Wonder if this restaurant was better before COVID times

Was super excited to try this out as we’ve been wanting to for a few years now. Came in with high expectations due to its history but unfortunately was a bit disappointed in its mediocre dishes. Meatballs were over cooked and just not a ton of flavor. Would give it one more shot in the future but overall just bummed on how average it was.

Delicious food as always, I'm never disappointed in the meal or the service! Kudos for your long time consistency with both.

We ate in a private space outside due to Covid. It was roomy and plenty warm. The service and food were outstanding! I can't wait to go back here.

Great neighborhood spot. The staff is exceptional!!! Super friendly and going above and beyond during the "new normal" to make the dining experience enjoyable. We sat in one of the heat huts outside and it was perfect. Plenty warm and a good workaround for the no indoor dining rules. Highly recommend.

This restaurant has 6 outdoor heated huts for those who want to go out even during a winter pandemic. The food was excellent and the service was attentive. We look forward to going back after the pandemic.

Huts were small but very warm. Perfect for our small family of two adults and two young kids. Service was great and we felt very safe.

First Time There And It was Great

A great local, family owned Italian restaurant with a great menu and very friendly staff. You can't go wrong at this place. They were especially accommodating during Covid with their street 'hot huts'. We especially liked that they were not taking deposits to reserve one but it's up to us as consumers to make sure we follow through on our reservations. We've enjoyed dining at club Lago and look forward to returning more often in a post pandemic world!!

Ate lunch at Club Lago on Friday, they have tables set-up outside, nicely spaced so I wasn’t nervous about being too close to other diners. I always order the chicken picante and have never been disappointed. Our waitress Juliana was attentive and fun, always a great place to eat.

Due to the virus, we had to dine outside which was ok. Food was just average for Italian cuisine. Service was great and friendly.

Food was delicious as always, but sidewalk seating was a big disappointment. Hot. Noisy. Polluted sitting at the corner. If website had indicated that indoor seating was not available, we would have gone elsewhere. To be repetitive, the food was DELICIOUS.

They went above and beyond to confirm our reservation and accommodate our party outside on their patio. Service was awesome, food on point, and drinks were great. Thanks for the perfect night!

Food tasted like it came out of a can. Expensive for poor quality and taste. Will not come back again.

My wife and I stopped in about a month ago for a drink. We both had such a great feeling from the gentleman that was behind the bar. I believe it was the owner. We decided right then and there that we would come back for dinner. We had dinner on Wednesday 2/19/20. We were greeted and sat promptly. Our server was fantastic! He let us space out our meal beautifully. We always like to relax with a cocktail before we open the menu. When we did order, we were blown away. My wife had the special of the day which was a chicken breast in a lemon / garlic sauce with capers with a side of pasta. It was fantastic. I ordered a sandwich called “the Guido”. It was Italian beef, sausage and meatballs with roasted peppers. It was enormous and incredibly delicious. I took half home. Food was great! Service was great! But what put it over the top for me was the warm, welcoming, comfortable feeling we experienced here. I grew up on the southwest side of Chicago and it reminds me of a neighborhood gem from my youth. My only regret is that this was our first meal here and I am a lifelong Chicagoan. We can not wait to come back. We LOVED Club Lago!!!!!!

Experience needs to be better when you first walk in. We thought we were walking into a closed off party since nobody was talking to us haha. Great personalities in there tho and great food and atmosphere. Would come back!

I've been coming here for a reasonably priced and high quality lunch for a few times a month. Can't beat this place for from-scratch Italian at this price point.

This is a very good, old-school neighborhood restaurant. Casual atmosphere that has been maintained by the owners since it was first opened about 50 years ago. Always a stop of ours when we are in Chicago.
