What Insiders Are Saying
Between the atmosphere, plating, and oh God, that cocktail menu, Cliff’s Edge hits on all cylinders when it comes to making your night feel like a NIGHT. Take note, Silver Lake: the finer things in life aren’t always boring.
Outstandin experience. The food was delicious and the service was on point. We were in a hurry and they literally managed to serve our food within 10 minutes!
We were excited to eat here but were disappointed. The service was good and the bar in the front was cozy and had a cool atmosphere. The decks where you eat are interesting but there are no views or anything like that. It’s very enclosed. The two apps we ordered were not good. The octopus was so tough and chewy I took two bites and did not eat any more. It was expensive, too! The burrata was ok. Usually it’s hard to mess up burrata but the dish was bland, very cold (burrata should be room temp) and had a bunch of frisée on the top as did the octopus. The entree we ordered was very good- a mushroom pasta. We decided to not stay for dessert. I’d choose a better place. Talk to locals if you’re visiting to find good places.
It would have been a good experience if the first server hadn’t tipped and broken one of my guests’ glass of wine, with glass chards and wine all over her... and then if they had made us shove through our entire Saturday night dinner in less than one hour so they could resell the table. Pierre Casanova, what happened? Your restaurant used to be so awesome!
Best Brunch in Silverlake!! Can't wait to comeback :)
I took my mom here for her first night in town. We got a seat on the patio but it started to rain so even though we had a reservation we needed to wait at the bar to get a seat protected from the rain. We ended up waiting in the bar for an hour and 15 minutes and we thought the hostess had forgotten about us! Luckily the drinks and the food were delicious and made up for the wait. The staff was very friendly, but a tip - the valet is $6 and cash only, so make sure you bring cash ahead of time (the only atm is a block away). Other than the rain delay and the valet, Cliff's Edge was fantastic!
Enclosed patio dining area seemed cozy at first but felt busy as time passed. Dishes we ordered (snapper, duck breast, and N.Y. strip) had good flavor but were all bit on the salty-side. Wasn’t offered a refill on my coffee. Not sure if they charge for refills. Didn’t like that the waitress was standing by next to me while I was putting down the tip amount to finalize the bill.
Loved the ambiance of the place! It was very cozy, rustic, and uniquely its own. I was surprised that I didn’t hear the busy traffic of Sunset from the outdoor patio. Completely forgot that I was in the middle of the city! The food was amazing; a little on the pricey side but the quality and taste was worth it.
Went for my husband's birthday, and without exception everything was wonderful!
The food was amazing, service quiet and thoughtful and prompt, the ambiance just beautiful!
Overall it's a little expensive for brunch but you're paying for the very cute ambiance and the food was very good!
A really unique LA environment...it’s basically an outdoor restaurant with 3 walks and a cliff behind it.
The food was excellent - from the burrata tomato appetizer to the short rib entre that was perfectly cooked.
The chocolate pot a creme with cardamon whipped cream was a fitting end.
The ambience is second to none.
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday and she loves the place. Ambiance was awesome, appetizer was delicious, she loved her dinner, wasn’t crazy about my snapper, didn’t have a lot of flavor but other than that pretty good. Incredibly overpriced if you ask me though
Great atmosphere. Very peaceful &feels like you're outdoors. The food is not up to par with the
The restaurant itself is beautiful! The ambiance is super hip with bohemian style decor (throw pillows, mirrors on the wall, wooden furniture etc.). It is the perfect place to celebrate a special event, go out with your friends for brunch, or for date night with your special someone. We went for brunch right when it opened at 11am, and there was plenty of seating. Not a ton of people at that time, but I would assume it gets very crowded and noisy at night. There is a large tree in the center of the restaurant which is why I wanted to visit in the first place! Very pretty restaurant in Silver Lake... OH! And despite being told on yelp that they have their own parking lot, it is valet only! So if you don't want to pay money to park ($6 bucks I think) try and find some free parking on the residential street next door.
With that being said, as I have read in many previous reviews, the food is nothing amazing. We had the french toast and chicken and waffles, and they were both just ok. I don't think the food was worth what they are charging. The fried chicken was not very tasty, and a little bland. It was an herb batter, with some powdered sugar on top, and it did not taste too good. The french toast was good, but like I said, nothing special (except the plating!).
Service was great. Our waitress was nice. Coffee was strong. I enjoyed the overall experience and this restaurant is definitely worth a visit.
Ambiance is good, food is mediocre and expensive. We waited 15-20 mins before our server came.
Came for Sunday brunch with our 2 college kids. It is a charming place, with the feel of dining in an intimate space in the backyard. Be prepared for a wait for valet parking. Food was good, but nothing to boast about.
As always, great food and an awesome space, but dampened by our servers lack of engagement / enthusiasm/ interest in making our evening enjoyable
Great out door seating in a tree covered environment. No wait on Friday night is a bit of a mystery, perhaps the limited parking is an issue, but the food was very good to excellent, service very good, and a all in a cozy environment.
We came here for my daughters 15th birthday. The restaurant is beautiful, ambiance is lovely, food was excellent, and our service was top notch!
I’ve been here several times for brunch and normally really enjoy it. I love the decor especially outside. This particular day it was insanely busy. I could see the hostess and our waiter were both so stressed out and doing the best they could. I was sat 30 minutes after my reservation and everything I originally ordered they were out of. What I did order was good but I still felt short changed and disappointed in the whole experience. I highly suggest more help. There should have been 2 hostess’s not just one and thankfully the bus boys were sweet and tried to take care of us but more wait staff is needed. Also, have extra popular items on the menu so they won’t sell out.
Food was good. Our table shared the truffle fries and bananas fosters waffle. Both were delicious, although the fries could have used a touch of salt, no big deal. The eggs benedict and short rib hash were also worth ordering. The fried chicken and waffle is a pass. Fried chicken was not great.
The ambiance is amazing. The treehouse feel makes it seem like you're on vacation in the tropics, and all in the middle of the city. The setting and decor really steal the show and make this place worth going to.
Service was unremarkable. Our waitress kept disappearing. And then another waitress would come in between and ask us how we were doing. So I was always confused to who our person was. When our bill came, it was incorrect. Although it was fixed, it just took a long time to get it fixed and paid. Service could be improved, but people are coming for the ambiance I guess.
I love this spot I've been coming here for years! The menu has greatly improved since my last visit a few years ago, but I was hoping the outdoor ambiance would have been a bit m ore romantic like I remember. They used to light up the big tree on the patio with candles on each table, but this time which was prime date night (Saturday night) it was pretty bright w/ the overhead lighting but there were no lights on the tree and they didn't light our candles :( but the food and service totally made up for it! Overall experience was great!
Took 30 minutes to get a drink once we were sat.
Service was poor, food was just ok for the price.
Been there done that...
Quite a little forested gem in the middle of gritty LA urbania. The patio environment is soothing and conducive to conversation; the food was excellent (I recommend the snapper); the service attentive and helpful. Good food, relaxing environment, decent price - what more could you want?
Ambience was really great. Service was off. Value was lacking. $34 for bone-in New York strip that was off the size of the kid menu. Two spoonfuls of potatoe puree. No thank you. Would not recommend. Ambience really was the homerun.
Great experience! They even brought us out champagne for our anniversary. Delicious food and amazing outdoor area!
The seasonal soups are great. The butternut squash/coconut soup was magnificent!
This is an interesting restaurant with inside bar and tables but a more interesting three-tier
outdoor tables settings up a hillside covered with trees/shrubs/vines. A variety of excellent
dishes & drinks with very good, friendly service.
The quality and specialty of the food served does not equals the cost of the meals. There is absolutely nothing peculiar to the dishes served at the restaurant. The "tree" saved the night.
Fiancés birthday brunch. Loved everything about this place. Atmosphere is amazing. Food was excellent. Would give it 6 stars I could.
Truly a gem of Silverlake. There's no other patio this magical in LA. Food is consistently inventive but there's always something for everyone. Interesting wine list.
The hosts were very accompandating. I had to change the number of my party’s reservation multiple times and they remained patient and kind. I was sat within ten minutes of arriving. Servers were attentive, fun, and accurate! Such a cool place and the food was great. Cocktails were a bit weak (for me) but still delicious
Lovely place. Great food and service.
I don’t think I ever ate food this delicious in my life!!!
Server kept forgetting about us and our food. As soon as food arrived we were swarmed by flies. Hot and humid like a jungle on the lower level. I’ve been before and liked it better but won’t be back after uncomfortable sweaty fly longer than it needed to be brunch.
Our experience at Cliffs edge was nothing but amazing. Starting with the decor and friendly staff who made the experience even better. We ordered the olives as an appetizer and the tomahawk for 3 of us. Amazing. The chef wasn’t pleased with the quality of the marrow so they gave us 10$ off. We even got free refills for our wine due to the longer wait (we ordered well done). I definetly would return and recommend to anyone. It is a little pricey so I would go for a special occasion.
We both enjoyed the seafood bowl that was an Asian style of a cioppino - delicious! And the setting is romantic and beautiful.
I've been here a dozen times over the years. During my most recent visit, the food presentation was excellent. The timing of the food and the service however was not up to the same par. Servers were super nice, but the kitchen was having timing problems. Both our order and the table next didn't go to plan. All good, but at this price point should be better.
I'd prefer a more wholesome bread option as well.
