Skip the food, which was good but overpriced, and ski straight into the apres outside.

This review won't matter because I understand that Cloud 9 is the most profitable restaurant owned by the Aspen Ski Company and it's nearly impossible to get a reservation during the season, especially for the ever lively 2 PM seating which becomes a bacchanalian festival reminiscent of the movie "Caligula." I mean seriously, when people start spraying $125 bottles of Verve Cliquot around the room, you know there's too much money in the world. The food is good -- not great and seriously, $49 plus tax and service for a quinoa salad or bowl of pasta bolognese is pretty outrageous. However, it's not the food people come for. It's the jaw dropping, spectacular setting of the mountains in the backdrop of this Swiss inspired restaurant. In the "old days" the party thing seemed spontaneous... for 15 minutes at the end of the meal, suddenly the music got cranked up and everybody went crazy dancing on tables and chairs. Now there is an anticipation and almost expectation that this is going to happen and the restaurant orchestrates it especially with the new sophisticated sound system throughout the restaurant and the longer playlist of songs...always the same mix of party favorites I might add. THE TRUTH is that if you are with the right group and have had enough to drink, THIS IS A FUN TIME for sure. But you will pay through the nose for it. AND, be sure to check you bill. We had a mistake on our and somehow I don't feel like it was all that accidental.

Very disappointed with our meal. Had waited a long time to eat here. Fondue was decent, but soup was not very good, call it Campbell's. Salmon flavorless. Raclette was imitation. way overpriced. Will not go back.

when we orderd the first bottle of champagne we were forced to order some food as well (although we asked before, if it's ok just to have some drinks - and that was answered with a "yes") - when we wanted to order the second bottle of champagne, we were not allowed to!
very strange

The restaurant is great and lots of fun, but you have to make a reservation on the 2pm slot. Otherwise is a packed, overcrowded restaurant with overrated really horrible-horrible food! Our party of four were all sick afterwards from their food. And really overpriced!! Maybe you should try the raclette.. we didn't try that. Other than that is a fun place!

This was our second time eating at Cloud-9 and the food was average and very over priced - but I guess they can charge more because they are on the mountain. We had a noon reservation, but if you can get a 2pm reservation I'm told this is better because there is a DJ at that time. If you can't get the 2pm reservation I would recommend to eat someplace else on the mountain.

Our group was unaware of the options that they offered for lunch. We still wanted to enjoy The remaining part of the afternoon on the slopes so we did not want to eat too much. When we ordered small portions and did not have bottle service the waitress had a real attitude towards us and was very unfriendly. She made several rude comments to our group like we did not belong there. We will never go back there to eat but rather maybe have a drink outside on the deck.

The lunch we had at Cloud Nine was as good, fun, energetic and full of atmosphere as we had expected and wanted it to be. A definitive must in Aspen if you want a lunch in a place like the ones you're sometimes lucky to find in the Alps, but that you hardly ever find in US skiing areas.

Cloud Nine might just be the best lunch in the ski business! So fun, so beautiful 😍 add a gass of champagne and it's easily the best time you'll have at the Highlands (well, except the Bowl with pow). "Ski in Dance out" is the motto ... it's a good one. We can not wait to go again!

THE mid-mountain experience. Great food, wine and party atmosphere for lunch (watch out for the Veuve). The T-shirts say it best: "Ski In, Party out".
Gourmet dining with transportation by sno-cat for dinner.

Lives up to its reputation! One of a kind gem. Pre and apres ski. Ski in ski out only...not for the beginner skier. We sat in the back room which had an amazing view but all the action is in the main room. We missed out on the fun. Until next time!

The early seatings are quiet. Late seatings are rowdy, so if if you go after 1:30pm, do not expect a quite meal. Portions are large.

Absolute blast! My husband and his friends randomly walked in to Cloud 9 a couple years ago for après ski, totally stumbling onto an awesome party at 3:00 in the afternoon. So when we planned a Snowmass couples ski trip this year, Cloud 9 was a must. Reading the other reviews was helpful, 2:00 reservation is key. If you go for the 12:00 reservation, you won't be disappointed by the food, drinks and view, you just won't get to p-a-r-t-y. My girlfriend and I stopped in early at 1:30 for our 2:00 reservation (low season during the week so it wasn't super busy) and ordered some amazing pâté, beef tartare and great wine before the rest of the party arrived. If cost is a concern, it is slightly overpriced, but you're at 10,000' enjoying an amazing view and eating "fit-for-foodies" food. The rest of the group arrived for raclette, fondue and a couple (or 3) bottles of Veuve. Because it was early season, the main room wasn't full, but the few groups present danced like it was! Our servers were so much fun, knowledgeable and honored our crazy song requests. Cant' think of a better party - great friends, super yummy food, awesome sound system, drinking (and spraying) bubbles all at 10,000 feet!

Definitely make your reservation ahead of time (at least a month is recommended) as we saw many hopefuls get turned away without one. Also get there a little before your reservation so you can get a prime spot overlooking the Maroon Bells mountains and skiers coming down the mountain.
The food was delicious and the wine list was very impressive, especially since you can see all the bottles of champagne lined up in the snow. Both the food and wine were pricey compared to other spots on the mountain, but the views and ambiance make it worthwhile. Make your reservation and hope for a warm sunny day since the highlight of this dining experience is the outdoor patio. The inside looked nice, but seemed like any other mountain dining location.

We had been in Cloud Nince before and had such a great time. Not only the fondue and the raclette were great, but the party after, was amazing. Great music, great ambiance, everyone dancing on the tables and pouring champagne . This time, we could only find reservation at 12:00! The problem was we did not know that going at 12 is a total different experience that going at 2:00m. They almost kick us out, the music was very boring and quiet, and there was definetely no intension to pump up the place. I would never return to eat at Cloud Nince at 12:00. The experience was a total disappointment. So if you want to have a great time and a great party with good fondue and raclette, go at 2:00 and never at 12:00.

There is nowhere as much fun as Cloud Nine Bistro at Aspen Highlands! You'll have a blast, inevitably dancing on tables and spraying champagne, all with a breathtaking view. It's a one of a kind experience. You'll make an unforgettable memory. Make sure to have your camera and video recorder ready!
For a more relaxed experience without all the frolic, choose the earlier seating.
The inside is warm in the winter, the outside tables on a sunny deck in the Spring.
No trip to Aspen is complete without a visit to C9.
P.S. You never know who will show up - on Valentine's Day 2016, Seal snowboarded his way to lunch and serenaded the crowed with 'Kiss from a Rose'!

We tried many of the restaurants on the mountains during our week in Aspen and enjoyed the food at Cloud Nine the best. As we ate the view unfolded from under the clouds which is amongst the best. We have eaten in Europe also and found the meal to live up to the hype. We finished with the chocolate fondue to end our meal and it was definitely a guilty pleasure! Make sure you make a reservation early!
