What Insiders Are Saying
Between the atmosphere, plating, and oh God, that cocktail menu, Cliff’s Edge hits on all cylinders when it comes to making your night feel like a NIGHT. Take note, Silver Lake: the finer things in life aren’t always boring.
ambiance was nice, nice patio, food was good service not that great waitress was not very friendly or attentive, bar selection is horrible.
We had heard great things and they were all true. A very special evening
The patio atmosphere alone is must-see. Even on a hot morning, the canopy of trees and shades made for a comfortable brunch experience.
The hostess forgot about us after we checked in. She said we were too early then 15 minutes later the time of our reservation I saw they were seating people who came after us. Then I went up to her again and she had completely forgotten about us. Then they sat us at a table in the front that was open the entire time. Then our waitress was hard to flag down to order. The six person table that sat down after us was wrapped up before we were. Food was okay but the service was so bad. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
I’ve been to Cliff’s Edge many times, but not since the got their new chef. Our meal last night was such a disappointment after all the stellar food I’ve enjoyed there in the past. We ordered harissa carrots, charred broccolini, and mussels with chorizo. The carrot were the tastiest dish, unfortunately, they were drenched with harissa which was a bit too spicy and didn’t mix well with the caramelized flavor of the carrots. The yogurt accompaniment was completely mixed with the harissa, and so did not serve to cool the dish down. There was too little of it in any case.
The not-at-all-charred broccolini was not very fresh tasting. Whatever attempt had been made to char it had resulted in a wilted, partially cooked and tasteless dish. Also accompanied by the same harissa sauce that came with the carrots, despite the menu’s description of “Calabrian chili”.
The mussels were, in my opinion, inedible. The sauce tasted like cinnamon flavored dishwater. My husband disagreed and ate them. He felt the flavor was delicate and enjoyed the fennel. So, this dish was a matter of taste.
Our drinks were delicious.
With regard the the service and ambiance - despite our reservation, they did not have a table ready and had to seat three other parties before us. We were invited to have a drink in the bar, but the music was so painfully loud, we declined.
Our waitress was kind and attentive, then disappeared, but we were well cared for by another. The biggest problem of the evening, however, was the large party which were loud and rude and seated next to us. Their screamed and yelled conversations prevented anyone near them from having any conversation at all. The restaurant should not have seated other parties near them.
The patio at Cliff’s Edge is lovely and can be an elegant place to dine. Had the loud party not interfered with the ambiance, things would have been much betterment but good food would have been nice too.
Love this place so much, have been coming here for years and the food and service has remained impeccable. Very special location and the back patio garden is truly beautiful.
Absolutely happy with our experience! From service to food !!!
The potatoes were out of this world. The other food was good, but nothing memorable...like the potatoes!
Expensive but super yummy and great place to enjoy the night out.
We came to Cliff's Edge to celebrate our anniversary. Tucked away on a busy street in Silverlake is this perfect little Oasis. The service was incredible! Jason took very good care of us and made the evening super special. I felt like I was sitting at the top of a fancy tree house in a tropical rain forest. I had the duck which was cooked perfectly. My husband enjoyed the short ribs. The food was delicious! For a couple of hours, we were swept away.
Cliff's Edge is our favorite neighborhood restaurant. We love eating there. The food is original, satisfying and the ambience is uniquely romantic. It's not an inexpensive place, but worth every penny. We have never had a bad meal there having gone dozens of times dating back to when it first opened over 15 years ago.
We LOVE OIR NEIGHBORHOOD place which should be everyone’s go-to place. Sitting outside transports you to wherever you’d like , be it upstate NY or Mexico or or ... it was so easy to hear everyone - they do NOT blast blasted music so we were in heaven - drinks to perfection, our waiter was just magnificent but they all came around to see how we were doing AND they were busy hat night. Still service was fabulous. The food - well - SOOOO good AND we’re all a bunch of foodie snobs - highly recommend but shhhh don’t tell the others!! Prices reasonable - not at all a budget buster- sorry for typos!
Loved the patio and the food was great!
Let's start w/the service-horrible server. She kept asking about 'we' Will be be eating today? WE are sitting at a table , so I assume WE will be eating...How are we doing? after a disappearing act of 25 min. The food arrived before our drinks. The food which is usually pretty dependable was so-so.
BUT a pretty place-I will not be running back any time too soon.
Everything was wonderful from start to finish! Very friendly and helpful new bartender.
Wonderful place for Sunday brunch
Great food, great place👍
Great place for a date night. Cozy patio, not noisy, friendly staff, great food, great location!
Beautiful interior and delicious food. Feel miles away like a staycation just while you have a meal. Lovely.
The best hideout gem in Silverlake area, excellent food, perfect service and the ambient is perfect for a date night
Always love coming here. Great food and atmosphere.
OUTSTANDING! First time was a home run! We'll be back for sure!
Always great food and pretty dining area. Really good cocktails this time. Staff is great
Cliff's Edge has become our go-to restaurant for friend and family dinners. Service is always excellent and the food matches it and the ambience is always a surprise when you realize you're right off of Sunset in Silverlake. We had the special of the day (a whole chicken for four people) along with a bunch of shared dishes (brussel sprouts, carrots (which I usually shy away from when cooked but these were something else!), potatoes, warm olives) everything was great. For those wanting a romantic date night, this is a great choice as well. Prices are mid to upper mid range but, you won't feel ripped off like a lot of other places that charge just as much.
The food was absolutely remarkable but the service was best; attention to detail is amazing. Food tastes as beautiful as it looks; presentation was astounding plus the ambience is so clean, fresh and just serene. I'd come back for brunch.
This is the best place to bring someone who has never been for a unique and pleasant setting!
Love the lush tree and plant covered aesthetic of the patio here and the fact that there are all these little tucked away areas that are still all connected and overlooking each other... keeps sound down and keeps an intimate feeling while still feeling sprawling and open... a perfect spot for a chill brunch. Only downside was a total lack of vegan entrees- hence the 4 versus 5 stars. This place would be infinitely improved by adding that. Still, I’ll go back for ambiance anytime!
Very nice and welcoming atmosphere. Service was friendly and did not overly or underly check up on us (in other words, attended to us in a well-timely manner). We ordered ceviche, truffle fries, shakshouka, eggs benedict, and apple cinnamon toast; all were well-prepared and tasted delicious. Oysters were surprisingly fresh as well. I will definitely go back, especially for their relaxing atmosphere and delicious foods.
Great food, server needed to reminded for routine request, bread. We specifically asked to slow down entree when we ordered, it arrived mid appetizer. Felt rushed and disappointing service. Server cute personable but did execute basic request. How bout promoting your diverse busboys to your non diverse waitstaff - you’re not addressing the diverse LA market, with income. Step
It up - long time Silverlake resident .
Love the jungle like atmosphere. Great place for a romantic date.
Great discovery— really enjoyed our experience here— beautiful presented and delicious food!
Beautiful setting to enjoy a meal with friends and loved ones. The service was fantastic and the food was scrumptious. Will keep going back so I can sample it all.
Tomahawk steak was amazing. They brought us complimentary champagne glasses for our anniversary. Staff was very attentive and easy going. Lighting there really compliments the trees around you.
We love this place. Celebrate many family get togethers' here in the beautiful ambiance of their garden setting. Lots of heaters in case it's chilly out. Super charming waiters and delicious dishes. We like to order several and share. Great drinks and desserts as well. The chocolate pot au creme is the best!
I have been to this restaurant many times before the food this time was not very good very disappointing
1) We told the server, no cheese on the burger. It came with cheese. The order was corrected promptly and the server apologized.
2) The roesti was way overdone and almost inedible--not like any I've had in Switzerland.
3) We said "no sparkling water" and got an $8 bottle of "still water." Next time we'll order "tap water."
4) We asked for separate checks for each couple. Our check had the other couple's expresso on it. Not a big deal. However, I think the server could have been more attentive.
5) I tasted the shrimp & grits and found it to be one of the best I've had. We try it often at other places & it's always different and not nearly as well presented or as good as the one at Cliff's Edge.
6) The ambiance is always a "WOW" and our friends were duly impressed.
7) The host was super--friendly and attentive.
8) We'll be back, and we'll continue to recommend Cliff's Edge
My daughters birthday. At my favorite table I try to always sit at
Nice breeze always from the water
