Excellent food and service
Overall, the experience at Cluny was mediocre. We had booked a reservation for four people as a belated mother's day celebration, and although we had indicated this when we booked, it wasn't acknowledged in any way... Our waiter even asked what we were celebrating when he saw my mother-in-law open a card=.. It's not a big deal, but it's a bit odd. When we arrived at the restaurant for our reservation, we were right on time, but told we had to wait for our table. We waited about 10-ish minutes, which in itself is not the end of the world, but we were with 2 seniors who might have appreciated being able to sit down. Service once we sat down was pretty awful too. Everyone's food showed up at the same time, except for mine, which showed up about 20 minutes later, only AFTER I had to flag down our waiter to say that my food hadn't shown up. There was no explanation offered for the delay. While the waiter was apologetic and overall seemed to be pretty friendly, I do feel like this isn't the level of service one would expect when going to a classy restaurant like Cluny. I don't expect I'll go back, and I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend the restaurant.
Food was not great. Steak was griselly and presentation poor. Omelet undercooked.
Management made amends by free dessert and discount on bill.
Came for brunch, my friends all enjoyed their meals. Our server was amazing! My Croque Madame was not that great, flaked ham? Still would definitely come back because have enjoyed other meals at Cluny.
Cluny never dissapoints, but this is the first time we tried their weekend Brunch. The Mushroom Eggs Benedict was truly fantastic, and I am a serious carnivore. The Omelette Florentine was also very tasty, as were the mimosa and Beet flavoured Bourbon drink I enjoyed. Can't wait to go back!
Everything was wonderful, from being seated before our reservation time, the fabulous service and exquisite flavours of the food. The only hitch, which did not warrant a downgrade on the overall review, was the extra time required to sort out redeeming gift cards against our bill.
We loved it!
This is my third or fourth time at Cluny and I have always had a good experience. The food is very good and they make the best French onion soup I've ever had. The service is very good. I recommend this restaurant highly.
Food is good but service needs improving. It might be too many customers on Sunday and their services failed to catch up with the demand.
Just an amazing experience the staff was excellent and was to handle our large group very well
Excellent food and beautiful atmosphere. They went above and beyond to make our birthday celebration a night to remember. Excellent value for price & location!
True French Bistro...awesome evening
Excellent albeit pricey spot.
Food was very good, great service and nice ambience.
A nice place to celebrate something special
Always an excellent meal and experience, very personable and accommodating staff.
The octopus was very small (skinny tentacles), overcooked and dry.
Frog legs were on the saltier end. The waiter wasn't able to pick up a hint, and properly answer questions, came across defensive when asked about items on the menu. Portions for dinner had limited side items such as veggies etc.
Too loud for dinner but great for casual dining. Bread was wonderful.
Very nice dining experience. Great ambiance in a great location of the city.
It was some disappointment. I asked hostess to bring birthday candle with dessert for my friend. I wanted to surprise my friend on that very special day, but hostess apparently forgot to send my message to our waiter. After all the food were good, service too, a little bit overprice, but its ok for this location.
solid meal again. actually better than I am used to as I have been here many times. super service tonight.
my go place for pre-theatre dinner.
The wait staff was cleaning our table while we were still chewing our food, felt very rushed
Service exceeded our expectation. Waiter understood our likes and made spot on recommendations on both food and wine. Will be back
Excellent food. Excellent service. Lovely setting. Will definitely be back!
Food was a little late and not as hot as hoped but still overall good experience. Would dine again :D
A very pretty restaurant. We sat on the heated patio. Service was pleasant but they were not informed about the wine or cheese that was available. The steak tartare didn't taste quite right. Salmon tartare was good as was the cheese tray and bread.
Love the atmosphere, food was good, service was very nice. Thanks!
Beautiful restaurant and delicious food for reasonable prices!
Wonderful experience! Only area for improvement is the asparagus appetizer - the menu didn’t mention it is deep fried and we ended up not eating it. But everything else was fantastic and I would definitely recommend.
Located in the Distillery District, it brings a chic touch to the neighborhood, yet the atmosphere of the restaurant is also casual. There are so many good items on the menu that it's hard to state my favourite., just make sure to leave room for the chocolate souffle, it is excellent!
Service was a bit lackluster compared to other times.
Excellent experience. Nice bistro style food with a difference. Good wine. Excellent, friendly service.
Lmost 2 hours with friends over dinner before walking across the street to the Soulpepper theatre. Strongly recommend for either pre or post theatre.
Ambiance beautiful, service very good, food delicious in particular sesame crusted asparagus spears delish! My only issue $18 for a glass of wine a little steep!
I made a reservation,
1) good welcome,
2) people were nice but I ordered a plate of frogs legs, she told me it’s a small plate so after that maybe I should consider to take an entrée and other stuff. So I specifically told to my server I keep the frogs legs and I want to add a steak frites. I also took a cocktail really good by the way. 15-20 min later I received a steak with salad I was surprised because that wasn’t my order but I said nothing, 3 min later she came to ask me nicely if everything’s good I said yes but that’s not what I asked and I explained to her exactly my original order. So she apologized and came 10 min later with my frogs legs of course whiteout my fries. So I ate some bite and asked for a takeaway and please add my fries in the takeout. While I was waiting I took another cocktail which was good and paid for everything. I didn’t like my steak but everything else was good. I have to admit even though there was many mistakes they were polite and nice
Atmosphere and service is always good. Food was delicious and had an enjoyable evening overall
This is a beautiful restaurant. The bread is very good as well as the onion soup. They have an excellent wine list and very nice cocktails. However, I feel both the food and drink were overpriced. Other than the onion soup and bread, we did not like our food at all. I hated the crisp asparagus. My husband could not finish the mushroom tartine. The burger was the worst. Perhaps if we had ordered a raw fish entree, we would have enjoyed our dinner. Instead, we paid a lot of money for food we really didn't like. I will say the service was very good, but we were very disappointed in this restaurant.
Great for a pre-show dinner. A little pricey. The serving staff was outstanding. Very good vegetarian and gluten free menu options and labeling.
The staff are particularly wonderful. Friendly and just the right amount of attentive. This restaurant pays attention to the details all the way from great cocktails to real roses in the washroom. And they got us out to the theatre on time.! The food was wonderful.
The server was excellent but the service of food was VERY slow. We were there for over 2 hours and we were sat at our reservation time. The place is beautiful and the food was very delicious. The french onion soup was amazing.
Excellent food, limited selection however. The restaurant is much larger than the pictures make it look. The mains are all extremely large portions, probably best to share one.
