Club Isabella Ratings and Reviews
I took 2 associates for a casual business lunch. It was raining so I had to use the valet parking ($5). All the valet did was to pull the car forward one space and put a cone next to it! The inside of the restaurant is modern and inviting with big windows. The food was good but paying $12 for a plain salad ($20 with chicken) is exorbitant for this area!
The food, service and atmosphere is outstanding. The patio seating is perfect for enjoying your meal on an evening in the summer. The staff always attempt to make certain that you feel welcome, special and that any requests are filled. It is one of our favorite places to dine.
We arrived on time with reservations. We sat for about 10 minutes before being offered water. An additional 5-10 minutes passed until a waiter took our drink order. We noticed that no food was coming out of the kitchen - about 10 tables were occupied but no food served. After sitting for 30 minutes without even receiving our drink order, nor having the opportunity to order our dinner, we left. The waiter commented that they were understaffed. Quite an understatement. We will not return.
Surly service by experienced server even tho empty, server couldn't explain one of the pastas tho chef was willing & did so. Found overcoat on floor of coat room hung improperly. Food was unexciting and menu uninspired - same old menu w lots of heavy meat dishes and not very healthy.
Nice venue; good service. Not like the Club Isabella's of old; menu inconsistencies; no music; wasted space.. need to have more attendance; special dinners; wine, bourbon, cognac tastings... etc. Could be more than what it is... a good PR person would fix it!
A very convenient restaurant/bar before any venue in University Circle. The service and food were excellent, however it is on the pricey side for the portion size. I would like to go back when we have more time and hear some music (piano player was there, very nice) and a drink and some appetizers.
I always love this restaurant's food and service, but the service on this occasion was a bit inattentive. We would've liked to have ordered another round of drinks, but our server never appeared until our food was ready to be served (this took longer than normal too).
Crab manicotti and Hokkaido scallops were delicious (but small) entrees. Add $6 for a bottled beer, $6 for a vegetable side order, and $12 for dessert together equaled the price of the entree. Server's familiarity with the menu was spotty, and she didn't remove used dishes until we put them on the outside edge of the table.
A perfect table for 2 at Club Isabella will make you fall in love with food all over again. The amazing selection of food, wine and dessert is paired very well together. Everything has a reason and a story behind it. Highly recommend: Winter Squash risotto, the calamari, and the clam pizza. I always ask the servers what they recommend since they know whats best for that day.
We went as a party of 4 and ordered featured items, not on the menu. Everyone agreed the drinks were great and the food and service met expectations. We mingled for hours. The atmosphere is cosmopolitan in a nicely renovated older brick building with exposed steel trusses and a view toward UH and CWRU campus. Valet parking therefore no parking issues. Aligning the bar stools in the same direction when they were empty at the end of the night was a nice touch that shows good attention to detail. My spouse and I like to meet for a drink at the bar when we're in the neighborhood.
Spent New Years Eve here with my wife. We were seated over 30 minutes after our reservation time. Would have been later if we had not made sure we were seated before a "regular", who came in later. Hostess (manager? owner?) said they were "overbooked" and asked if we would mind eating at the bar. Also asked us if we thought we were "someone important."
One entree was pretty good (short ribs). My wife's steak was ordered well done, arrived rare. Sent it back, arrived rare again. Sent it back again, arrived burnt! Not edible. My wife had to go without dinner! Waiter was very good. Getting late so we had to leave. Hosted comped the burnt meal and one drink, asked us not to post anything on social media.
There are too many good restaurants that get it right, from taking a reservation to knowing how to cook, to ever take a chance on this place again. We won't be back.
Largely disappointed that the menu listed on open table was not what the restaurant was offering. Of our group of 6 we all had specific dietary needs which would have been accommodated on the menu previewed. We all settled on some fashion of what might be acceptable. The food portions, although tasty, were incredibly small and seriously overpriced. Service was good in so far as there were only a few people in the restaurant. Lots of other places in town for that kind of money. Won't be back any time soon.
Mediocre at best when it comes to the food and service. This place is pretty pricey. Price doesn't mtter much to me when eating out. The lamb t bone was 30 and had absolutely no flavor. I ordered it medium and it was charred with no flavor. This would be a good place to go out on a romantic evening but the food quality just did not meet expectations.
