Good food and service, as usual. However, I am not as pleased with this season's menu as earlier menus. The red fish was OK but not great, the squid ink pasta is not as good as it had been with basil crumbs and shrimp (the current version is too spicy) and the salmon is not as good as previous versions.
College friends visiting Boston (32 years). I thought it would be cool to show them the old jail. I work in Boston & have heard good things. Brunch was great, loved the make your own Bloody Mary bar. Definitely will be back!
Sunday afternoon brunch with three families and everyone enjoyed their meal. Bloody Mary station for the adults, kids menu with all the favorites for the kids. Very friendly and helpful wait staff. The history of this hotel as a former jail make it a fun destination for out of town guests; some original cell structures were left in place. Valet parking available, which helps given the busy location in Beacon Hill near MGH.
Out waitress was awful! Flatlined, robotic attitude. Spilled a pickle jar of juice at our table, never returned to clean it up. We had to ask our busboy to clean it up, which he quickly did. Our “seater” asked us who was celebrating a birthday at our table, we told her, it was never acknowledged again. I would not go back, a good meal, very expensive, very poor service and client interest.
We had an event to go to and didn’t have much time to get to a restaurant and back. We decided to just eat at the hotel. Food was ok and menu more elaborate than the taste. I wouldn’t expect value from a hotel restaurant, especially at a higher priced hotel but we spent about $180 for 2 adults, a teenager and a child who ordered pizza. I wouldn’t mind spending the money if the food was amazing but it fell short.
Historic building with great food, pleasant staff, good menu.
Easter brunch was VERY expensive for what we got. Food was ok. Portions were small. Aside from the unique setting, this place was nothing special.
We went to Easter brunch/lunch. I chose this place because 1) The Liberty is a neat hotel with interesting history, 2) the menu offered both brunch and lunch items and 3) it offered a good mix of traditional and inventive options, as my father is an American traditionalist when it comes to food, but that is not my or my husband's style. Indeed, they had something for everyone, the food was fresh and well prepared, and the cocktails and dessert bar were excellent. Service is friendly, albeit a little slow/unattentive at times, but overall it was a very good experience.
No one was at front desk, I waited for 10 minutes, but nobody came to lead us in. The foods were just so so, didn't deserve that price. The deserts was awful, which tested like what Whole Food s sailing, also there wasn't much choice for customer although it was kind of buffet form. Even I said everthing was fine, it didn't mean it was, just wanted to be a polite person. Anyway, I won't have brunch in Clink anymore. Hoping you have a little bit improvement.
Best food we at in Boston! (Easter morning brunch.)
I had Sunday brunch at Clink and dined alone. I was put at a weird (you're dining alone!) table. Service was fine and meal was fine, but nothing special for the price. It won't be on my return list to visit.
We had not been to Clink for several years so took advantage of restaurant week to visit again. We were pleased by the quality of the food and wine. Since it was restaurant week we were able to splurge on a more expensive bottle of wine and we chose an excellent 2010 Brunello. We asked to speak to the chef to pass along our compliments and spent 5 minutes speaking with him, a rarity in US restaurants but common in the better restaurants in Europe. We applaud his ambitions for the restaurants and we will be looking for other occasions to dine there.
The dining experience here was absolutely top-notch. Going for the pre-fixe menu was a great choice, as we got to experience the wide range of talent here at Clink. The wine menu filled the taste of all sorts of palettes, and paired beautifully with the food. The service was amazing, and with such a great atmosphere, Clink can’t be beat!
The restaurant was beautiful. The food was nothing exotic, but certainly tasty. Drinks and food a bit pricey for the quality. Service was attentive and well-paced. Enjoyed ourselves and might return.
We went during dine-out Boston and had an incredible meal. The wagyu beef tartare was perfect, as was the dulce de leche creme brulee we had for dessert. Limiting ourselves to the items on the prix fixe menu was hard though - everything on their regular menu looked amazing, so we will definitely be going back again!
The cauliflower bisque was outstanding, along with the pork and orange cheesecake with white chocolate shaving, one of the best meals I've had in a long time.
Service and staff were extremely accommodating, will go back again soon.
Carlos made us feel at home and was a joy. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. We could not figure out why it was so dark in the lobby and the restaurant
Good menu selections to satisfy diverse tastes. All of our dinners were excellent! The only area that could use improvement is the service, as our server seemed to forget that we were there at times.
My experience is exceptional every time! The service is superior and the food is amazing!
I feel like I should start in the ocean.. because all I can say is salt salt salt.
The oysters were basically sitting in ocean water..
The steak tasted like ocean water..
My date's lamb had so much decorative junk on it that added more and more you guessed it... SALT..
Customer service was great.. Even acknowledged that the chef is ruining quality ingredients with far too much salt. Brought me a new steak which was awesome.. BUT I had a full view of the kitchen and it was like watching Gordon Ramsey screaming that the customer was wrong..(Something Gr wouldn't do unless I was wrong..) I should have made a better wagyu beef ribeye at home for a fraction of the cost.. or gone elsewhere for a better meal for half price.
Ambiance is really cool.. Customer Service is great.
The food kinda sucks...
A couple of things not up to par, The area around the tables are quite heavy with dust.
The dust was actually blowing onto my food. (tables with the jail bars are filthy dusty)
The windows are dirty. The floor had some food around the tables. If the just keep it clean i would have given them 4.5 stars.Food was excellent!
Food was disappointing, server was ill informed. We asked about the monkfish osso bucco and he said it was osso bucco and fish........well, it was a piece of fish with the bone in (hence the osso bucco reference) but that was pretty much the only resemblance to osso bucco. It came with roasted seasonal vegetables which were a beet the size of my fingernail, and a few bits of something else. Mostly it was accompanied with overly salted tiny pasta -- not good. We also got the lamb shank which was undercooked and therefore not tender, though it was a generous portion. The duck roulade was very nice, though it was incomprehensibly slow to arrive. The décor is cool, but otherwise it was pretty much of a dud experience.
We were disappointed in the service our waiter was not attentive I don’t mind paying high prices for food but when your server is literally absent for 20 minutes was very frustrating the manager came over and apologized he made up for it in the end however I was really surprised that that happened in the first place
We love having our first day of the New Year brunch at Clink mostly for their lavish Bloody Mary Buffet.
Overall, It is a beautiful hotel, the brunch menu is great. If you’re very hungry, try their burger.
It was Christmas Day so understandably might not be as good as normal, but the service was slow, the options few and by 7:15 they were already out of the goose which is what we wanted. My dish and my companion’s (the chicken) was overly salted. Truly, an overall very underwhelming experience and not worth the money. Will never go there again.
We stayed at our favorite hotel The Liberty on Christmas night and had a fabulous meal at The Clink! I had the blackened sea bass and my husband had the butter poached lobster which both were outstanding. Great food, great atmosphere and great service! Can’t wait to go back!
This was our annual family outing parents + 2 adult children in Boston from Denver, CO. We are always looking for a unique and or historic Boston restaurant for this occasion. The fact that the hotel is carved from the Charles Street jail exactly fit our criteria. The valets were helpful since one in our party was disabled. The Clink was unique with its former cell doors still in tact. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu, answered our questions, made recommendations and was overall pleasant and helpful. We were not rushed and our drinks and all courses were timed perfectly. Would definitely recommend and return.
The food is especially good. our favorite restaurant in Boston. e
Server was not super attentive. One order was for the poached lobster. Lobster Tail was not clean and eggs still attached to it! For $42 the tail should have been cleaned! Bar outside of Clink served wine in soap stained glasses. For such a luxury hotel, very disappointing. We will not return
The ambiance is very interesting, being a converted jail. The bricks lend a warm vibe.
Our waiter was pleasant and worked hard to accommodate my vegan diet. My only complaint (other than noise level)was the tomato soup arrived scalding hot. I couldn’t even begin to eat it for about 30 minutes.
Awesome Build your own Bloody Mary arrangement with a unique array of brunch options. Not to forget, the service was incredible as well.
Great service. Food was amazing....highly suggest the yellow tail sashimi with watermelon and peanuts as a starter. Wonderful wine selection- we got a well priced and delicious cab-sauv , and our cocktails were well done. My boyfriend drank the Blackstone (a creative take on a Manhattan)...he was quite pleased.
Espresso gelato dessert with pizzelle and whipped cream ✔️
The food and service is always very good. Salmon, chicken, steak entrees are all excellent. Great historic lobby bar for pre-dinner drink. Short walk to Boston Garden.
Homemade pastas (black pasta with shrimp) were excellent and striploin was perfectly prepared. Start with the charcuterie, and small but terrific wine selection sure to please. As hotel guests, we also had brunch in Clink on Saturday and it, too, was first rate. Service excellent - just the right balance of attentive without being intrusive.
$5 for an unsweetened ice tea was a bit extreme I thought, but uniqueness of location and quality of food will bring me back again.
Excellent food and presentation. Enjoyed the historic setting.
Clink is consistently excellent, dating back to at least 2013. The hotel (The Liberty) is nice, although the rooms are average and the front desk service is somewhat lacking. Clink, however, never disappoints. The food is terrific, as is the service.
Beet salad had too few beets and too many greens.
Noise from music and kitchen were somewhat distracting. Music could have been at a lower volume and more conducive to meal time rather than a dance hall.
Innovated food in this rennovative jail with catchy names like The Clink, The Yard and Alibi. Stay in the old jail cells of this Liberty Hotel.
We had Dunday Brunch. Great Bloody Mary bar, pork belly fried rice not to be missed and the coffee cake was amazing. If you can't make brunch or dinner, at least come by for drinks! I would recommend leaving the little ones at home and look nice. Cool jeans, but no shorts.
Very convenient for MGH and Red Line. Good food good service and light ambience
