A couple of things not up to par, The area around the tables are quite heavy with dust.
The dust was actually blowing onto my food. (tables with the jail bars are filthy dusty)
The windows are dirty. The floor had some food around the tables. If the just keep it clean i would have given them 4.5 stars.Food was excellent!
I feel like I should start in the ocean.. because all I can say is salt salt salt.
The oysters were basically sitting in ocean water..
The steak tasted like ocean water..
My date's lamb had so much decorative junk on it that added more and more you guessed it... SALT..
Customer service was great.. Even acknowledged that the chef is ruining quality ingredients with far too much salt. Brought me a new steak which was awesome.. BUT I had a full view of the kitchen and it was like watching Gordon Ramsey screaming that the customer was wrong..(Something Gr wouldn't do unless I was wrong..) I should have made a better wagyu beef ribeye at home for a fraction of the cost.. or gone elsewhere for a better meal for half price.
Ambiance is really cool.. Customer Service is great.
The food kinda sucks...
Food was disappointing, server was ill informed. We asked about the monkfish osso bucco and he said it was osso bucco and fish........well, it was a piece of fish with the bone in (hence the osso bucco reference) but that was pretty much the only resemblance to osso bucco. It came with roasted seasonal vegetables which were a beet the size of my fingernail, and a few bits of something else. Mostly it was accompanied with overly salted tiny pasta -- not good. We also got the lamb shank which was undercooked and therefore not tender, though it was a generous portion. The duck roulade was very nice, though it was incomprehensibly slow to arrive. The décor is cool, but otherwise it was pretty much of a dud experience.
We were disappointed in the service our waiter was not attentive I don’t mind paying high prices for food but when your server is literally absent for 20 minutes was very frustrating the manager came over and apologized he made up for it in the end however I was really surprised that that happened in the first place
It was Christmas Day so understandably might not be as good as normal, but the service was slow, the options few and by 7:15 they were already out of the goose which is what we wanted. My dish and my companion’s (the chicken) was overly salted. Truly, an overall very underwhelming experience and not worth the money. Will never go there again.
We stayed at our favorite hotel The Liberty on Christmas night and had a fabulous meal at The Clink! I had the blackened sea bass and my husband had the butter poached lobster which both were outstanding. Great food, great atmosphere and great service! Can’t wait to go back!
This was our annual family outing parents + 2 adult children in Boston from Denver, CO. We are always looking for a unique and or historic Boston restaurant for this occasion. The fact that the hotel is carved from the Charles Street jail exactly fit our criteria. The valets were helpful since one in our party was disabled. The Clink was unique with its former cell doors still in tact. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, answered our questions, made recommendations and was overall pleasant and helpful. We were not rushed and our drinks and all courses were timed perfectly. Would definitely recommend and return.
Server was not super attentive. One order was for the poached lobster. Lobster Tail was not clean and eggs still attached to it! For $42 the tail should have been cleaned! Bar outside of Clink served wine in soap stained glasses. For such a luxury hotel, very disappointing. We will not return
The ambiance is very interesting, being a converted jail. The bricks lend a warm vibe.
Our waiter was pleasant and worked hard to accommodate my vegan diet. My only complaint (other than noise level)was the tomato soup arrived scalding hot. I couldn’t even begin to eat it for about 30 minutes.
Great service. Food was amazing....highly suggest the yellow tail sashimi with watermelon and peanuts as a starter. Wonderful wine selection- we got a well priced and delicious cab-sauv , and our cocktails were well done. My boyfriend drank the Blackstone (a creative take on a Manhattan)...he was quite pleased.

Homemade pastas (black pasta with shrimp) were excellent and striploin was perfectly prepared. Start with the charcuterie, and small but terrific wine selection sure to please. As hotel guests, we also had brunch in Clink on Saturday and it, too, was first rate. Service excellent - just the right balance of attentive without being intrusive.
Innovated food in this rennovative jail with catchy names like The Clink, The Yard and Alibi. Stay in the old jail cells of this Liberty Hotel.
We had Dunday Brunch. Great Bloody Mary bar, pork belly fried rice not to be missed and the coffee cake was amazing. If you can't make brunch or dinner, at least come by for drinks! I would recommend leaving the little ones at home and look nice. Cool jeans, but no shorts.
My wife and I had a quick dinner with our grown son while we were in town. Having eaten at it's sister restaurant, Scampo (very good), did not know what to expect from Clink. Happily surprised! Excellent Menu...with variety. All the food was scrumptious...burrata, steak, salmon, brussel sprouts..all good! Wait staff very responsive, attentive and kitchen moved quickly to bring out meals. Atmosphere is a little sterile (tricked out in old jail cells), but warm enough and does encourage conversation.
We'd return again.
Excellent service and food. The setting is wonderful - historic, classic, and modern. My wife has multiple food allergies that make dining out difficult, but Clink handled it wonderfully and made her a great meal with no complaints and no hassle. I highly recommend Clink.
Always a pleasure to go to Clink for brunch, I believe it is one of the best brunch places in Boston. The waffle and the eggs benedicts are a must have. The Bloody Mary Bar is great. It is on the more expensive side of brunch but still, totally worth it. Bon appétit!
It was wonderful to finally see the inside of the ominous Dickensian building of my childhood. The interior had just enough touches of the original the Charles Street Jail to remind the visitor of its function long ago. Be sure to check out the ceiling of the atrium. The Clink Restaurant retained some of the cell bars with all the modern touches of large bright windows and modern dining room furniture. The service was very attentive and the staff tried to accommodate our early schedule for the theater. We were taking advantage of Restaurant week. There were some adventurous choices on the menu with simple enough fare mixed in for the less adventurous. I had the spare ribs entree which was smoky, tender and delicious. The portion of baby bok choi was skimpy but delicious. My dinner companion had the gazpacho appetizer which she said was absolutely delicious. It was beautifully presented. She also had the cod as the main course and it was a spectacular piece of cod, tender and moist. The desserts were less spectacular but adequate.
We swung by for a quick lunch today and had a terrible experience overall. That service in general was pathetic would be an understatement. We never got an app we ordered, were made to wait a long time for our s'wiches and worst of all, my wife, who happens to be vegetarian, found a piece of bacon in her side of sweet potato fries. That last one is just plain unacceptable for a restaurant in a hotel like this. This was by far the worst experience we have had at a 'Luxury Collection' property having stayed and dined at multiple ones all over the world. We are definitely not going back here which is quite a shame because we really used to like it.
