
Everyone’s food was excellent. Service was great, very attentive and quick.
Everything about Clyde Common was great, except for the added "wellness" charge at the end. If you ask a server they'll tell you that it's to pay for health insurance and can be waved. This should be wrapped into the cost of the food, not charged separately. Paying workers a living wage with benefits is not "extra." It is simply the cost of doing business. I will not continue to patronize establishments where owners shame their workers in this way. It's a shame because the restaurant is otherwise lovely but I will not be going back.
The noice level was way too high. Too bad, because the food was very good.
Exceptional service and food. Thank you Craig for answering all of our questions!
Noisy. Not good for client conversation. If seated by the door, lots of cold air.
Friendly staff and food taste great.
We share a few appetizers like the fried cauliflower, the salted cod fritters which both were delicious! And we also had the cornbread with burrata cheese, prosciutto, honey and sweet pickled peppers. A very unusual combo but very effective! My husband said that was the best cornbread he’s had! Then we shared the “The Feast” of the 40 ounce T-bone steak, wedge salad and potatoes gratin. The steak was cooked perfectly and there was plenty to fill us up! The blue cheese on the wedge salad was so creamy and not so funky which I liked. By the time dessert rolled around we were so full but we plowed through the carrot cake with strawberry ice cream which was just ok. All in all, it was a great time and a successful evening!
Interesting food, attentive service and amazing craft cocktails in a hip space with open kitchen.
Great cocktail menu, nice open floor, fun view of kitchen and/or street, delicious appetizers. Entrees were good but next time we might try just appetizers and starters. Staff was very cool, and all in all the people-watching was entertaining.
Delicious food, great service, fun night and will be back.
They were easily able to accommodate our larger-than-expected crowd with grace and kindness. The food was delicious, the cocktails well-conceived and well-executed, and the ambience was lovely.
To start, we had the cheddarwurst croquettes- so tasty and the raw oysters- meh. The pork bolognese was good but bourbon barrel planked trout was absolutely delicious. And don't miss out on the unique craft cocktails!
Service was slow and the waiter would not split the check. Food was good, but expensive
Trying out while traveling, found it great
Outstanding drinks and very friendly staff! We have been twice now and will be back again for sure!
