Being a local, we dine here fairly often. The food was excellent - French Onion soup was perfect, Duck Duet and Salmon Oscar, finished off by a Grand Marnier souffle.
Although the restaurant was not very crowded, the service was off - waiter (Lorenzo) was not attentive and disappeared for 20 - 30 minutes at a time.
We eat here fairly often and the food is usually amazing but was just okay this particular evening. We had a very good time and the service and friendly staff was great as has always been our experience. I recommend this restraunt to you for a great evening.
This was not our first visit to the Cliff House, and will not be our last. They are a class act, and pull it off in a comfortable friendly manner. We had a variety of special requirements amongst our party, and they graciously accommodated all of them. We went to cap off Christmas Day with a relaxed quality experience and were not disappointed in any way!
Finally we were asked our name which the hostess told three host’s about but no one bothered to address me by name as we were lead to our table. The waiter and his team quickly appeared to tell us about their wine list – my wife ordered a glass. The waiter started to leave and I had to stop him and ask about cocktails. I ordered a gin martini. The drinks and breads arrived promptly as did the waiter to take our orders. I ordered the French Onion soup as an appetizer which we all shared – it was delicious. Thank the Lord we did.
Our entrée’s arrived 1 hour and 20 minutes after being ordered. My daughter’s Shrimp Scampi topped with Risotto arrived only partially warm and the Risotto had already started to coagulate. My wife’s Salmon Oscar arrived in tact but with the slightest amount of Crab and Hollandaise Sauce as possible. I had ordered the Elk Chop it arrived almost cold, so I asked the waiter to have it heated up. Our meals had obviously sat for a period of time before serving. I got my meal back just as my family was about to finish their meals and it was tasteless and dry as could be. Even the demi glaze had no flavor.
I told the assistant waiter that I was disappointed about my meal. In fairness they immediately took my plate and removed the Elk from my bill with apologizes. We asked the assistant for the bill. He quickly returned and took my credit card – moments later the waiter appeared with another bill which he took back when I updated him on what his assistant had already done.
Upon returning to the vestibule to regain my automobile there is no valet or valet station to be seen. Once again I had to ask the hotel clerk about my car. The car quickly appeared, my wife and adult daughter were left to go down the outdoor stairs without assistance while I dealt with the valet who by then was at the top of the stairs. The end to a less than successful Christmas dinner.
The food was wonderful. We selected the lamb and elk meals, and both were nicely prepared and delicious. Service was very good. I had the house white wine which I really liked. I like the atmosphere of this restaurant. It is pricey, but a good choice for a special occasion.

The meal was as good as it gets and the price was very reasonable. I’m looking forward to going back.
Well, the restaurant was not crowded, but the entree salad was tiny and we received shrimp instead of salmon - waited for the salmon to come. Quiche was cold but by this time we did not feel we wanted to complain and just ate it. Disappointing food for the cost. Service was good and fault was I believe with the kitchen. Long drive from Denver for mediocre dining.
We're from the east coast. This was our second time here, the last time was 7 years ago for dinner. This time for lunch for our anniversary while also visiting the Air Force Academy.
A lovely place with tablecloths and an opportunity to quietly enjoy a wry good meal.
I would have given it 5 stars but although we highlighted it was our anniversary on our Open Table reservation, it wasn't acknowledged.
On a recent stay at the accompanying hotel, we had dinner at this establishment. The food was good, not great, but good- certainly at the price point. The chef was very creative with the dishes and ingredients and the meal service itself, as a whole, was very cozy and pleasant. The only issue that we had was an oversight by one of the servers, who forgot a refill on my date's iced tea. On the whole, the restaurant and experience was memorable, and truly a must if you're staying at the hotel, in particular.
Food was amazing, cooked perfectly! Staff was awful! Was put in a corner where the only thing to see was the wait staff exiting the kitchen door! Staffed seemed more worried about the image of the place instead of helping the customers that were there. Left to use the restroom and put my napkin on the table, apparently I didn't fold it correctly, because the waitier came and folded it while my wife sat there watching. Meal took too long and was too expensive to deal with a staff like that!
