About this restaurant

Clio Restaurant, now known as Uni, is a modern Asian cuisine restaurant in Boston. The chic and simplistic look inside lends to the overall creative and fresh ambience present in this location. Uni gives you an innovative selection of traditional Asian meals by offering sashimi, nigiri and maki rolls alongside hot or cold sushi dishes. The two executive chefs and business partners, Ken Oringer and Tony Messina, work to make sure the menu doesn't become stale and always features something new and different. Try the Tai Snapper with myoga and mango or the Hamachi Duet Yellowtail with banana, black truffle and pork belly croutons. With your meal you can enjoy sipping on any of the classic wines, beers and spirits offered at Uni. One unusual addition to the bar list is Japanese Sake. Authentic Sake can be difficult to find, but it is served at the restaurant.

Clio has closed for good. The food was excellent, winning many awards and accolades over the years. I had the nine-course tasting menu and, while I had many tasty courses, did not feel overstuffed when I left. The dishes were as beautiful to look at as they were delicious to taste. While all were memorable, the one I will mention was a kind of a custard with mushroom and abalone floating on top. A smokey flavor was added, not directly to the custard but to the air over the custard, from a small pile of smoldering wood twigs extinguished and covered by an abalone shell. The smell was a lovely addition to the overall experience of the dish. The last service was on December 30.

Clio has been our favorite Boston restaurant for several years. Unfortunately it's closing--or, rather, transforming itself into something different. This was the chef/owner's personal choice, despite his recent success, so I guess we'll just await the new incarnation and hope for the best.

Love this restaurant. I've been here several times and it never disappoints. Something of an Asian Fusion menu and nice ambiance.

Although all of the dishes we tried were fantastic, the lobster cassoulet, foie gras and crab and lobster dumplings out shined the rest. The cocktail menu was much larger and more creative than expected, and the drinks were delicious.

clio is closed anyway - but our experience was a disappointing one: it was praised by many, but did not reach the high standards... may be because it was closing in a week - so there was no point to do the best

For a long time, Clio has been an institution in Boston. It is with regret that one sees it closing. The latest experience reinforced the long held opinion. There was only one complaint: The loudness of the background music! In a small dining room, with high density tables, filled to maximum, loudspeaker music is counterproductive!!! Otherwise, the Clio classics, dating back decades was an added and welcomed reminiscence.

We heard so many good things about Clio and finally decided to try it. However, the dinning experience was so bad that I decided to write a review. We waited for more than half an hour despite the fact that we had a reservation. During our long wait, we looked at an empty table in front of us. That was our table. For some unknown reasons, we had a long wait for a table that was ready for us. We had high expectation on Clio's testing menu. That might be the reason why I felt so painful eating those dishes. Each course looked great on the menu, but they did not taste as good. Most of the courses were too salty. The combination of pretty ingredients and colorful jus did not contribute to satisfactory taste. We were particularly unhappy when eating our main course and Foie Gras. The only course that we liked was the dessert sorbet. For a tasting menu over $120, I expected much more than what were offered to us.

It was amazing. We actually did not do the tasting menu but instead created our own by sharing a few appetizers. The crab and lobster dumplings were the best. Our meals were incredible! Despite being full, I ordered dessert. I was a little nervous because I was already really full but the Concord Grape was so delicate and delicious it was totally and completely worth it! By far one of the best restaurants in Boston.

Clio continues to offer food that is among the best in town. Among the current offerings the crab and lobster dumplings and the carrots really excel. The menu however is getting old and the transition of the room to a new taste is justified as long as Chef O continues to be the creative force here. The service is spectacular and lets hope that does not change.
